>[CONCEPT]
Name: Laevatienn 'Knight of Tigers' Dante Gender: Male Race: Human Age: 19
Essence: Dynamic Nature: Martyr Demeanour: Trickster
Appearance: Laevatienn's physique is slight (ectomorphic body build) and his skin is somewhat paler than most people's since he tends to avoid sunlight. His eyes are brown, and his black hair is short and messy (in a neat-ish kind of way), with one particular lock of hair standing up from the rest like a crescent moon-shaped antennae. Laevatienn typically wears black boots and pants, a white buttoned-up shirt with long sleeves, and a scarf and fingerless gloves in a matching shade of mid-tone grey. He dislikes short-sleeved shirts and especially despises shorts; this is partly due to his sensitivity to cold. Dainsleif and Areadbhar are carried over each shoulder; Dainsleif is sheathed over the right and Areadbhar is strapped to his back over the left with the head pointing up (to avoid spearing the backs of his own legs).

>[MISCELLANEOUS] Willpower: 5
Traits - Artefact: 5 - Eidolon: 5
Magic: Chaos: 2 Entropy: 3
Special Abilities:
Seal Creation Laevatienn's sole magical capability. Seals suppress magical effects on non-living objects, stopping the effect and placing it into a state of stasis. Won't work on living targets, as they 'circulate' magic and magical effect; seals cannot stop them for long enough to take effect, like someone chasing a particularly speedy pet to put a leash on it. The seals are created by writing out extensive spellwork on lengths of bandaging, then 'charging' the bandaging with magic (Eidolon 5 worth of Chaos Energy). At this point, the bandaging becomes a functioning seal and, once wrapped around the intended target, will suppress the magical effects specified in the seal's spellwork. While seals can be reused, each one must be custom-made for a specific object and effect to be sealed. It costs no energy to place a seal on the object, but removing it requires another charge (Eidolon 5 worth of Chaos Energy), and destroying the seal yet another charge (Eidolon 2 worth of Chaos Energy).
Combat Styles Unarmed stance: Being without formal training in any kind of unarmed combat and not at all confident in his skill without a weapon, Laevatienn fights using sheer survival instinct. He stands his ground, arms up in a defensive stance, waiting for his opponent to make the first move. If no approach is forthcoming, he will shuffle forward slowly so as not to expose gaps in his defences. When the enemy launches their inevitable attack, Laevatienn will swiftly attempt to parry or deflect the attack, then move in to attack the opponent's head with elbow thrusts or short 'snap' punches or knuckle strikes. If the opponent's guard is at any point sufficiently lowered, he will attempt a grapple attack; from this position, he can strangle the opponent or headbutt them with his mask (which protects him from damage while causing a respectable amount of blunt trauma to the target), but he will usually steer the opponent around with the intent of dashing them against the surrounding environment (walls, objects, the floor, etc) until they stop moving. It looks savage and desperate, but the truth is that he's actually savage, desperate AND maybe a little bit panicked.
Spear stance: In this stance, Laevatienn wields a weapon (typically Areadbhar, but it applies to any long weapon that he might come across, including improvised weapons) as a spear, focusing primarily on thrusting attacks; he stands with left shoulder forward, posture straight and with his left hand higher up the shaft than the right. This means that, while he can defend well against attacks coming from vertical angles and his right side, his left side is noticeably open. No particularly fancy techniques here; Laevatienn simply charges in to take the initiative and close distance and makes lunging thrusts at the opponent. If he has a height advantage or can afford to make a leap attack, he will reverse his grip on the weapon and drop down onto the target with an air-to-surface stab. If armed with an unsealed Areadbhar, his attacks become more involved; he will slash at the opponent with the spearhead, attempting to wear them down with burn damage from Areadbhar's flames. If the target tries to move out of range, he may use its flame-burst ability to direct their evasion patterns into his path. Lastly, if he gets close enough, he will release his left-handed grip on the spear and drive it into the opponent with a sweeping uppercut stab before using Areadbhar's flame-burst to finish them off.
