I've tried to play PS2 games on my PS3, but none of them seem to work. Today I found out my PS3 apparently can play PS1 games. I find it weird that it does this(I have a PS3 Slim, just so you know). Is there something I'm suppose to do to play PS2 games on it? |

Nope. PS3 is apparently non-PS2-backwards-compatible. Which is stupid because it's backwards compatible for PS1 games. This is why I refuse to trade my PS2 in for a PS3. It's a capitalist conspiracy to make me spend more money. |

Indeed, its things like this why I'm not a capitalist. That sucks, oh well. I did manage to get my wires connected to play the PS2. The bright side though, I can play PS1 games on my PS3 and it has a PS1 save card installed, so I can play The Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Mega Man Legends 2 on it. |

If you have a PS2 why would you not get a PS3 because it doesn't play PS2 games? The reason it plays PS1 games, though, is because it all emulated. They probably couldn't emulate PS2 games to a high enough percentage. Hence why they started releasing PS2 classics on the PSN that have been reworked. |

Spoiler: It's not that many. Only a few Sony only titles. Apparently a few of the really early models did have backwards compatibility with the PS2, but it was ditched later. Not sure what the deal was with that. |

Certain PS3s are backwards compatible, I have one of the older models that has the emotion engine and all of that good stuff included.. I got it wrapped 50 million times over in ceran from a pawn shop but for $175 at the time when the console was still over $400, that was a steal and it still plays PS2 games, though I have none to speak of. xD |

You are right, it was due to money. Not in that context though. The simple fact is people didn't want a console that was $500/600. Those early PS3s pretty much had a PS2 inside of it and removing that reduced costs enough to take $100 off of the price. You can still find used backwards compatible PS3s but I don't think they are really worth it if you already have a PS2. It's not like they upscale the graphics or anything. As far as the PS2 Classics on PSN. There aren't many but they are reworked to run on the PS3, not a straight port. The only one I have is Twisted Metal Black which I got for free from buying the new Twisted Metal. It runs just like it did on the PS2, not HD. Still a great game though. |

What? I was at my friends house and played the PS2 version of GTA Vice City on his PS3. Everyones logic: PS1 < PS2 < PS3 |

Only the original ones and some 80gig models played PS2 games. Only the ones with 4 usb ports can do that. |

Which is why I refuse to buy Playstation anything. I know it sounds a little sadistic but I never took interest to have any of it, especially because of the prices! The only good things that I SEE from Playstation is Rayman, Metal Gear, and Shadows. |

Wow.... Out of all of the franchises that came from Playstation, those are the only ones you can see? You must hate like most games on all platforms. lol Not to mention Rayman really was never an exclusive franchise to Playstation. It was on Saturn, N64, and Dreamcast as well. |

Well geez sorry that I did not grow up on Playstation, I just don't find it to have a very interesting collection is all. Sorry if I have an opinion, why do you feel the need to one up me then... |
