Chaos Emerald
|
Several female No Datas walked into the lobby. They were coated in a red color, a dark color. Each one had a fairly large key in their hand. The key was silver, yet it sparkled every so often. Each female No Data spoke out different names, pairing them up as they beckoned for the chosen fighters to follow them. "Fenroar 'Fen' Strauss and Sílfide Gensai, please follow me." One of them spoke out. As she spoke, she moved towards the center of lobby while the other No Datas would waited in a circle. As she lead Fenroar and Sílfide to the center of the Lobby, she simply stared at them with her mirror like helmet, reflecting only their appearance as they would look upon her. Soon, a bright light shot down from the very high ceiling. It started to expand and engulf the three of them. The light would be nearly blinding, yet the blindness would only last for a second as they arrived in hallway of some kind. The walls were surging with green and blue digital wires. They were all leading towards one location, an odd looking door. The door was outlined with a glowing light, yet no door nods or handles could be seen. The female No Data walked to the door and inserted the key. The door rippled like water, and proceeded to as she turned the key. A loud unlocking sound was heard, to which the door instantly slid open to reveal their fighting arena... It was a office, a very run down and darkened office. It seemed abandon, for a reason that seemed to present itself. The air was stale and smelled of dried up blood. Not to mention that large traces of blood were streaked across the walls every now and then, as if something came in here and slayed the entire office crew. Yet, in this large room, no bodies were presented. There was blood on a few of the desks as well, and in some spots large amounts of dried up blood. The place had barely any lighting at all, as the lights seemed to be faded and sometimes go out or flicker whenever they pleased. This placed housed not just desks, but machines of some sort, large machines at that. They are all off currently. The floor was made up of panels, weak and loose panels that would break and fall is a heavy set person jumped. Not to mention that the panels wobbled and creaked upon each footstep. But even if the floor panels did give way, the drop was only about fifteen feet until you hit the next floor or landed on another desk. This office had two floor, and only one staircase leading to both room. In the center of both rooms was a square pole with an electronic panel on it. Activating this panel will cause the the power to turn on, thus the machines will also turn on. This would cause an ear full of noise in both rooms. So much so, that one would not be able to hear them self think. With these machines and all the desks and boxes all round, the further you got from the center of both rooms the more the place would become hard to maneuver through if you're in a hurry. Unless you enjoy going through obstacle courses. In both large rooms, it is easy to get lost in, even more so when you can't see much in front of you. The top floor has one big square window that seemed to be tinted, as not a lot of light comes through the window. As for the bottom floor, it is truly a dark and 'spooky' place with the power being off. All along both rooms are your regular office supplies, from papers to scissors, staples to paper clips, and many other office supplies. Even coffee mugs and little magnets. Computer screens are also scattered about, yet they are the only things that do not turn on even when the power is restored. "Good luck..." The female No Data states, and suddenly the hallway they were in vanished with her in it, leaving Fenroar and Sílfide alone in this place. "Fenroar , once you stand on the opposite side of the central pole, I'll begin the count down, in which you may start your battle." A female robotic tells them as her voice echoed throughout the office. Once Fractal would place herself there, she would start the fight. "3... 2... 1... Fight" (You both may start your match, good luck) Edited by L Dragon, May 10 2012, 01:58 PM.

"Just call me, Fen," Fenroar replied, although the female No Data likely won't. As Fenroar followed the No Data to his arena, he tries his best to not get nervous and give the fight his all. However, when he saw his opponent, something seemed familiar, taking him a couple seconds until he remembered. "Wait a minute," Fenroar said as the two walked, when it suddenly occurred to him. "You're the flamingo who was drunk earlier!" He remembers, he thinks. The one who freaked him out earlier not long after first entering the lobby, not used to seeing drunken talking birds. However, before he realized it, he was at his appointed arena. The Haunted Office where the No Data then instructed him to go to the other side of the central pole. This is like a bad dream, Fenroar reacted, slightly surprised by his arena. When he entered the tournament, he expected something more... arena-y. Not an office. But whatever. The office seems odd, and spooky, with tons of office supplies everywhere as well as dried blood. He noticed the several machines everywhere. Yes, this is good, Fenroar thought to himself. Seeing so many electrical devices and machines as well as a control panel means he won't likely have to worry about running out of electricity, and it might even give his powers a boost, especially with metal around as well. Of course, his opponent, Silfide, may have a few surprises up her sleeve as well. Fenroar sighed as the female No Data began the countdown, and the battle is about to begin at last. He wondered if he should tell his opponent, Silfide, the same thing he told to Chaos. About showing as least anger, fear, and lust as possible while giving it all. He shrugged it off though, as he checked his supplies to make sure everything was there, when the No Data finished. "3... 2... 1... Fight" With that, Fenroar sat on a nearby machine, deciding to see what his opponent does first. |