Blade stance: Laevatienn's most preferred stance. He wields a weapon (typically Dainsleif, but it applies to any mid-length weapon that he might come across, including improvised weapons) as a sword or axe, utilising powerful sweeping attacks; he stands with his left shoulder forward, body slightly lowered with his weight on his back foot and with his right hand higher up the hilt than the left so that his wrists cross. In this stance, he can block attacks coming from horizontal angles and above, but attacks coming from below will slip under his guard. Laevatienn's attack patterns are quite versatile in this stance, but they are all characterised by large, arcing swings open to counterattack. Again, as with the Spear stance, he will always charge in to make the first move, adding momentum to his first swing in the process. While he is capable of 'chaining' attacks together, the momentum of his swings means that it takes him a beat to set the angle and direction of his next attack - usually by momentarily releasing his left-handed grip and using that hand to turn and push his right wrist. However, if even a single attack manages to land on an opponent, it's usually enough to knock them off their feet; weapons with a blade will ruin or even bisect limbs (or necks) entirely, depending on the weight and solidity of the blade. If armed with Dainsleif, his defensive margin and attack strength increases slightly due to it's long hilt - which provides more surface area for blocking as well as additional swinging leverage - but otherwise there is no change in his attack pattern unless it is unsealed. In this instance, Laevatienn may attempt to wear the opponent down with shorter, less powerful attacks; rather than trying to down the opponent in one strike, his focus turns to causing as many cuts as possible to maximise blood loss. This way, even if the opponent escapes, they will likely bleed out before the day is over.
Spear & Blade stance: A bizarre fighting style that would be completely impractical for anyone else. This can only be performed with Dainsleif and Areadbhar due to their unique combination of balance, length, weight and shape. Laevatienn stands straight and forward, Dainsleif resting on his right shoulder and Areadbhar in his left hand, spearhead slightly lowered. In this stance, he can guard against attacks coming from horizontal angles and above, but his lower guard remains open. However, with only one hand on each weapon, his ability to block dual-wielding opponents is offset by weaker overall blocking strength. Thus, he prefers to dodge attacks in this stance rather than parrying them. In this stance, Areadbhar is once again used for thrusting attacks, as well as feints and light attacks intended to direct the opponent's movements. Dainsleif is the real damage dealer, however; the initial attack coming from off Laevatienn's shoulder comes high and left, swung at the opponent's neck and shoulder in order to deal a decicive death blow. If that is evaded, however, Laevatienn will quickly segue into another slash from Dainsleif and a thrust with Areadbhar in the same movement, hopefully injuring or driving the opponent back enough to reset his stance or launch another series of sword swings. Naturally, if either of his weapons are unsealed, he becomes a far deadlier opponent. Typically he will unseal Areadbhar so as to make use of its finisher attack (see Spear stance above), but will unseal Dainsleif for opponents that are tougher, armoured and/or possess regenerative properties.
Equipment
Dainsleif The 'Cursed Blade of Certain Doom', an exceptionally lethal Legendary Weapon* from ancient Nordland. A double-edged bastard sword with a gunmetal-grey blade roughly 70cm long and 13cm wide and a dark-grey hilt about 50cm long with a knuckle guard that extends halfway down the hilt's length. Possesses three magical qualities: - Unfailing Strike: Should Dainsleif strike a target, the target will always sustain damage. Hitting an unarmoured person will always result in a cut, even a minor one (1 damage minimum). Hitting armour will severely damage the armour and deplete/ruin it's protective value, though the person wearing it may escape unscathed. - Wound Heals Not: Wounds caused by Dainsleif cannot be healed by natural or medical means, and magical healing will only be half as effective. This applies to wounds caused by any part of the weapon (cuts from the blade, bruises or broken bones from the hilt). Does not apply to inorganic targets. - 'Thirst For Death' Curse: If Dainsleif is unsheathed, it MUST cause a death before it is sheathed again. If a victim bleeds to death due to the Wound Heals Not effect, it will count as causing a death; however, if the victim dies from an infection in the wound, it will not count. He who draws the blade must be prepared to take a life, and is put at a great risk should the intended victim escape.
