See that little Tomatometer score? Yeah; there's a reason it's that high.

What I'll reveal to you guys is that this is not another retarded slasher film with dumb teenagers getting offed in the woods. It's been affectionately called a "love-hate letter to horror," playing on all of the stupid tropes of modern horror films that make us rage but giving those tropes proper logic, stretching meta concepts as far as they can go, and throwing in amazing fanboy fodder on top of it, all the while delivering a story that makes perfect sense within its own universe. Also, it is funny as hell.

This is one of the best films you'll see that's out right now, so go see it before you all waste your money on The Avengers and forget about it. xP Or if you have seen it, let's talk about it. Spoiler everything, however. This film is most effective when you don't know anything about it.

I have actually heard of this movie! I think I'm going to watch, it seems very interesting and I been wanting to watch a good horror for a while now. (Recent ones have failed epically to impress me. ;v;). Still haven't though, and might end up waiting till DVD, especially with the Avengers coming out soon...

CitW was an amazing film, I really respected what it did and found it very very enjoyable. I caught it with a friend and we agree that it has potential to be a top 5 caliber movie this year even though we have already seen Hunger Games and are strongly looking forward to this blockbuster summer year with Dark Knight Rises, Avengers, and Promethius immediately coming to mind.

It's hard to go into detail talking about this movie without spoiling it but I have it on my MUST SEE list for the year.. anyone who enjoys movies would enjoy it, anyone who loves any form of horror or good popcorn movie will LOVE it.

I object to your claims
But...but I'm not a horror movie fan... =<

Blaire.. I'm willing to bet that, even as someone who isn't a fan of horror, that you will love the movie. It's one of those movies that I think anyone could enjoy as long as they give it a shot, it is THAT awesome.

In the end, I'm not even sure you can classify this film as horror given the actual intentions of the storyline (I'm not even sure what genre it falls under, if any). There are scary moments in a classical and cheesy 80s way, but it's not in the vain of something like Saw or The Crazies where it's played straight and all the film has to offer.

I might see this now that you said it's a good movie. I like horror movies, some, and I'd love to see a new, actually good ones. All the ones that I'm seeing lately suck. I might see this, I'm still deciding.

Wait, Joss Whedon is doing this?

...Where can I get tickets for this roller coaster ride? No seriously, where can I get tickets. Because I love Joss Whedon's cleverly written stuff.

I will definitely consider seeing this film, that's for sure.

My! That's a pretty snazzy performance there!
A lot of people in my classes said that this was an awesome movie; one even considered it the best movie this year already. Now I am not a big fan of watching horror movies, but I cannot help but awe at the creativity in making these movies. I actually saw Insiduos last year, and to me while it was not that scary, the story and acting was awesome good. I actually might grab a girl and watch this while my arm is losing blood circulation. :3

I've seen Insidious too, and to me that film took a nose dive once we got info-dumped on what was happening and the father had to enter that garish carnival world of nightmares. The actual mystery and the tone of the climax just didn't match the tension of the first two acts. Kind of a bummer.

Cabin in the Woods, however, circumvents this by establishing its universe and tone properly and running with it to the extremes. Nothing in the film feels out of place or a betrayal of anything that came before it. It's hight-concept stuff that works well.
