Has this been posted? Not sure, but I made sure to check. But anyway, they are showing some new anime. Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins is set to debut on the new Toonami. The former I'm very interested and hyped for, the latter seems uninteresting to me but I'll probably give it a chance.

As for why there's not more anime, read the article.

Adult Swim, the cable and satellite network that is paired with Cartoon Network, is listing on its schedule that it will air the Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins television anime series on Sunday, May 27 at 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., respectively. The schedule lists that both series will then air again at 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Jason DeMarco, former Toonami producer and recently promoted vice president of strategic marketing and promotions for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, confirmed this schedule on Monday via his Twitter account.

Adult Swim had announced last Wednesday that it would bring back its Toonami programming block starting on Saturday, May 26.

[Via Toonami Podcast]

Update: Adult Swim's entire anime schedule for early morning May 27 is as follows:

12:00 a.m. - Bleach
12:30 a.m. - Deadman Wonderland
1:00 a.m. - Casshern Sins
1:30 a.m. - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
2:00 a.m. - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
2:30 a.m. - Cowboy Bebop

The schedule then repeats between 3:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m.

DeMarco added that Toonami will not be showing Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and similar titles since "the rights to those shows are owned by our competition or are out of our price range." He continued, "Something you should know about THIS Toonami: We have very, very little $$. This experiment will need ratings success to receive more funding for new shows, more [mascot character] Tom animation, etc. I'm thankful for the $$ we've gotten, but it isn't a lot."

DeMarco also clarified Adult Swim's May 16 press release, which said that the network is developing "new original anime programming" for Toonami's return. Toonami will not have original titles created specifically for the programming block, "just new acquisitions." DeMarco said that he personally "loves One Piece and would love to see it on CN again" along with Gundam Wing. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Fairy Tail, and Inuyasha: The Final Act are some of the "many shows we've been looking at" or discussed.

DeMarco confirmed that Steven Blum will reprise his role of Tom, which "will be an updated hi-res version of Tom 3.0" aboard a slightly different but almost identical version of the spaceship Absolution. However, the character Sara will not appear for now ("costs too much to make"), and Peter Cullen will not be the voice of the block's promos due to his busy work schedule. The anime titles will keep their theme songs, and Toonami "will make our own 'pre' intros."

You people better watch this stuff! Just leave your tv on overnight or something!

In all seriousness this gives me a bit of hope for One Piece making a return. Would anybody else like to see that, or just me?

I still can't use this.

Uh, yeah, Toonami's back on guys. Like, right now. Seriously. Switch to Cartoon Network right this second. It's back on the air after four friggin' years of misery. Also, it's been made very clear they need ratings to gain better shows, so you guys need to keep up your end of the bargain and actually tune in if you want this block to have some longevity and a higher budget.

Yes. What Bliz said.

Sigh. My satellite sure chose the worst time to go out. Was liking Deadman Wonderland till it did. ›|

Which by the way, I never heard of either of the new shows prior to the announcement, but Wonderland sure kicked off in a brutal and creepy as hell way.

Deadman Wonderland has started off awesome, although I have reservations with how the writers chose to get the protagonist into the park in the first place. "This little boy obviously did all this damage. Death penalty." Even Florida would take a step back from that one.

I also liked Casshern Sins. I'd seen bits of the live action movie before, and I'm happy the fighting's at that same intensity. The art style and the apocalyptic world are very appealing. But cute little mascot girls.... Why? ;~;

I've heard of Casshern Sins before. Think I've seen the DVDs floating around one of the stores I visit.

As for Deadman Wonderland I saw bits of that while my friend was watching the subs. Seemed interesting enough.

That said, I didn't watch Toonami because I still don't have cable. :I

Sounds like it was on at a good time for me to watch it though. It was like 2pm when it started playing (though I doubt it would have been sent over here live). Ah well~

Casshern Sins ended up being pretty better then I expected it to be. ;-; Wonderland was pretty awesome as well. Anyone know how good the ratings are? The two new shows definitely ended up being the highlights for new Toonami.