Areadbhar Ancient Mercia's 'Erupting Ignition Spear', a Legendary Weapon* supposedly containing enough quintessential fire to burn down an entire city. A thin yellow spear made from steel, spanning rougly 150cm from base to spear tip, with a thin, leaf-shaped spear head about 15cm long that curves inwards briefly towards the middle of the head. Possesses two magical qualities: - Sun's Eternal Fires: While Areadbhar's stock of flames is by no means infinite, the name of this quality comes from the fact that Areadbhar is fuelled by the sun. Due to the immense pressure of the fires contained inside the spear, the spear tip constantly leaks flame unless magically sealed or immersed in inflammable liquid. Furthermore, it can release blasts of flame by venting some of that pressure. These blasts are short-range (1m range), but are exceptionally hot and, coming from the sun, somewhat radioactive. Victims not consumed by nuclear fire are often left partially exploded by the concussive pressure blast. Note that Areadbhar's passively leaking flames are only as hot as commonplace fire and are not radioactive in any way. - 'Meltdown' Curse: Areadbhar's solar flames are barely controlled, constantly threatening to spill forth. Using the spear for over 20 minutes will result in a critical overheating situation, at which point the spear will seemingly explode, saturating the area within a 3km radius with fire, which will quickly spread if left unchecked. The wielder, being at ground zero, is probably dead. To avoid this scenario, one must either magically seal the spear or immerse it in non-flammable liquid before the 20 minute mark is reached. This is not an actual curse placed on the weapon, so much as a side-effect. Due to Areadbhar being perpetually alight and the abnormal nature of this curse, some speculate that Areadbhar is actually a poorly-made, perhaps faulty Legendary Weapon.
Tiger Stripe Mask A yellow mask with dark brown stripes on each 'cheek'. Completely smooth with no facial features. Seems to be made of ceramic. Quite mysterious in that no-one is entirely sure how Laevatienn sees out of it, how it stays on his face and where he keeps getting new ones from. *Notes on Legendary Weapons: Legendary Weapons possess the following two common properties: Firstly, they cannot be physically broken without continent-destroying power (be it magical, scientific or divine in nature). Secondly, in order to harness a Legendary Weapon's power, one must willingly and verbally claim 'possession' of the item. Thus, borrowing, safeguarding or 'caddying' the weapon does not count as taking possession of it (unless the lender/carrier verbally lays claim to it, even if it's a lie), whereas stealing or buying it will usually count depending on the circumstances. Furthermore, all Legendary Weapons carry some sort of curse in order to vent magical 'errors' arising from conflicting arcane harmonics within the enchantment's spell structure; having said that, the curse carried by a Legendary Weapon tends to be more or less unique to the weapon.
Free Point Distribution: 3pts -> +3 Eidolon Trait 2pts -> +1 Survival 2pts -> +1 Alertness 2pts -> +1 Acrobatics 5pts -> +1 Wits 1pt -> Merit/Flaw balancing
Merits and Flaws:
Code of Honour (+1 Merit) First: To be dedicated to the Greater Good; any actions taken must be undertaken with the intent to do as much good as possible. Relies on the principles of 'the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few' and 'the ends justifies the means'. Taking risks to maximise the fruits of a 'good' outcome is acceptable as long as the risk to others is not too great. Second: Be prepared to give one's own life for the sake of others. Less priority than above rules. Third: Do not lie. One's word is not to be broken. Misdirections and omissions of the truth are acceptable. Less priority than above rules. Fourth: Loyalty and faithfulness unto death. Once pledged to allegiance, service or any other similar oath, that oath is not to be broken. Less priority than above rules.
Acute Senses: Hearing (+1 Merit) Laevatienn's hearing is quite above average, allowing him to function fairly well (but not without problems) when blind.
Daredevil (+3 Merit) Being reckless and being in danger on a daily basis is rarely a good thing. Laevatienn, however, pulls it off. Is he actually some kind of tactical genius who masks his strategies with outlandishly rash actions? Has he gained some kind of anti-danger intuition that scrapes him through the situations he gets himself into? Or is he just unfarily lucky? Who knows~
Phobia: Spiders (-2 Flaw) Thanks to some trauma caused by a nasty spider bite years ago, Laevatienn has a severe aversion to any spider bigger than the head of a thumbtack. His first reaction is to put several metres of distance between him and the spider. If it's small and docile enough, he will try and avoid that area as much as possible, but if that's not an option, he will try to kill it from as far away as possible. And heaven help him if the spider is bigger than his hand...
Addiction: Food (-2 Flaw) For some reason, Laevatienn is always hungry. His metabolism and daily activity prevents him from gaining weight, but if the opportunity presents itself, he will snack on anything he can reach. While he can't afford to purchase large meals, if he can leech off someone else he'll order ridiculous amounts of food. Rarely seen without food in hand (or mouth). Has a particular weakness for sweet things.
