Hello one and all, I, and a few others, will now be heading the fifth tourney! I'm currently working on the story and sign-up thread. Just to introduce myself, I am L. Cy and P_S will be judges, as well, they'll be approving your bios along with me. If we can get at least two more judges, that would be fantastic. Now, simply asking to be one wont get you the spot. I'll be talking it over with P_S and Cy to see if we approve or not. For people like DF*hint-hint-wink-wink* we don't need to discuss it/vote on it because we know how good he is at rp.  Anyways, ALL OUT OF CHARACTER QUESTIONS AND CHAT GOES HERE. If you have any questions at all, even about the bios, post them here. The sign-up thread is only for you to post your characters bio and be approved. I got two questions: Can we use official characters? And do we have to be characters/FC's from Sonic or any franchise? |

Since Lil seems to be using the rules for previous tournaments then I would say that official characters cannot be used and any fan character from any universe is allowed. |

Official characters are kinda meh. Not really being creative there. But just to make sure, we're allowed to use humans, right? The description for the species made it sound like you're expected to pick a furry so just making sure. |

Questions: Where does telepathy fall? Is the ability to read your opponent's mind and know most or everything they're thinking godmodding or sort of cheat-ish? I mean, with a telepathic character, I'd see one or two jerks going about dodging almost every move and reasoning that "i red ur mind & new ud do dat." So would telepathy be banned or restricted to a certain level? Would I be right to assume that mind control is a big no-no here, or am I allowed to puppeteer my opponent under certain restrictions? Also, would shapeshifting count as a super form? I mean, if my character suddenly shapeshifts into some sort of monstrous creature... Even if the form isn't a special stage of the character's, they'd still be getting a considerable boost there. EDIT: Well, already made a character, but I'll leave this here in case other players have similar doubts. |

Telepathy - Since its basically just receiving information from one person to another, I'd say yeah, thats pretty much cheating. However, if done correctly, it can be allowed. The ONLY way I'd allow telepathy as a power, is if there is a major side effect. I say 'major side effect' because people can simply put 'Gets a bit fuzzy in the head.' As a side effect. A major side effect would be obtaining a massive headache to the point of physical pain, thus, not allowing the person to even think themselves. Now, why would you want a power you can barely use to begin with it. Having said this, if said character had a very low level of telepathy, then I'd be okay with it. For example, said character can only 'read' one thought at a time. Thus, if their foe was going to make a two move attack, the first move would be 'seen' but not the second. As well, said person with this low level telepathy could be come overloaded with information and obtain sever headaches. Example, said foe is basically random as hell and changes his/her fighting style and movements too much, thus said telepathy can't follow and gets burnt out within a matter of seconds. Once again, why have a power that does more harm then good? All in all, I believe we'll just say no to telepathy all together, for the sake of the tournament at least. Having said that, please do not get telepathy confused with telekinesis, which is the ability to move objects with your mind. I would even restrict telekinesis to only non-living object, as well as making the ability short ranged. Meaning said person wouldn't be able to lift a tin can that is more than three feet away from them. Lastly, telekinesis could be used as a means to push or pull, which wouldn't cause for much focus, yet it wouldn't be accurate either. On the other hand, trying to lift an object would cost said person energy and focus, making them vulnerable so long as they are trying to hold/lift said object. Also, the heavier an object, the more focus and energy is needed. Mind control - Mind control is differently a big no-no, thus, it wont even be allowed. Shape Shifting - I think I'll allow shape shifting, with restrictions of course. I believe there are different versions of shape shifting. Some only change the shape of their hands/limbs, other change their actually bodies into animal like beings, and others only change their size/appearance. Of course, I will not allow anyone to turn into a giant, thirty foot tall, beast with jaws of steel. Not happening. Also, whenever you are shape shifting, you are only doing that, changing your shape. You are not changing your powers, or making yourself super fast or almighty strong. Now, depending on what you turn into will determine your strength of course, but you'll be slower. In short, be realistic with whatever you change into. Of course, the bigger the shape, the harder it is to maintain that shape. Shape shifting consumes energy, more than people would think. It takes a lot not only shift into a certain shape, but also to maintain that shape. Receiving damage WILL cause you to revert back to your normal self, as pain also makes you lose focus, and focus is also needed to hold a shape when shape shifting. Now, we all know, if you get hurt in any shape, that same damage will be present whenever you change back, it doesn't just go away. Shifting in and out of a shape also consumes energy and will weaken your body, for those that think they can just shift out of a shape in order to dodge repeatedly. You can have additional powers along with your shape shifting one(the most, one). As stated before, when shape shifting you are only changing your shape, not your powers. Lastly, keep in mind, the larger you are, the bigger target you are to your foe. Going against someone with a long distance weapon would not be good, they'd hit your larger body(or at least should) a majority of a time. I hope I answered this questions for you. If any of the other judges want to comment on any of these, please feel free to do so. Its really late right now, and I should be sleeping so sorry if some of this didn't make sense. |D |

First an foremost, thank you for taking time out to answer my questions~Au contraire, mon ami. Telepathy can be logically used as a potentially and deliciously deadly power, thus why I asked if it was banned or had restrictions. In the latter case, I wanted to know if it had all those restrictions that made it positively flimsy and near useless, like in the Pokemon anime, or if it had more of the solid uses you can see in several parts of the DCAU. But seeing as my question has been answered, I already submitted my character and you have decided to ban the power, I have no more arguing to do on that matter. And yes, I knew for certain mind control would be a no-no but I kept being hopeful there would be an exception. Guess not, but it's all right. It's perfectly understandable. *nod nod* Now just out of curiosity, what if the character's shapeshifting occurs at a cellular level, effectively transforming them from the inside out into what they choose? You know, like completely rearranging their DNA and molecular structure so they don't just have the appearance but the actual make of what or who they're turning into? |