Sílfide walked quickly alongside the female No Datas and her opponent on the way to the arena, not looking at either, refusing to pay attention to anything other than her purpose here. Then Fen talked to her, and she glanced at him, confused. "No, that wasn't me," she said. "I don't drink." She didn't say a word for the rest of the trip. She looked around at the poorly lit office that was their arena when they entered. It reminded her of the way the rainforest looked in the dead of night as the thick canopy of trees above blocked even the light of the moon and stars. She'd had to hunt in such conditions during her childhood in the Amazon, and was no stranger to the dark. Aside from the darkness, the arena was rather unfamiliar to her. She'd only left the Amazon two years ago for more urban areas for education, and she'd still not gotten used to all the modern technologies and customs. Though she kept a straight face, the lobby and its sophistication had really impressed her. These large machines littered about the office seemed as alien to her. She looked at Fen briefly before the No Data began her countdown. "3... 2... 1... Fight" She stood there, unsure really of what she was supposed to do. She was slightly relieved when she saw Fen sitting on one of the machines; perhaps he was also confused. Or perhaps he knew what he was doing, and was just allowing her to make the first move. She always liked to make a point of choosing black when she played chess (a game she'd taken a fancy to in her short time among modern civilization; it reminded her of a similar game they'd played in her home village) so that she wouldn't have to go first. Uneasy, she kept her hand on her kukri and her eyes on Fen as she climbed on top of a desk behind her, crouching when her feet were planted on it. It wobbled a bit due to the uneven and unreliable tiles on the floor. Suddenly she remembered something she'd planned to do when the fight began: An oral ritual in her religion that was performed on animals that were injured during a hunt and were to be put down. You may take that as you will, she thought. She disliked men. They'd never given her a reason to like them, only reasons to distrust them. She used her left hand (her right still firmly planted on her kukri) to pull out her holy book. She glanced back and forth between Fen and the book as she looked for the correct passage. Then she read aloud to him, half by reading and half by memory, editing some parts that only applied to dying animals and not to competitors in a nonlethal fight. "'I apologize, friend of the land, that it must end this way. But it is through your sacrifice, and my victory, that Our God shall be glorified and I continue to glorify Him. Your defeat will not be in vain, as it is part of His plan and His plan shall always exalt Him. May your feelings be not of sadness, but of happiness, not of regret, but of anticipation for the good your defeat will bring to all and the glory it will bring Our God. Amen.'" The proper way to end these prayers was not "amen," but she used it in lieu of the technically proper term as it would likely be more familiar to him. She hoped he did not confuse her for a Christian for it, though. Her religion was often confused for Christianity, but it wasn't. It was different, much different, it just sounded very similar when translated into more commonly used languages. In the language of her tribe, it was distinct. But very few even knew the tribe existed, and fewer knew the language. She stared at Fen intently, waiting to see how he would react. |