Background:
as told by Laevatienn Dante "My life, huh? Let's see... Not much to tell before I took ahold of Dainsleif here. I was a normal guy living an irritatingly normal life. Just the same old boring life that happens to everyone.
"Found the sword lying in a bush at the bottom of a valley one day. Not sure who dropped it, or if they were even still alive when I claimed it. Legendary Weapons are really something else though; the moment I said to myself "I guess this is mine now", I just... knew what it was, everything about it, stuff like that. Good thing too; if I'd pulled it out of it's sheath without knowing, I'd've been in big trouble, what with the whole 'you gotta kill someone before you sheathe it' clause.
"So when I figured out what Dainsleif was, you know what I did? I went looking for another one. I started looking through any book I could find on myths and legends, hoping to find some clues as to where to find other Legendary Weapons. I guess I just wasn't satisfied with just one. Still aren't really. Not that I'm greedy or anything; I just want the excitement that follows them. Some thrillseekers jump off buildings and planes, or climb mountains. I want to see legends unfolding with my own eyes.
"Took me awhile to find another one, what with the whole 'need money to travel' problem. I nearly starved to death at least once a week (doesn't help that I eat a lot to begin with, y'know?), but I managed to get around a fair bit. Had high hopes for finding Durandal, since it's buried in a wall for the entire public to see, but as it turns out it was only a replica, and no-one I asked knew the whereabouts of the real thing.
"Finding Areadbhar was a stroke of luck and a half though. Found it three weeks - three weeks! - after I gave up on Durandal. Stumbled across a burned-down little village and found it in a charred cupboard buried under a tonne of wood and tiles. Dunno what the circumstances were that lead to it burning down the village, but I can tell you right now, I was terrified once I claimed it and realised what the curse was. Panicked for ten precious minutes before I managed to throw it into a river. Panicked for another ten while I chased it downstream.
"Keeping Areadbhar immersed in water made it too problematic to carry around. I had to figure out an alternative method of preventing mass arson. More research, yay... Just so you know, I was never much one for extensive study of non-fiction back in school. Anyways, uh... long story short, I managed to combine a few different 'occult' practices - paper charms, sigils, runes, a bit of this and that - and tried my hand at creating a seal to suppress Areadbhar's power. Turns out I had a knack for it, though to be honest I never expected any of that 'fake magic' stuff to work. Folks try to tell me I'm a mage or something, but I'm always like "No way, man; if I was, I'd be pitching lightning bolts and fiddling with people's minds or something."
"By that point, I was miles away from home, starving, and had a mythical sword and spear and no idea what to do with either of them. I thought about it quite seriously for the first time. What exactly was I going to do, now that I had a pair of Legendary Weapons?
"The answer was obvious. Become a hero! What? Don't look at me like that; it's every boy's dream to become a champion of justice! So, I got myself a mask, sealed both weapons to prevent any nasty accidents, and went out into the night to fight crime and punish evil! That sort of thing.
"Er, no, no it didn't go so well the first couple times. I learned pretty quickly though, and now, eh, I'm not too bad. Aw heck, I'm kidding, I'm the best! And of course, I still look for other Legendary Weapons when I have time and energy to spare.
"Speaking of which, thanks for the meal~. I'll leave the bill to you!"

Now after a couple days of writing, time for the moment of truth! CHARACTER SUBMISSION, GOO!
Section I - Concept:
Name: Sethos Ahuramazda Aliases: The ‘Chaos Engineer’ (primary title), The Tinkerer, The Mechanic, The Golem Mechanic, Seth, The Great Ahuramazda (least used title) Age: 500+ Gender: Male Race: Cybernetic Golem (formerly Human) Alignment: True Neutral Essence: Dynamic Nature: Innovator – Your unorthodox approach yields great results. Demeanor: Architect – You want to leave a legacy behind.
