You are making your own game. What aspects of gaming would you focus on the most? INB4 gameplay. Note this only applies to campaign mode of your game. |

But that's what I WOULD focus on the most. Because even if a game has a fantastic storyline, well-orchestrated music, clever level design, well-done graphics and art style, if the gameplay sucks than the game will be an utter waste of time and money. |

Assuming the gameplay is great, then certainly story is the next most important part. I'dbe tempted to do something like Bastion though; having a narrator with the smoothest voice on the planet weaving the tale as you play. Awwww man, Rucks, your voice was the best. <3 |

Level design's pretty important, since it's where you're going to be playing at anyways, in a sense it's an accomplice to Gameplay. Let's not forget what Yahtzee sang of Deus Ex: "It's a shooter, and a role-playing game. The levels are ugly, and e'eryone looks the same," |

How am I supposed to choose when all categories have some sort of valid use. There are various aspects of a game I'd probably would've chosen depending on it's genre. For instance, a platformer would've had level design as my utmost crucial part, such as create an easy enough flow partaking in running through obstacles. Sure that's relevant a Sonic title I'm picking on, but most of the time, I'd say level design. However when it comes to RP's. I'd definitive say Story, then Characters and last but not least length of game. Because you wouldn't be able to thrive getting to know the crowd, before the story finishes. So in all honesty, I'd say most of them are important, so picking one out of them all, is rather a jiffy when I don't know what game I'm making, but let's say it is an RP. Then I have to say Story. |

Wow no vote for gameplay. Sod game length, graphics, HUD and anything else - gameplay is the most single important element of any game. I won't play a game if it looks incredibly pretty but plays like shit. |

This thread is for what's the next most important aspect of gaming. Besides Gameplay for the sake of this case is already covered when you're making a game. I excluded gameplay because I knew everyone would vote for that because it's a fact that gameplay's the most important. |