"No, that wasn't me," she said. "I don't drink." "..." Fen sighed. Guess that was somebody else. Ah well. It was just me and talking birds at the time, and it was... kinda... weird. She didn't say anything for the rest of the trip though of course. Fenroar simply continued watching, looking like she's confused. However, that easily went away when she climbed back onto a desk and took out some book. Fen raised a brow, still unfazed with a lazy expression on his face, laying down on his side. Amen.'" Fenroar did notice she seems a bit uneasy, with her other hand clenching tightly onto her kukri, despite her opening speech. Although he's trying not to show it, he's a bit nervous himself, like all the fighters except for the odd robot he saw in the lobby before his match. "Um, uh," Fenroar shouted back. "Ditto!" Then came an awkward few but long seconds, where neither of them did anything. It seems they're both somewhat similar, preferring to let the other attack first. Fenroar sighed, as knowing the judges, they'll probably do something themselves if they don't get a move on. "Well, good luck!" Fenroar told Silfide, still in the same position, as he slightly moved his finger tips, barely noticeable, as suddenly all the papers on the desks between the two went flying in the air, blocking Silfide's view of Fenroar. Although Silfide should only feel a small gust of normal wind, papers are now scattered everywhere in the air, as well as some pens and pencils and some things falling, and Fenroar uses this to quickly hide, moving around the office in the darkness without making a sound. Being a thief and an acrobat, he definitely knows stealth, and Fenroar begins developing a plan as he quietly moves around, hoping to put some fear into her. |

Hm, she thought. Not the reaction she was expecting. She imagined that he didn't quite understand. Few people do. It's a sadly microscopic religion, known only to few cultural researchers in Brazil. And then the room turned into a storm of office supplies, paper and pens flying about. She quickly stood, drawing her kukri. To lose the prey is to lose the hunt, she remembered from what her grandmother had once told her. She returned her book to its place strapped in the back of her belt and tried not to hold too tightly to her kukri. Then she balanced herself on one leg, closed her eyes and focused on her sense of hearing, trying to listen over the rustling paper for the sound of footsteps. No such luck. She couldn't hear anything over the paper storm. No choice but to ask of a favor. She began to recite from memory: "Our God of Strength and Power, give me the strength to overcome my worldly form and to redistribute it, offering concealment in existence and companionship in self." The effect was immediate. She saw the three clones appear on desks around her when she opened her eyes, and they all exchanged terse nods before moving, scattering among each other in the dark paper storm. Each of them then hid around the office, two even crawling beneath the panels on the ground to the floor beneath them. They all looked exactly alike, offering no way to distinguish the true Sílfide among them. If he wants to scare me, he'll have to try harder, she thought. I'm staying on top of this. |

Clones? Fenroar reacted, as three clones of Silfide suddenly scattered after her speech. Continuing to watch in the darkness, neither of them stumbled onto him, who's hiding under the desk, not making the slightest sound. It seems obvious though she has to focus and shout out words or whatever in order to do this, making Fenroar wonder if all her attacks operate like this. Of course, it won't be as easy as it seems if true. It seems likely Silfide has some sort of defense in case she gets dragged into close combat. Fenroar sighed, and quietly moved around the office, putting a hand on each machine he walked by. He then noticed a Silfide nearby, and Fenroar groaned. There's no way to tell if it's clone or not. Is each clone just as strong as Silfide herself? Maybe they'll disappear after a hit. Regardless, he took out his sword, the Genesis Sword, and pointed it at her. A few seconds later, decently charged, electricity swarmed out of the blade and straight at the Silfide he saw. Being able to charge it for a bit, she should be momentarily stunned, and left wide open for an opening. Fenroar is not expecting her to dodge it, electricity moves incredibly fast, although it shouldn't be that painful, as he didn't charge it enough for that. As soon as the electricity unleashed from his blade, he immediately backed it up by running straight at the flamingo, intending to strike her down before she realizes it. Of course, Fenroar is not expecting it to be the real Silfide, unless he gets lucky. |

The Sílfide was struck by the bolt of electricity from the sword and froze completely. The illusion began to break down, dissolving before Fen reached her with the sword, leaving nothing but a wisp of smoke in the air. The sound of a tile being lifted and jumped down was heard behind Fen, signifying that all three remaining Sílfides were now in the second room. Sílfide couldn't help herself. She was too reminded of exciting games of hide and seek from her youth. She shouted, causing the two clones to shout as well, "Catch me if you can!" The three voices were perfectly synchronized, offering a subtle harmony among them. That was stupid, she thought. Why did I do that? She held onto her kukri even tighter. |

((You mean the floor below?)) Figured, Fenroar reacted, as he quickly turned around and stared at the noise, sounding like the Silfide clones jumped down to the floor below. Catch me if you can, the three of them shouted out. "Nah, not interested," Fenroar replied, sheathing his sword back in its case as he walked around the office and placed his hand on each machine, this time a bit longer then previously. He then made his way to the central pole, uninterested in playing hide and seek with Silfide, which is likely what she wants. |