Appearance: In his human life, Seth was a tall and scrawny person with African features, he had really dark skin – even compared to other African descendants. He also had a very defined face, brown eyes, thin eyebrows, and a small goatee, and long black hair. After his transformation into a golem though, Seth has absolutely no resemblance to any ordinary person, Seth wears a long black robe with a large cowl over his entire body that is a bit torn to allow some of his mechanisms through the robe, he also ‘wears’ something akin to an old German gas mask on his face that had multiple lens – five lens to be exact – attached to it, two bulbs on the sides, and a massive respirator that extends downwards, many gizmos and adjustable cogs are located on his mask. His body is shows signs of accumulated rust and scars and has many wires and circuitry running through his body, he also has many satchel bags and a large backpack with two steam-pumps attached to it. Seth’s right arm is actually a rather large gauntlet permanently grafted onto him that’s called the ‘Armament of Deòrsa’, an ancient and powerful artifact. His other arm has a giant swish army knife-styled wrench set attached to it.
Section II - Attributes:
Physical (tertiary) Strength: 2 Dexterity: 1 Stamina: 3
Social (secondary) Charisma: 3 Manipulation: 3 Appearance: 1
Mental (primary) Perception: 4 [Analytical] Intelligence: 3 Wits: 2
Section III - Abilities
Talents (primary) Awareness: 2 Invention: 3 Logic: 2 Scan: 2 Sense Deception: 2
Skills (secondary) Fast-Draw: 1 Meditation: 3 Research: 3
Knowledges (tertiary) Enigmas: 3 (1+2(4FP)) Psychology: 3
Section IV - Miscellaneous Willpower: 7 (5+2FP) Special Abilities: -Master Engineer: Seth, for all of his life has had an affinity with working with technology of any sort that he could get his hands on and reading countless books to teach himself on how to work with tech around him. Seth has become a powerful master of technology, being able to design anything he can think of or reproduce anything he has been able to thoroughly study in matter of seconds, so long as he has a sufficient amount of what he needs to create it, he can make it. Alternatively, if he lacks the resources, he can use either his own Chaos energy or the energy his gauntlet has accumulated to substitute for it, allowing him to produce what he needs on the fly. However, this can cause his Chaos energy reservoir – his life source – to deplete at a much quicker rate, discouraging him from using this alternative too often.
-Chaos Manipulation: Using the 'Armament of Deòrsa', Seth can manipulate Chaos energy around him – including his own – as either a form of weapon or to defend himself. However, this drains him of his own energy at a greater rate regardless of where he uses the energy from, making this ability more of a last resort than an actual offensive ability.
-Natural Abilities: Having turned himself into a living machine, Seth does not need to perform any essential things such as eating, breathing, or sleeping to survive. He is also immune to any kind of poison or gas because of his status as a machine, and unlike other machines he does not short-circuit when exposed to water. However, Seth can still rust which can dampen his functionality depending on how much rust he accumulates and he is incredibly sensitive to both extremely hot or cold temperatures. Also, being powered by Chaos energy, Seth could be killed by having his energies stripped from him by a sufficiently powerful Chaos energy extractor.
Magick: Chaos: 2 Matter: 3
Traits: Artifact: 5 (1+4FP) Eidolon: 4 (1+3FP) Enchancements: 5
Equipment:
Armament of Deòrsa The Armament of Deòrsa is an ancient gauntlet that Seth found during his human life about five hundred years ago and is now permanently grafted onto his right arm. According to legend, the Armament of Deòrsa was an object that could grant untold power upon the wearer, the legend continues by stating that the Armament was used by enigmatic being simply called the ‘Creator’ to create the world known today as ‘Mobius’ out of the void that exists around it, making the artifact potentially billions of years old. However, Seth tinkered around with the artifact and found out that the Armament isn’t as powerful as it is said in myth, being an an incredible over-exaggeration of its power, however it is by no means worthless, as it is still rather significantly powerful. The Armanent of Deòrsa feeds off of Chaos energy around it to fuel its might when being used, when it has accumulated enough energy, the Armanent can unleash incredible amounts of power that bends reality itself for a moment, at this point, Seth can use the Armament to manipulate the energies around him to attack or defend. However, the full extent of it’s reality-warping capabilities are unknown because Seth doesn’t want to tap it’s absolute potential until he can figure more about how it works, he also is afraid of trying to use it's absolute potential because it would presumably require tremendous amounts of Chaos energy to reach it's maximum capacity, and would even suck out his own energy if he lacks a sufficiently powerful source to fuel it and kill him instantly along with feeding off the energies of others around him and possibly killing them as well, making him rather reluctant to use it even if only feeding it little amounts of energy.
