"Darkness becomes light. Light falls into darkness. Dreams are connected to each other. When you fall into a dream You are connected through dreams to "The world enclosed in sleep". And if you open the "Keyhole of sleep" in that world... The world will be released..." Yen Sid ![]() Story Major Spoilers Development It is known that the game is the next major release in the Kingdom Hearts series, and it features both Sora and Riku as playable characters, both feature new designs which look similar to their Kingdom Hearts appearance. Utilizing the 3DS's high-spec graphics processing, the game has graphics that are on-par with those of the PS2 titles, as well as making use of the system's 3D technology such as "falling from high places" and "flying far distances". The development team is currently selecting worlds, planning to use all-new Disney worlds, along with Traverse Town and other original worlds, one of which has been revealed to be based on The Hunchback of Notre Dame (although the world itself has already been featured in the non-canonical The Sceptre and the Kingdom). Nomura has stated that, with the parallel development of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, he will make sure to retain any game elements that can't be put in Final Fantasy Versus XIII for use in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Nomura has also stated that the transition between playing as Sora and playing as Riku will be forced upon and sudden, and can occur while simply walking around. The game also has the keyword of "drop", as in something falling. The 3D effect of the Nintendo 3DS will be used more for "going into the screen" rather than things popping out, as well. In the July's issue of Weekly Famitsu, Nomura stated that the game will focus on the "hidden data" inside of Sora and development of the game was 40-50% finished, with voice recording to begin soon after. A secret movie was confirmed, along with new characters that will appear in Traverse Town. Nomura also stated that the Xehanort Saga will end with Kingdom Hearts III and there will be "answers" about Kingdom Hearts III in Dream Drop Distance. A playable demo was available at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show, which revealed that Neku Sakuraba, the protagonist from The World Ends with You, would appear in the game, along with two new allies, the Koumori Bat and the Wonder Meow. Sora is seen with the Wonder Meow and Kuma Panda Dream Eaters as his allies while Riku is seen with the Koumori Bat and Goat Horn Dream Eaters as his allies. A new type of enemy known as Dream Eaters were also shown. The November 2011 issues of Famitsu and V Jump confirmed two worlds based on Pinocchio, "Prankster's Paradise", and another based on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, "La Cite des Cloches". A December issue of V Jump revealed a new world based on Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers, as well as Joshua and Beat from The World Ends with You set to be in Traverse Town along sides with Neku. On the new updated Square Enix website Square Enix reveals information about the Drop Gauge. When the Drop gauge empties, your character will switch from Sora to Riku or vice versa, depending on who your character is. During Jump Festa 2012, a playable demo and an eight-minute trailer were shown. Axel, Lea, a young Master Xehanort, Vanitas, Roxas, Xion, Kairi, Namine, Ventus, Rinzler, Maleficent, and Pete along with Joshua, Shiki, Beat and Rhyme from The World Ends with You were shown in the trailer. A world based off Tron: Legacy, called The Grid, was revealed, where like in Kingdom Hearts II, there will be a data form for both Sora and Riku. The Keyblade Graveyard was also shown. Release Date: July 31 Developer/Publisher: Square Enix Genre: Console action Role-playing game ![]() I was so surprised to not see a topic about this already. So figured I might as well post one. Especially since its release is looming on the horizon. ![]() Staff Note: Please use spoiler tags next time. Edited by Special Operative Blaire, May 5 2012, 05:41 AM.

I guess there hasn't been one made yet since most of the people interested in it just seem to talk about it around Casino Park. |P Anyway, this game is on my list of 3DS games I'll probably pick up. It's been flying under my radar for a while, but then again most KH games do with me. The TWEWY part looks really neat though~ Also, not sure why there are commas in the topic title. Pretty sure it's just 'Dream Drop Distance'. But not a big deal, I guess. |

Um. Hello. YOU JUST SUMMARIZED THE ENTIRE GAME FOR US. Can a mod please put that in spoilers? Or better yet, just delete everything after the first paragraph. I immediately skipped over upon seeing you mentioning Xehanort and Xemnas, though now I saw vague details that slightly spoiled things for me. Sorry, I'm really paranoid about spoilers. But-just-why did you put everything in there? ANYWAY, I have been looking forward to this since being first revealed. It's definitely my most anticipated game this summer, and I plan on pre-ordering it. Those Dream Eaters look adorable, and I love the alternate Sora/Riku switching. I know somebody who imported the game from Japan, and basically they said it's best KH yet to them, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. |

I object to your claims

From now on people, please put certain things in spoilers. Some people do not want the entire story spoiled for them. |

Sorry about that Fen. I probably wasn't thinking about that. Guess I should be a little more careful. Or at least not post at 1 in the morning. But yeah been looking forward to this for a while. And the Sora/Riku switch mechanic looks interesting. When I read how it was supposed to work I was a tad skeptical till I saw some gameplay videos of the Japanese version. My skepticism went out the window soon after.Plus the inclusion of the Dream Eaters looks to be an useful mechanic. It kinda reminds me of the Monster System in FFXIII-2. According to an interview with Famitsu, the game is around 35 Hours long. More if you decide to play the minigames. |

Haha, it's fine. Understandable. Like I said, I'm just really paranoid about spoilers. Prefer to go into a game knowing least as possible. xD Yeah, that's what the Dream Eaters remind me of as well. I'm usually not a big fan of the concept of monster recruiting in the game, but I really liked XIII-2's monster recruiting. Hoping Dream Eaters can be as good as that for me. |

I don't know if I'll be getting this game. Originally, I was totally hyped up and in a way, I still am, but I don't have a 3DS and I'm not sure I want to buy one just for one game. In any case, my sister does have 3DS of her own. I wager she'll get it and if it has more than one save slot like KH 358/2 Days, she'll probably let me have a file to myself, and lend me both the game and console, so it's cool. |

Small news, but news nonetheless. Seems likely the next bit of big news for the US will come at E3. Kingdom Hearts 3D demo to come to North America via Nintendo eShop for free. No release date announced but it should be fairly close. |

I'd be excited, except that's the exact same trailer I watched a million times forever ago. Except with English audio instead of Japanese, is all. Still an epic video, though. |

Yeah. Just now watched it. That's what I realized. But aaahhh. I wonder. Are those the same english voice actors from the actual Tron Legacy for said characters? They sound alike, but I just want to make sure. It's so nice to hear the english version though, felt like forever. Plus, Neku and Joshua. <3 |

Sorry for double post, but significant news. Pre-order goodies and a special "Mark of the Mastery" edition for KH3D. Definitely think I'm getting both. |
