Essentially, when you're delivering bad news, just say what needs to be said straight up and don't dance around the issue. I used to have this problem myself when delivering bad news or admitting a mistake to my coworkers or boss. But this phrase made me realize I really should just get straight to the point when I must say something that I don't want to say. It's better for everybody involved this way.