The Engineer’s Mask (Non-Artifact) Seth’s head which he created himself during the last years of his human life before switching over to his golem body, the ‘Engineer’s Mask’ is a highly sophisticated piece of technology that resembles an old gas mask with a set of goggles and a respirator attached to it with many bolts and adjustable cogs on it as well. Seth’s mask is essential for most of his work, having many tools built in to be used at his disposal. Seth’s mask is equipped with the following — several magnifying lens that can zoom up to 50mm/125mm/and 250mm, two built-in lights that are just bright enough for him to see what he’s tinkering with in a dark area, a night-vision mode in case he is traveling outside at night, and infrared sensors to detect temperature changes in machinery to prevent overheating — Besides the large amount of tools he has at his arsenal in his mask, it is mostly useless in combat.
-Switch-Toolset: An entire set of tools attached to his other arm which allows him to tinker with mechanisms and gizmos outside of his den on the fly.
Section V – Finishing Touches
Freebie Points:
Amount Starting Amount: 15 Code of Honour: -1 Jack-of-all-Trades: -5 Huge Size: -4 = -10 Notoriety: +3 Disfigured: +2 Curiosity: +2 Dark Secret: +1 = +8 15 – 10 + 8 = 13 Final Amount: 13 2FP → +2 willpower 3FP → +3 Eidolon 4FP → +2 Ability → Enigmas 4FP → +4 Artifact
Merits:
Code of Honour (+1) Seth, despite wanting to accomplish a dream of knowing how everything works and why they work, he has his own limitations that he has enforced on himself, a code of honour he respects greatly. His code is simple: “#1: Never experiment on the living, willing or unwilling. All life is sacred and worthy of existing. Only experiment on the long deceased. #2: However, even the deceased are not without restrictions, I will not desecrate any sacred land or grave in a graveyard to retrieve a corpse, nor will I disturb those bodies in their final moments are unwilling to be experimented on by request. #3: Never perform on children, ever. No exceptions.”
Jack-of-all-Trades (+5) Seth has mastered most if not all of the arts of engineering over the past five hundred years he’s been alive, from Electromechanical Systems to Construction, there is no form of engineering he does not know and no form of engineering that he is not skilled in.
Huge Size (+4) Seth, both in past human life and his current golem life, has always been a tall and menacing figure to the people around him, which discourages people from attacking him. It also helps him reach areas that others would have a hard time reaching for.
Flaws:
Notoriety (-3) Seth, has become a bit of an infamous individual over the past five centuries because of his appearance and nature to take seemingly worthless junk and corpses of the dead to experiment on. That people believe that he also takes living people and children and have put him in a similar light to that of the boogeyman, despite his constant clarification that he does not take living people or children of any form, he is still depicted as a horrifying monster in fairy tales called the “Chaos Engineer”.
Disfigured (-2) Having turned himself into a living machine with a very disturbing steampunk-gothic appearance about him, he can scare people away with his awkward appearance very easily and unintentionally. This also contributes to his notoriety.
Curiosity (-2) He wants to know how everything works and why everything works, as such, he is prone to being very curious about the world around him, but more specifically, the technology around him. And can get somewhat distracted if an interesting gizmo of some sort is lying around.
Dark Secret (-1) Seth, like any other people, still has some secrets to hide and has one incredibly dark secret that goes back to the last years of the Eurasian Union and led to it's destruction, and also caused something big that if discovered would make everyone's already grim opinions about him far worse.
Background:
"The Life of the Chaos Engineer" by Ian M. Hawkwing The secluded creature of metal worked without an end to his work in it’s dark and eerie den – all alone, metal would creak and steam would shoot out occasional, prompt him to fix it. After that, he’d return to his contraptions and instruments. Which he would work at for minutes, hours, days, weeks, even years before the next disturbance makes itself known to him...
To any ordinary person, this would make him seem like a sinister villain coming up with some plan to take over the world – but that’s hardly the case. Let me tell you the full story of the painfully misunderstood creature known to the world as a ‘boogeyman’ called the ‘Chaos Engineer’.
