"Mercenary work? Not exa-" Hooooold up. Laevatienn interrupted himself mentally and quickly backtracked over what had just been said. Hire... Hire means work... Work mean money... Money means food... Ah, no, wait! More importantly, mercenary work means going places! Going places means a higher chance of finding Legendary Weapons - wasn't that the original purpose of this quest of mine? I feel like I keep forgetting about it - and even if I don't, they wouldn't be hiring mercenaries if there wasn't evil to smite, or something like that. So... in summary... free travel, excitement practically thrown into my lap, and presumably enough pay to keep me fed for... uh... a while at least. I'd better jump onto this opportunity; it might not present itself again. "Ahaha, uh, what I mean to say is," he quickly corrected himself, "I didn't exactly come here expressly for that, but now that you mention it, it's certainly a much more viable option than what I had considered earlier." He cleared his throat and held out his hand with a confident grin. "I'm Laevatienn, by the way; might I ask for your name?" |

I object to your claims

Sally had answered Blaire’s query with a voice as smooth and as cool as ice. Well…yes, I am. Blaire couldn’t help the knowing grin that came to her lavender-furred muzzle. “I knew it. My father heard your name mentioned from time to time while he was in the Great War.” The husky was about to say more, when the princess held a paw up in the universal signal for ‘stop’. Please, don’t bow at me or anything like that. Though it’s useful, I prefer not to lean on that title, unless I have to. For longer than I’ve been alive, I’ve associated less with being the daughter of one of the oldest monarchial dynasties on the planet, than being a leader of resistance group…and that has challenges enough. Blaire clasped her paws behind her back, that shrewd smile still creeping up on her snout. She glanced upwards, as if sending the heavens a telepathic message. “Haha, I can certainly relate to that.” Just…please, call me Sally. “Fine by me, Sally,” the dog told her, nodding in understanding. Now then, to happier matters. First off, you are definitely here to help us? That’s wonderful! The canine was not prepared when the squirrel suddenly grabbed her paws in her own as a form of greeting, recoiling back in surprise. She took quick note of the jovial smile that had since crossed Sally’s visage and the energetic tone of voice she was speaking to the dog with. And second, welcome home! I hope you find New Mobotropolis to your liking! “With scenery this beautiful, how can I not?” We can talk more on the way. I’m currently headed out of the city for a brief moment. I’m headed outside to meet the people who landed outside the walls…unless you were with them? Which, if that is the case, you could have landed at our airport. “You know what the ironic thing is?” Blaire questioned, arching an eyebrow. “The fact that a friend and fellow Division agent brought me here, in his team’s plane no less, brought me here. However, he landed outside the walls, and I haven’t seen anyone else. He didn’t land at any airport thought. Which is probably a good thing with the way he lands,” the Siberian Husky finished cryptically. “And another thing,” she continued, looking longingly at the scenery. “Who does your gardening? We could certainly use Mobians with this sort of artistic talent in the realm of Horticulture. At the very least they could help us get rid of a bunch of very troublesome branches from the trees of the forest right outside our village.” |

Malachi glanced at the blue hedgehog for a couple seconds. He then, began to smile. "Your old man already told you my name..." he said. He set his book down and took a bite out of his dessert again. His ear twitched at the sound of other people talking around him. Another thing he did not have that much patience for is so much noise around him. But, he ignored the noise and focused on what Sonic and Jules were talking about. He cleared his throat again. He offered his hand to Sonic. "Nice to meet you, kid..." he said. |

