So I just got in from a fun night away from the interwebz, and I find THIS VERY TOPIC - an attempt at Epic Lulz.

An attempt without ONE SINGLE MENTION OF ME. But let's ignore the massive social faux pas for now and concentrate instead on my issue.

Let me be abundantly clear - lulz is not something that just happens. The entire thread and the OP smelled of absolutely fail troll/attempt at lulz. It simply reeked of previous attempts at Lulz.

From my experience with Zetaboards, banning members is incredibly easily done. You insert an IP, matching accounts come up and you can ban them all at once. No need for faffing.
You ask me, it just smells of a crap attempt at lulz. I'd say bullying but hell, the OP was just too damn obvious.

TL:DR - don't force the sodding lulz. It pisses Uncle MoD off when you try to force the sodding lulz.

I still can't use this.

Since you mentioned faffing about, I just want to clarify: Whilst I had my own bit of fun, I was not being disingenuous with anything I did. The member in question used a great deal of IP addresses- many of them unique to each of the fourteen accounts he had- meaning a lot of time for me to sift through and find all of the accounts as well as making sure that said IP addresses were not shared between accounts I may have missed. I also did the same for e-mail addresses.

While I was doing this, I had a dilemma in that this member only had one problematic account, hence why I offered him the chance to come clean and merely have the account he was signed on with banned and the others left alone. I waited for his subsequent posts and made a decision based on that, nor did I see anything wrong with letting the members boost their post counts for a bit in the process. Whether or not it turned into an Epic Lulz was not my concern and I figured it wouldn't: I made it clear that the thread would be locked once I was done anyway. That is why- not counting the newfound duties I have to a newborn nephew- it took as long as it did for me to ban the member.

I also do want to say that a weak Lulz is not new. You even oversaw a few yourself without any issue, so needless to say I don't see this as a particularly large problem unless your absence from it was honestly the biggest issue.

And for the record, no: The current ZetaBoards ACP does not allow you to ban IP addresses from the actual IP Address Look-Up system that I used to even gather the poster's account history. The same goes for e-mail addresses. They would all have to be input manually in a separate section.