This is the story of Seth, or rather Sethos Ahuramazda – now called the infamous ‘Chaos Engineer’, he was once an ordinary man turned machine. He was born approximately five hundred years prior as a simple and humble human, not as an Overlander like most people believe. Seth was born and raised in the human city of Station Square, he said that he never really knew his parents, only know that his father was a bureaucrat, so he was under the care of a man whom owned a story that he couldn’t much remember much really but one of the few things that he could remember about him is that he always saw him work with his hands on gizmos, all the time. He quickly began to develop an affinity in machinery as the years went by under the care of this mysterious man – so much in fact that he began his life’s dream, a simple one really – To know how everything works, and why. - is what he said to me, a simple yet pretty lofty one if you ask me, but that’s what made him keep on living.
Anyway — the man whom cared for him and gave him his interest in machinery died just before he came of age, he said that his caretaker was shot about six or seven times by some gang folk whom was look for some quick cash. A few hours after his caretaker died, Seth found a gift in the backroom that he had left him that he intended to give to him on his birthday, Seth then opened the package, and what was inside moved him to joyful tears, it was the first and only time he really cried before in his life. – During my little interview, I asked him what his caretaker had left him, Seth simply pointed to his left arm and said ‘An old toolbox... my first toolbox.’ – Then, as time went by, Seth had began to travel around Station Square collecting gizmos that were lying around or priceless and began to tinker with them, he said that the very first thing he tinkered with was an ‘old wrist-watch’ that he found lying around in an alleyway.
Then one day, he found his prized possession, an old antique gauntlet that happened to be just resting inside a display case, he said that it resonated to him, like it hummed out his name or something as he passed by – when Seth asked what it was, the clerk running the antique store replied that he didn’t know what it was. He then asked how much the item cost to the clerk, the clerk said about one fifty in cash, Seth didn’t have that kind of money so he asked if he could pay for it in bits and pieces, the clerk agreed and let him have the rusty gauntlet, he remarked that it’s the only thing he still hasn’t quite figured out yet after about five hundred years. – I asked if he ever did pay the clerk back in total, Seth said that he gave the full cash and a tip to the clerk before the guy died about twenty years later after he acquired the gauntlet from him – He then managed to leave Station Square the very next day, and went to the surface, because he knew that there was more to see out there than in there.
Over the next forty or something years, he traveled half of Mobius on his own, and managed to find quite a load of ‘loot’ during that time, met many people, and learned many things about the world around him. However, the most painful thing he learned as he traveled the world is ‘mortality’, he had begun to age and became very afraid – he said that ‘he didn’t want to die’, which we all say at least once in our lives – he hadn’t accomplished his dream yet of knowing how everything worked and why, he wasn’t going to let death get in the way of that. So, he then spent the last remaining years of his mortal human life building a new mechanical body for himself that he’d transfer his spirit over to – he said he heard about in a story once. – It took him about seven years, he said. And by that time, Seth was already on his last leg, so he had no time to waste. But he lacked two things still...
A way to transfer his soul over to it, and a way to power it. However, he found a solution to both quickly. I asked him what was his solution, Seth replied back with only two words.
“The gauntlet.”
The gauntlet that Seth had acquired about forty years prior from the antique store was in fact a very powerful artifact, the legendary ‘Armament of Deòrsa’ – supposedly the gauntlet that ‘the Creator’ used to create Mobius itself. But Seth said that the legend is in fact false, but replied that the gauntlet was still significantly powerful regardless of whether the myth was true or not. – Anyway, he said the gauntlet ran on the power of Chaos energy and when fully charged could bend reality itself, Seth then said what he asked himself when he first came up with the idea. “So, what if I during this time frame, could make the artifact bend my soul right out of my old mortal shell and place it in my machine?” It was worth a shot at least. But before that, he had to charge both the gauntlet and his mechanical body up before he could through with it. So, he built a backpack that would act as a massive reservoir that would supply his soon-to-be robotic body with the loads of Chaos energy he discovered over the years, and put whatever was left of the energy into the gauntlet.
Then it was time for the moment of truth, if he would succeed or not.
Seth put on the gauntlet and approached his new body, he placed one of his fingers that was wearing the Armament onto the forehead of his new body and activated the gauntlet. Which he said created a field around both him and his body, he then felt a sharp pain as his soul was ripped out of his own body by himself and thrown into the unfamiliar body of the machine. After the process completed itself and Seth had acquired his new body, his old human shell crumbled to dust for unknown reasons – Seth said this was probably because of the stress of the near unlimited power that the gauntlet gave is too great for a human being. – He succeeded in his endeavor and became an immortal machine with a human soul inside it to accomplish his goal, his new body collapsed against the wall next to him and slid downwards as he felt a sort of numbing feeling in his new head.
