Just an interesting question I thought of. In a friendship, do you think trust is everything? Or do you think in some friendships it's nice to just not deal with trust and not tell them everything? And, do you tell your friends everything and do you trust all the people you're friends with? Would you tell them everything if you had the chance? I personally think, yes trust is everything. I have those few friendships where I don't deal with trust and i don't tell them everything, but other than that yes I do think trust is everything. This is kinda ironic though because all the friends I have currently I don't trust them with anything I tell them and I actually don't even tell them anything, which I know is unhealthy since I have to tell someone eventually, but yeah. And I don't tell my friends everything, at all. I don't tell them anything about what's happening in my life, how I'm feeling or anything like that. I just don't trust my friends, period. I just have a nice friendship with them where I guess I don't deal with trust, but they think it's fun to come to me and ask for advice and they trust me with things when I never come to them with anything haha yeahno, It's not fun. But anyways if I had the chance, no. I wouldn't tell them everything. What about you? |

It depends, mostly. I find it's based off of whatever information you feel is necessary to share. My friends don't tell me everything, and they're under no obligation to, just like there are things I don't tell them. There's a lot of things I don't tell my friends simply because they don't ask, or because the information is irrelevant. As for them, if information is withheld from me, that's perfectly fine, unless it's something I have to know. As far as trusting my friends, it really only goes so far. I rarely share with people the intricacies of my personal life and that extends to my closer friends as well. Figure it's none of their business, and vice versa. |

^ Couldn't agree more that what you said. I have friends who I knew back in my high school days on Facebook whom I talk to on [extremely rare] occassions, but it's not like I'll tell them much unless asked. |

Break out the L-word. The other L-word.

Very few of my IRL friends--and by very few I mean none at all--actually trust me with their problems, and I don't trust them with mine. Well, it's probably not so much a trust-issue as it is a "let's not talk about that" issue. Now, on the other hand, I entrust a great deal to my Internet friends. By that I mean pretty much anything I can gather the courage to tell them. |

In simple terms, I do agree that trust is important in a friendship. However, people have their secrets and things that they might not mention early on. This doesn't break trust in my view, though. Respecting each other's secrets is a part of trust and friendship. |