Sethos turned his glaze from Rotor for a brief moment to that of the individual that caught Rotor's attention briefly, he spotted an female Mobian that resembled a breed of canine in one of his old books, an Asiatic wild dog or Dhole he believed it was called if he could remember correctly... but what caught his attention more than anything else was the strange skeletal familiar accompanying her. It grabbed his attention for what seemed like minutes as he dissected the peculiar familiar with his eyes from afar before he turned his attention back to Rotor. He glazed on the councilman for a moment before making his response, "I... can't explain or even state my purpose for being here, at least... not out here in the open that is, much has changed in this world since I last entered it, and from what I can tell... you're in a time of war with an enemy whom is hungry for absolute power, and I prefer not to give anything to that kind of person, be it information or technology... all I can say is that it's something I absolutely must do to ensure I continue to exist in this life. As for the offer you've been attempting to push forward to me since you first spoke a word to me, I am intrigued by your proposal... as many before that have, but I prefer not to get involved in bloodshed... for you see, I'm not a warrior... a soldier... a war dog... I cannot help you fight, but this does not mean I decline your offer... in fact, I will be glad to help, but not as a weapon... but perhaps as a tool, a wrench or a hammer to shape your weapons. Does that sound good enough to you, Councilman?" he said as he finished his speech. But he made one more quick remark to the Mobian in front of him, in response to an earlier comment. "Oh, and... while I did say that I will neither approve or deny any of the stories made up about me... I will outright state and disprove any of those stories that assume that I kidnap children... which I absolutely don't, Councilman." Edited by Virgil, Jun 17 2012, 12:56 AM.

TIME TO REALLY EXPLODE!
|
Ryou, after spending a few minutes or so watching the confrontation between the walrus and the masked "Overlander", decided to keep on moving to find his contact. He didn't think the discussions they were having were guaranteed to result in physical violence, but it couldn't hurt to be prepared nonetheless. He continued on, walking past both characters and toward his contact network's pawn shop. He wondered how he would fight such a creature if the situation ended up calling for it. Surely the Overlander's size and supposed weight would result in cumbersome movements, thought Ryou. There was also the possibility of firearms, not only concealed in his clothing but perhaps even integrated into the Overlander's frame as well. And, Ryou added in his mind, this was assuming this strange man had no powers or anything... supernatural to call upon. It would certainly be a tricky fight, to say the least. Now Ryou was intrigued about this Overlander's battle capabilities. As he walked, he passed by a crimson-furred, female dhole. Ryou couldn't help but glance. Her wares seemed... interesting, as did her attire. She wore clothing that seemed strange to Ryou, but he chalked it up to be a local thing, or perhaps a costume to entice onlookers. It certainly made him look, though her being easy on the eyes may have also had a hand in that. Next to the dhole was what Ryou assumed to be some sort of animatronic or stuffed zombified dog. It was certainly something to behold. "How elaborate..." he muttered to himself, chuckling. Of course, his amusement soon turned to surprise as the dog began to walk. Its movements were far too... organic to be anything artificial. Ryou wondered how such a creature hadn't died from sepsis... but eventually decided that the dog had to be a REALLY good android. Ryou shook his head and regained his composure, continuing to walk before finally arriving at his contact's shop. Ryou was a fan of said shop being located towards the back; hell, it was near invisible unless you walked at the right angle, being sandwiched by two other larger shops. Of course, what was displayed to the denizens of the market was the least interesting of the items located in that shop. In the cellar was where the more intriguing of wares were located. He stepped forward, making sure no one was in earshot, and whispered the code phrase to the Siamese cat: "He who shoots first, dies last." |

Home for the Holidays
|
Sierra continued packing her goods into a little crate, but she was soon aware of the eyes on her. Too many. Her ears burned as she lifted the crate onto her store counter and glanced back at Rotor and the Boogeyman, just able to catch their eyes flicking back to each other. ""So I comprehend," the walrus replied. "It has been a while since I've heard the stories, but let's see if I recall correctly." He began listing off a number of rumors that Sierra herself had heard before. Her ears followed the conversation while her eyes turned on the last pair of eyes to bear down on her. "... perhaps we can find some way to help you in your tasks. As a bit of payment for services rendered, of course. Interested?" He was an iguana, and almost as heavily-cloaked in garb as the Boogeyman. Again, she caught him as his glance switched to Nero. Soon enough, even the skeleton dog lost his attention, and the reptile continued on toward a little nook in the marketplace. By then, the large Overlander had finished his response to Rotor. It was a great opportunity. "Actually!" She called to the two of them, causing Nero to jump up in surprise. The little familiar confusedly followed his master along. "What are you up to now, Erra?" They'd already crossed the short distance that had seperated them from the walrus and Overlander, and Sierra paid the black dog no mind. "Mr. Oogey seems to be on to something there!" She grinned, clapping her hands behind her back. Nero simply cocked his head. "I was going to head for the castle, but I guess your confrontation here saved me the trip. I'd also like to offer my services to Acorn as well." |
