Year of the Great Bankai; me and Akashi

Chaos Emerald Posts: 691 Group: S Rank Knight Member #746 Joined: March 19, 2007	Ever so many years, something happens that most of the captains know about. Its called the Year of the Great Bankai. A long time ago, the Year of the Great Bankai was upon them. They witnessed a horrid and terrifying event as one of the captains held within him the Great Bankai. They managed to stop this person, nearly half of the captains died in doing so. Apparently they were lucky. When this event rose again, several hundred years later, they were a bit more prepared. However, the Great Bankai seemed to grow stronger. Once again they nearly survived, yet this time around they decided to capture the person instead. They figured that next time around, they'd be able to control this person and use them to defeat the new one whenever the new one surfaces. They wrong, however. Later on when the new Great Bankai made is appearance, the woman that they captured no longer had her Great Bankai. It was then that they discovered that the Great Bankai moves from vessel to vessel somehow, from person to person without them being tied to each other. Of course, they nearly survived once more, and knew that next time this Great Bankai would surface, they might not survive again. So, the scientists worked hard on figuring out a way to stop the Great Bankai from resurfacing, or somehow control it or extract it. The only thing they were able to do, was create a device that would detect who the next Great Bankai would choose. Of course, the captains managed to keep this between themselves. The last Great Bankai to show up was even stronger than last time. They tried to teach and raise the person from the start to be good and use his powers for good and never evil. They told him what type of power he had, hoping honesty would be better than lying. Of course, this only encouraged him to become the strongest and best, and somehow unlock this 'hidden' power. Eventually he did, to which they nearly survived once again. However, they got lucky. One of the captains knew that a shinigami under him had the ability to enter a person's body and assume control over them for a short period of time. So, they set up and plan and tricked the Great Bankai user, only something odd happened. Instead of the shinigami returning back into his own body, he switched bodies entirely. The Great Bankai power quickly shut down, since the shinigami didn't know how to properly activate it or use it. They bind him and captured him, locking him away to ensure that he'd never figure out how to use this horrid power. As for the Great Bankai user, who was now in this low ranking shinigami's body, they banished him into the world of the living, and told him to never return. They did this because it was supposed proven that the Great Bankai was a entity of its own, and controlled the shinigami's actions and motives. However, that was never the case. So this person left, and planned his plot to get back his power and body, and destroy those who cast him out. However, a new Great Bankai was detected. But this time around, they deiced to not tell the guy of his powers, and keep him in check 24/7. They weren't sure how long this would last, but they could only hope it would never surface. ===================== Kane had been summoned by his captain, who was currently Hensa. However, Kane didn't know that Hensa also called Akiro. Once Kane arrived, he entered into the office and smirked as he saw Ein with his arms crossed, leaning against the wall with his eyes closed. "Heh, I guess we got another run to do." "Sounds like it." Ein states, sighing as if bored out of his mind. "Not exactly." Hensa cut in, to which Kane just shifted his eyes to his captain and listened. "My sisters seemed to have found something. However, they have reported that they sense a strong spirit energy near this item in question. As well, there are multiple hollows that seem to show up at random, almost as if drawn to this item. I'm sending you three to assist-" "Three?... Normally its the three of US, but seeing as you didn't say we, I'm guessing you mean you want me to baby sit some rookie." "His name is Akiro, you've fought with him a few times. You even fought a guy for trying to fight with Akiro, saying that he cheated in somehow." "Oh, him... I didn't fight the guy because of Akiro, I fought him because he was looking for a fight, simple." "As Ein informed you, Akiro will be joining you. Only for this run however. I have another on for you and Ein once you get back." Hensa informed them, leaning against the window as well looking at the window the whole time. "Great, I'll go on ahead and meet up with him there." Kane states, to which Ein and Hensa didn't say anything. "Do not move forward until Ein and Akiro meet you there." Hensa finally ordered, to which Kane simply grinned a evil grin as he started to leave. "Yeah sure." He states, and soon heads on out. "Normally I wouldn't care about you not coming with us. But the fact that you're sending Akiro with us kinda bothers me. I have nothing against the guy, but I have a feeling that this is beyond 'team work.' I know you wont tell me, and don't confuse this, because I really don't care. What I do care about, is you taking me for some fool. I wasn't born-" "You talk too much when you actually care about something." Hensa cut him off, to which Ein sighs with a smirk. "Its nothing to worry about. Everything is fine." "You may be able to lie to everyone else, but you can never lie to me... Spill it..." There was a bit of silence before Hensa spoke. "Year of the Great Bankai... Look it up if you really want to know." "Geez... You know I'm too lazy for that..." Ein comments, to which Hensa lightly smirked as he continued to look out the window, waiting for Akiro to show up.

"'Scuse the interruption." he said, a bit more out of obligation than meaning. You wanted to see me, Cap?" he asked ,crossing his arms, while one hand held a pair of dice he was twirling around in his palm, a habit he had developed, just for when waiting. His sword was on his left hip, but tied on to where there was some slack. he claimed it was for more maneuverability, but some thought it was just him being lazy.

