Jeez, the amount of completely ridiculous and not-thought-out proposals here... That all depends on what you mean by everyone having the same mind. Do you mean everyone is an individual who just happens to think the exact same way, or do you mean everyone shares a single mind, like some sort of collective consciousness? If the latter, we've got a hive mind scenario, in which case we'd be more or less like ants or other such creatures, doing only what is good for the entire 'colony', having no deviation from a strict set of commands and social norms, willing to sacrifice thousands, even millions of colony members in the blink of an eye if it will benefit everyone else. If the former though... That's an interesting one. It's be almost like a world full of clones, except everyone looks different but still thinks the same. It would be eerie, but there would be at least a little bit of deviation here and there... unless everyone decides to 'try something new' at the exact same moment (a highly likely case considering the fact that everyone thinks the same), in which case everyone will be rather disappointed that they weren't as ingenius as they thought. |

Well, that's an interesting idea. I guess it would be kind of like my timeline scenario. It starts by taking a turn for the worst since I don't know anything... It would take effort and work, but I guess that because everyone thought the same, making agree to one thing would be easy. But there one point everyone forgets. After some time, I guess on between a month and 3 years, everyone would be different. They would be me, but with different life experience, knowledge, you get my point. So yeah, it would start bad, get better and then go back to the world we have now. |

I'd hate it if everyone had my mind: it would mean there would be no point in trying to make myself stand out from the rest since they'll quickly catch up with me. Also, as counter-intuitive as it may seem, not a lot gets done if everyone agrees; at least, not a lot of actual progress happens. Disagreement is the foundation upon which all progress has been made, historically. If everyone believed the same things, thought the same things, drew the same conclusions (this does not necessarily mean these things are "right"), there would be no need to disagree and we would all sit around with thumbs up our asses not caring to actually attempt to do anything. What fun is achievement when there are no obstacles to overcome? |