((Figured it was the same thing, really. Two rooms, each on different floors.)) Sílfide listened for the sound of footsteps above her head. After a bit of walking around, they seemed to end in the center of the room, towards the pole that seemed to be in the same place on both floors. She followed them, leading her to the square pole in the center of the room. A strip of red light at the bases of the pole cast an eerie effect on the floor and ceiling. On all sides of the column was a large switch. The clones all closed in on the column, examining it. Then their time was up, and they disappeared into puffs of smoke, leaving only the real Sílfide. She carefully put a hand on the switch, wondering whether she was brave enough to pull it. Perhaps it would restore the power, bringing the lights on. She shook her head, taking her hand off. She'd prefer the cover of dark. She decided to make use of this pole, though, to launch a sneak attack. She wraps herself around it and begins to climb, heading towards the tile that she last heard footsteps. As she reached about half way, her foot accidentally flipped the switch. The red strips of light around the pole turned green, the lights came on, and a loud, high pitched noise shrieked from the machines around the offices. The loud sound made it difficult to focus on climbing, much less anything, so she tightly grabbed the column she was climbing as she waited for the sound to go away. The hope that it would go away was the only thing she could think. |

"Graagh," Fenroar reacted, as he stumbled back, when the loud noise and lights suddenly began to go off, which is strange. His plan was to activate it himself, but somebody below must have beaten him to it. Silfide, Fenroar thought. Although the light and noise was distracting, Fenroar tried his best to ignore it, instead wondering how adapted the peacock is to the sound as he took back out the Genesis Sword. Silfide has to be somewhere near the electric pole below Fenroar, and quickly, he made himself float in the air, took a deep breath as he charged electricity through his body with his legs emitting some small bolts, and then used the wind to force himself at the floor with his feet. The impact caused Fenroar to easily go through the floor, bringing down the tiles and some nearby with it, and noticed Silfide on the pole as he fell. Fenroar landed on the ground with much force, creating a powerful shockwave on the ground due to the combination of his electricity and wind. The shockwave sent several desks and supplies flying into the air, spinning and making the scene more chaotic, as even more tiles from above fell down. Silfide would have a hard time holding onto the pole from the shockwave, and might even feel a jolt through her body. Fenroar stumbled onto the floor, dazed from the light and noise, but kept his hand clenched tightly onto the sword as he slowly got himself back up, trying to find Silfide among the chaos. |

The blast from behind Sílfide, combined with the jolt of electricity that came too, caused her to lose her grip on the column and fall down. She quickly looked around, disoriented, and then her eyes fixed on the lever. She fumbled for it, finally managing to turn it off. She was breathing heavily as she bolted off, vaulting over desks that had been flung around by the blast of Fen coming down, trying to find a place to hide. Please, God, don't let me die, she prayed, scared out of her wits by everything that just happened. She found a desk far from the epicenter and ducked under it, trying to regain her composure. She calmed her breath, and bit her tongue for acting so childish and scared. The noise... it was just like the noise she heard then; the soundtrack to when she lost everything. She shook her head, calming herself. That was over, that was gone, not to be worried about ever again. She loosened her grip on her kukri (which had been clutched tightly in her hand ever since she first drew it when the battle started) and began to strategize. She'd have to be on the move, or else Fen might turn the power back on, along with that terrible noise, in order to flush her out, or at least make it easy to find her. Time to go on the offensive, she decided. She began sneaking around and under desks, returning to the center of the room where she last saw Fen. |

