Lately I picked up Sonic the Hedgehog on 360, or Sonic Next Gen for short, or Sonic 06 for shorter. And I read some of the topic and posts that you guys made in terms of it being the "worst Sonic game ever". However, I wish to discuss some terms on my ordeals. You can say it is a review, but to me it is like an opinion and discussion page about the game. I would love to hear back some knowledgeable and respectful opinions and answers from you guys. Ok, I have played worse Sonic games before, but I understand why it is right up there. It feels like it has not been finished and is in sort of a alpha or beta version of the game. Everything is wrong: controls, story, gameplay, and more. So let's start with the controls. Half of the reason that you will die is due to them. First off, way too slippery; you have to very lighty tilt the control stick in order to accurately move where you want. This presents a problem in Sonic and Shadow gameplay due to their speed. Since Silver is slower than a turtle, so the movement is alright there. With the other two, it feels like you are on ice, it is very bad. Not to mention that during Sonic's mach speed stages, you have more control, but it still feels like he is too much to handle. I know Sonic is suppose to turn on a dime, but come on. Jumping works about three-fourths of the time, I have time where I try to jump but it does not register in. It is often enough to say something about it, but it happens on small occasions. And no, my controller(s) worked perfectly. Ok, story time! My dear hedgehog...let me sum it up for you. I feels like a bad fan fiction was thrown on Sega's desk and was used to make it. Seriously, I want to see how a hedgehog-on-human romance was a good idea. You all heard the jokes about bestiality and necrophilia if you seen the ending, so I will make this brief. It is one of the worst story I have ever seen and heard. Makes me want to vomit it is so bad. I know Sonic has been not one to have a storyline, but come on, they weren't even trying. Sega has always been number one with two things: graphics and music/sound. The game looks good in the opening cutscene; they put a lot of effort into it. However, in the later one, even the CG ones, it starts to look very lazy. And the stages were hit and miss with this. Granted, some places looked good, like Flame Core and Kingdom Valley, but others were very unappealing and sometimes ugly, hence Dusty Desert and Aquatic Base. It felt like those that lacked, looked similar throughout the whole stage. Well, in the end, I do like it and it is a strong point of the game at the end of the day. The music was awesome, as it can be it's strongest point. I understand the His World is played a lot in the game and can see how much people can get annoyed by it, but at least they make different renditions of it for variety. Main point, music and sound is the best. Now, the gameplay is what ever one wants to hear. It is horrible due to not only the controls, but glitches as well. Holy hedgehog, there is a ton of them as well. Remember how I said controls are half of what makes you die, glitches is the other half. I have been through many parts of the game where I died due to them. It is that bad. You fall through, walls and floor; you get flung out of bounds; enemies spawn out of nowhere to kill you. Not to mention, when you play as Rouge or Knuckles, you can get stuck on the walls, depending on how long is random spots on the wall. I have been stuck for five minutes before. Anyways, besides glitches, the gameplay is bad, mainly due to the controls as I stated earlier. But I do not feel the sense of speed in this game, like I do in the past one, even Shadow the Hedgehog. And they try to make it up with mach speed stages, which feel forced and few and far between as well. The only characters I get some enjoyment out of is Sonic and Blaze, because they are the fastest and strongest ones in the game. Silver and Amy being the least due to horrible platforming puzzles and very slow movement. Really, it is just bad. And Shadow is ok, just a slightly slower Sonic clone with Chaos Spear instead of a bounce attack. So, discussion time. While I do get some enjoyment out of it, it is still a horrible game. Is it the worst out of them all? No, not at all. I find actually Sonic Spinball on the Game Gear to be the worst and it ruined the original one the Genesis for me. There are some others that I find worse than 06, like Sonic 3D Blast, Tails Adventure, and Sonic Blast. I also found Sonic Labyrinth to tie with 06 as it has the same charm: "it is so bad, it is good". Of course I am missing a few key points and examples in this, but I mainly wanted you guys to get the main points of this. So tell me, what do you guys about Sonic 06? |

Sonic Labrynth is OBVIOUSLY the worst sonic game ever... I don't know about ya'll, but Sonic 06's movement for Sonic and Shadow was too slow for me.. If theres a game like this again, they should make the movement like the Sonic Adventure series. Fast but not slippery. And.. there are WAAAYYY too many glitches in this game, that are shown in this video. |

I agree with the OP while Sonic 06 was flawed in many ways it was by no means the worst game ever. I still can get a kick out it when I'm really bored. |

Well I enjoyed everyone's opinions. I actually did not think I would get as many comments as I did. I am considering doing another one of these on the next to famous game: Sonic Unleashed since I had some feedback from this. Besides I have nothing better to do anyways. |

if you ask me, im actually re playing my Sonic 06 because ive gotten bored with the sonic games i have recently gotten. Sonic colors and Sonic Unleashed. But sonic 06 does bring back good memories of SADX and SA2. With the whole, sonic and shadow and a new hedgehog character, Silver. The game also brings back upgrades to our characters. All this stuff gives me joy of the game. Although that video just gave me the best laughs, i only rly hate 2 things about the game. The slipperyness of sonic, and the mach speed/princess stages. Those extras are complete poop in my mind. In my opinion of power and enemy controll and kill, shadow has the best due to his chaos powers. When you go chaos shadow its awesome, but of course theres a downside to that......chaos blast. the worst attempt to blow something up i have ever seen. "holy hedgehog" but the chaos lance and chaos snap was good. His and Sonics homing attack both suck so its good. Silvers is pretty cool tho since yo can jst whip rockets back at the robots. Shadows Story was actually good i think too. Sonics was just , dumb. Silvers gameplay and story was all good. Except, where does he meet blaze? howd she get in sonics universe? And Hes just another early Knuckles in the whole game except the end. All in all, in my opinion, Sonic 06 is a good game that just has flaws. |

Not completely. I mean, sure, it definitely isn't the best, but, for any of you who think Sonic Labyrinth is the "WRST SAWNEEC GAM OF AL TIMED", Watch this video all the way through, he brings up some pretty good points, and a bit of humor along the way. I think that this is definitally one of the worst Sonic games. I still liked playing it though, and that shows how good all of the other games are. Silver's too slow. |
