I'm a little bit confused and vexed right now so I'm just gonna start right from the bat. This incident took place after 6pm and I'm currently typing this at about midnight-ish, bear in mind the timezone difference.

Today, is my best friend's birthday. And in celebration of her birthday, she invited myself and 3 others for a meal out in a nice restaurant, which all of us have been to before. It's sort of like a pub, but more family-orientated (without being kiddie, of course.)

Anyways, we turned up, everything was good, we were talking, laughing and joking as teen girls do. This was up to the point when a group of three girls a little older than us arrived, taking a table diagonal a few metres away from us. So, I was halfway through my main course when I saw these girls staring at all of us. I thought nothing of this and so reengaged within the conversation, however whenever on the occasion of glancing over they were still looking at me.

Now, these girls had a hella lot of makeup on, had a lot of fake tan and bleached blonde hair. And all they did was stare, and it was starting to get a little creepy so I subtly brought it to the parties' attention, who were also
slightly put off from it. I went outside the restaurant for a quick second to text my mum about pickup time (I've yet to drive, xD ) because there was no mobile signal indoors. Upon coming back in the girls' heads whipped around, sensing my arrival.. And that's when it got pretty, I dunno, weird.

I heard the girls begin to bitch about us, calling us "stuck up". Under no incident had we been flashing cash about or anything! We'd just been laughing and having a good time in each others company, but apparently that made us targets for these people. At one point they said they wanted to beat us up, one girl punching her hand again and again for emphasis.. Yeah, I had to cover my face to hide my giggles during that shenanigan.

My mum made a fuss and I had to leave early, something about her shopping, so I paid and left. Later, I received a text from my friend saying there had been a fight! The girls had followed them on their way home, swearing and shouting at them, and it almost got physical until one of my friends' parents appeared. I mean, really?

Our behaviour was completely normal, talkative and joking, and I know we weren't being unreasonable because the only people fased by us in the restaurant by us were those girls. In fact, there were groups being way louder than us. xP

So, I don't know. Just venting my anger, I suppose. Has this ever happened to you before, like in public? People seemingly having problems with you for no reason?..

Btw, jeez, this a long post, I'm sorry~ :c

Whoa, that's scary. O_O

Never happened to me, but I have heard it happened to one or two other people. Still don't get what that's all about.

I mean, all we were doing was eating food and talking, people get easily offended nowadays, I guess. xD

Based on your description, it would seem they are jealous. It seems that they may feel empty inside or unsatisfied with themselves and altogether unhappy. Maybe they saw you having fun and laughing with your friends and were jealous that they did not feel the same way. People who are insecure or dissatisfied and like to bully others tend to target people who have traits- be them emotional, psychological, physical or anything else- that they wish they had. I'm glad nobody got hurt.

Even if they would be jealous for as unusual a reason as this, I still find it extremely odd that they had to react in that way. If they felt like that then public decency should have shown them that not reacting would have been best for everyone, but instead it had to end like that, how ridiculous! .__.

Ah, oh well. I'll just hope it doesn't happen again.

All of you ungrateful humans who took everything away from me! Will feel my loss...and despaair...

Now that i got that out of the way, you must realize some humans are terrible at acting norm- at acting in a proper way, hence that's it's an often stereotypical fact people who want to have fights for no reason appear often.

It's life. If they have any.

What's dat? You don't like how much we're having fun? Let me laugh in front of you even LOUDER. |D [/does a Terrance and Phillip impersonated laugh]

Joking aside, I've only been in that situation once in China. What we did was stare back - some of my friends flashed weird faces. The starers ended up looking away and we went on with our merely lives. If it makes you feel a bit awkward, return the gesture.

But never have I been followed by people like that before. That's something I can't give advise on.

In this case, though, that may have upped the hostilities and pushed them to try and fight sooner, though... You know, rather than scaring them, it might have made them feel as if they were being challenged or something.

I would say something, but it would be some generic comment about people who think they're popular and wear tons of make up. I think the only thing that can describe this incident is a face palm.

I can't think of anything like that where a random incident in public turned crazy. But I do remember being in this creepy friendship that spiraled into a friendship from hell...

It was in 9th grade and I'm not sure how/when it happened, but I became acquainted with a girl who moved to our school from out of state and another girl who I'm still friends with today.

Anywho, it started off normal enough. We all became close friends, the out-of state girl (who I'll call OOS girl and my other friend girl B) seemed nice enough. She liked the same music we liked, she gave me some burned CDs, and stuff. She had apparently been forced to move here because some family issues, but staying with her aunt and cousin was not fun apparently. She was pretty much not allowed to go out or anything, it seemed like a pity at first.

Then one day out of the blue while we're hanging out she asks if me and friend B if we are virgins/have had sex. And she proceeds to go on about how she had sex and she was in a relationship with a 20 something. They were doing it in the pool and got caught and the guy was charged for having sex with an under-aged girl. So now I was beginning to get creeped out. And it was beginning to come clear why she was being watched by her aunt. She slept around around alot, skipped school in her state, had tried drugs (I believe she told us).

Well, one day during PE, we had just finished the class for the day. We went to change and I had just finished getting dressed when I noticed the OOS girl was having an argument with a person I knew. I ignored it and left outside, not wanting to be late for the next class. Apparently, the argument escalated, the two got into a fight and I think both were suspended for a couple days. Suddenly I was much more afraid to be friends with this girl (and I'm pretty sure friend B was too). Not to mention the whole issue seemed to change my acquaintance's attitude. I don't think she was ever the same. I ended up distancing myself from said acquaintance by my mother's urge to try and keep out of this drama.

School was almost ending, which made me glad. Because I was done with all the drama I had suddenly found myself flung into. One day in history class though, I noticed that friend B and OOS were not in class. It was then that an older blonde girl (maybe college age) came into our class and asked the teacher if OOS was there. He said no, she turned and set eyes on me (I assume she knew who I was from hearing stories from the girl). She leaned down on my desk and asked me where she was. I told her I had heard she was going to have a slumber party with friend B. It was creepy being asked pretty much.

Next day OOS girl asked why I told her cousin where she was, because she got in trouble for it. I lied that I didn't know who she was/wasn't sure who she was. And so she mentions that next time I shouldn't say where.

I never saw her after 9th grade, so I assume she either was forced to go to another school, or she ran away to be with her mother again (like she had said time and time again to us).

Shame you couldn't stay in the pub longer have a few more bevvies and call a taxi home, but its a free country, why shouldn't you be able to walk home without incidents? Urgh, i hate this place - Where bouts in uk are you? I had a few incidents like that when i lived in Swansea :o(

They sound sadly typical of slightly older 'younger people' picking on those younger then themselves. But yes it's quite scary when it's so random and for no apparent reason. Had it in nightclubs, minding your own business and someone just feels like making an issue out of something or nothing and ruins the whole night. Had that happen to me and few mates, wasn't good. But the ones who started it got thrown out as the bouncers watched the whole thing, WIN!

I live near London, but I don't live in a rough area or anything. I remember thinking, "I didn't expect this of *enter hometown name here*".. o:

Joys of life unfortunatly. Probably the same mentality of the pricks who started the riots in the big smoke last year. I missed that by couple of hours luckily. Was on a charity drive through Londons tunnels and surrounding areas and heard on the news en route back what was going on...eek!