Fenroar was disoriented as well, unable to tell much among the place, but it seemed Silfide was no better. The flamingo immediately scrambled for the lever after painfully landing on the ground, seeming slightly scared as she bolted off. Fenroar attempted to follow, but tripped over one of the legs of a fallen desk. "Ow," Fenroar moaned, quickly getting back up as his dizziness from the chaos disappeared. Fenroar smirked though, as it seemed his attack combined with the light and noise definitely scared her, proving that despite her rather powerful speeches that she isn't as composed as he thinks. He heard some slight rustling somewhere, though it's too hard to tell where it exactly is. "Hiding again?" Fenroar yelled, echoing throughout the room, not sure what she's doing. "Catch me if you can!" Fenroar shouts, mocking her earlier statement from earlier in a playful tone. He dislikes stealth battles, he finds them too boring. Maybe he should turn the lever back on. Although the noise in particular was a huge annoyance, Fenroar thinks he has a decent chance to adapt to the said noise as well as the bright light. That's when Fenroar remembered how the flamingo had to be focused and say some words earlier to create her clones, which seemed nothing more then illusions after striking one of them down. That's it, Fenroar remembered, as he smiled and playfully ran to the lever, curious to see what Silfide does, doing some of his acrobatic cartwheels along the way while clenching onto his sword. The noise and light has to put her on a disadvantage. |

Damn, too late, Sílfide thought, there goes that idea. She began to whisper a prayer, pouring her focus into memory and devotion to ensure that it was answered. "Our God of Wisdom and Power, lend to me a swarm of the smaller friends of the land to assist in my engagement against those who wish to combat you and your followers." As the prayer went on, her voice grew louder until it was an almost desperate scream as she watched Fen near the column and the lever. She remained on the move, though, circling around, hiding behind displaced desks caused by the blast, so as to confuse him. When her prayer finished, a loud buzzing could be heard, a swarm of locusts emerging from the darkest shadows of the office, homed in on Fen. But still she moved, trying to get behind Fen without him spotting her, hoping the swarm would be an adequate distraction. Her first priority: somehow destroy that column. |

Fenroar was almost at the lever once more when he heard Silfide once again, sounding rather desperate this time, which only confirmed Fenroar's theory, judging by how her voice raised and sounded more frightful as he got closer. She must be planning an actual attack this time, as Silfide didn't bother hide the sound of her steps, and Fenroar could hear the flamingo right behind him somewhere. However, that didn't seem to be his biggest concern at the moment when he strangely heard some loud buzzing. He turned around and suddenly saw a swarm of locusts while in a cartwheel, only inches away from the lever, stopping Fenroar right in his tracks. "Oh no," Fenroar yelled. "Not bugs!" Fenroar then found himself swinging wildly at the locusts, cutting only a few of them down, when deciding this method is pointless. Bugs and insects are something that Fenroar doesn't like much, and was often teased over it by his friends. Fen quickly decided to jump and float into the air with his wind powers, though it seems likely the locusts will simply swarm around him once more. Despite this, he quickly went towards the pole, but the panel and lever was near the floor and he's near the ceiling, and the locusts stood in between. "Waaagh," Fenroar reacted, as he placed a hand on the pole and began flailing his sword wildly at the locusts, soon floating away to try and lose them. |

Sílfide smirked when she saw Fen's reactions to the swarm. Perhaps this was what he felt when he saw her frightened by the sound of the machines. She neared the opposite side of the column from Fen and began searching it for some kind of panel that she could pry open and tear the circuitry apart, but had no such luck. It was just an impervious metal device with levers and lights. She couldn't tell if it could be even remotely possible to deactivate it somehow, but then again, she was no electrician. Her only option at this point was to fight him, and to prevent him from turning the power back on and triggering another nervous breakdown for her. She wrapped around the column, following the sound of Fenroar's terrified yelling. She saw him floating near the ceiling, swatting away the locusts frantically but in vain, constantly moving around. This was not what she had hoped for. Her long range capabilities were extremely limited at best, and nonexistent at worst. She, being a mobian, was only about three feet tall and could not reach him, floating ten feet above her. However, despite being a flamingo, she could not fly because one of her wings was clipped long ago in an odd incident involving a crocodile and a jaguar. She couldn't fly with just one wing. She thought of trying to climb the column again, but decided against it considering what happened last time. Then she had an idea. She scanned the room for the staircase and bolted towards it, and then ascended them two at a time. Once she arrived in the original room, she followed the sound of the buzzing from below to find where Fenroar had flown to. She opened up a tile nearby and held onto the ledge with one arm, the other armed with her poisoned kukri. She found herself amid the outer layers of the swarm, but knew that God would give her protection against the locusts. She started swinging her poisoned blade at Fen, hoping to connect and open a gash, or at the very least nick him enough for the poison to kick in, before she could no longer hold on and had to drop back down. |