As Seth – in his new body– rested against the wall, he thought about things now, he had managed to accomplish a seemingly impossible feat that no one did prior, and now he could truly accomplish his dream. However, he couldn’t help but wonder how did he get there in the first place, why would he have to put himself in a mechanical body and become immortal to accomplish his dream? Seth sad that he wasted too much time exploring the world. It was too much of a distraction from his work. So he came up with a decision to seclude himself and his den completely from the world so he could work in absolute silence, alone and free from any distractions. I asked him if he still thought that himself today, but Seth didn’t reply.
However, about fifty years after he had barricaded himself in the dungeon of his own making, Seth learned that his reservoir was running out of energy at a rapid rate. And since he used up the supply he had building his body and charging his gauntlet, Seth was left with no choice but to leave for the surface to collect some.
Seth personally asked me not to say where the location his den is, because he is not the kind of guy that likes a paparazzi of any sort at all. I, personally, only found his den by total chance.
Anyway – Seth, for the first time in about fifty years, ‘felt’ the breeze hit his ‘skin’ again and began to wander around the world for more Chaos energy, at first he was solely focused on finding more energy, until he realized that with fifty years having passed and the world changing, it also gave him an excuse to look for new things to tinker with. While he continued his search for more Chaos energy, he traveled through a few towns. The first few villages he went through, people gave him rather odd looks and backed away if he began to approach them. He said that even one of the girls screamed as he went by. At that time, he wondered why they were afraid of him, now he realizes why – they were afraid of his appearance. Which I admit, is still a bit unnerving. But despite getting some odd looks as he wandered around the villages, he managed to get enough Chaos energy and some new gizmos to tinker around with. He then returned to seclusion about a week after acquiring what he needed. He knew that the process would repeat itself yet again in another fifty or so years. But in the meantime, he had his work to do – so he returned to his mechanisms and proceeded to work at them for the next fifty years or so.
I grew rather curious and asked him a question, when did the whole boogeyman fairy tales about the ‘Chaos Engineer’ began to occur, since he obviously didn’t take anything living back with him when he returned to his den. He said it was indeed an interesting question. He began to explain – it was about the fifth time he had to leave his den when the stories began to occur, he entered one of the towns to collect more gizmos as he searched for more Chaos energy to sustain himself. He proceeded as usual, with people giving him odd looks as usual. Until he came across something in an alleyway, it was a day-old corpse of a beggar that died from starvation – a horrible way to go he said, indeed – his curiosity got the better of him, since he upheld a moral code of his own that he made – I asked him what his code was, he said listed three things: “Never experiment on the living, willing or unwilling. All life is sacred and worthy of still existing. Only experiment on the deceased. However, even the deceased are not without restrictions, I will not desecrate any sacred land or grave in a graveyard to retrieve a corpse, nor will I disturb those bodies in their final moments are unwilling to be experimented on by request. Finally, never perform on children, ever, living or dead. No exceptions.” I couldn’t help but ask why he wouldn’t experiment on children, he didn’t really reply, Seth just simply said “Reasons.” – Anyway, since he never had the chance to experiment on a living being because of his code, he took the corpse and stuffed it in his large bag. Unfortunately, people were watching him at the time and thought the beggar was still alive and that he kidnapped the beggar to experiment on. And since then, the boogeyman tales about the ‘Chaos Engineer’ have spread all over the world.
Briefly, derailing from the topic of the biography, I had to ask if he ever heard of a man named Kintobor or Robotnik rather, he said he heard about a man about forty something years back that worked with the humans and created some sort of space station, but that’s all he knows about him. He apparently doesn’t know anything about that diabolical Eggman at all.
Anyway, despite the fairy tales about the ‘Chaos Engineer’ and how diabolical he is, it turns out that Seth is totally the opposite of what the stories portray him as, he is a rather nice and humble – if a bit creepy – machine that was once a man who simply strives for a dream like we all do. Finally, before I left his den and returned to the surface world, I asked him one last thing.
“When are you due to return to the surface world, Mr. Ahuramazda?” At that point, he simply turned towards me slowly and replied with just a single word.
“Soon.”