Ein wasn't known for talking much, as for Hensa, Hensa was just that type of guy. Start to business, always serious. "I'm sending you on a mission with Kane and Ein. Normally I'd attend to this myself, but something has come up. Kane already went ahead, so you'll meet him there." After a short moment, Hensa continued as his focus remained out the window. "You'll be meeting with my two sisters, Soly and Tiya. They'll fill you in on the rest of details." Hensa informed them, and wanting to get them out rather quickly for some reason. "Knock knock, Hensa." A female's voice came from the door as the captain of squad 10 entered.(don't have a picture of her yet) She didn't know there would be people here, to which she paused for a moment. "Its fine, they were just leaving." As Hensa was speaking Ein had already walked towards the door and soon headed outside to wait for Akiro. "So, any updates?" Lial, the captain of squad 10, spoke as she walked towards Hensa to join him, as well as make their conversation a bit more quite. She figured Akrio would have left by now so she continued. "I still think its dangerous not telling Kane the truth." "Last time they told the person, things got worse." Hensa quickly cut in, to which Lial simply sighs as she leaned against the window next to Hensa.

He figured what they had been talking about, seeing how he had won most of the details about what was going on, from a bet with Hensa. He thought back to that finishing double or nothing hand that he had used, and how astonished they had both been, that he had won. 'Man, still cant believe that. How awesome is it, that I got the best possible hand in that game, when he had the second best hand?' He thought to himself, as he walked outside to meet with Ein. "So, Ein, any idea on where we're going? like to the World of the living, or what?" Akiro asked, as he followed behind Ein, left hand resting on the top of his handle, the other in a pocket in his Shihakusho. Always being a gambler, his mind instantly thought of all the possible locations they could go, but then narrowed it down to those that were most likely, and then calculated the probobility of each of those places, into a percentage, making them all even, as though each one had an equal probability, like a Die roll.

There was more to this than just going to a subway station. It was said to be haunted, according to those that live in the world of the living. Once they arrived, the three of them were already there, Kane sitting on a trash can with Soly on his lap, giggling a bit as the three of them talked. Tiya was standing in front of the two them, apperently not minding that Kane and Soly were displaying this slight affection towards each other, or rather, Soly was the one motioning this since she was sitting on Kane's lap. Tiya still doesn't know if Kane actually like her in return, or simply just enjoys the feeling of a lady on his lap. "Get a room." Ein's voice drew the attention of all three them, nearly scaring Soly right out of her uniform. Normally Hensa would be with Ein, which is why she quickly leaped off of Kane's lap. Once she saw Akiro instead, she lightly giggled to herself. "Since Ein wont bother to introduce you, let me be the first to greet you. I am Tiya, 4th seat in squad 10. And this is my little sister, Soly, 9th seat of squad 10." Tiya informs, waving her hand hi as Soly shyly waves as well, saying close to Kane as if she wanted to leap back onto his lap again.

"Name's Akiro, 8th seat of Squad 11, also known as 'The luckiest Spinner'." he said, as he looked at where they were at. "So, this guys mouth is either voluntarily sewn shut, or just refused to talk the whole way here, so Could I get an explanation as to whats going on? Told details would be from you two."

Tiya tells him as she smiles sweetly and almost apologetic towards him. "There is someone in this station, most likely using the hollows appearing to hide themselves. Either way, this person is either guarding the coin, or has it and can't leave since Tiya and Soly blocked off their only escape route. This subway station was put out of commission for a long time now, most of the tunnels caved in or were blocked off... Closing off the entire station wasn't my intentions, bu then again, at that point I wasn't worried about the people here or this damn place." As Kane spoke his last few words, Ein's eyes shifted toward him for a moment, as if he didn't know Kane was here before. Apparently it was a shock to everyone else as Tiya and Soly looked at Kane for a moment as well. "Oh! right, the coin. Guess you two weren't informed about it." Tiya soon speaks up as Ein now fixed his attention on her. "This coin is something Hensa has been looking for. We manage to trace it's spirit energy here, but with all the hollows around we didn't want to risk going in by ourselves, only to lose the very thing we came for. The coin holds an ancient power within it. Several years ago it was lost by one of the nobles. Somehow it ended up in this station. My brother wasn't exactly keen on telling us what this coin does, all he told us was that is was very dangerous, and needed to be returned as quickly as possible." Tiya informed them, to which Kane just looked down the stairs to enter the subway station as Ein just looked at the ground. His biggest question was, why didn't Hensa come for this himself if it seemed that important? "So, we done talking, or do we need to keep our mystery guest waiting?" Kane asked, his eyes lightly glowing a gold color as he spoke. Kane's eyes were known to do this, which normally symbolized that he was ready to fight. Ein's silence confirmed that he didn't need to know anything else. they were waiting on Akiro now to see if he had any questions.

And for some reason, this person is able to kill hollows, as their numbers seem to decrease the more we stand here." Ein spoke up, his eyes focus and determined. Everyone knew that Ein didn't like surprises, and this mystery person waiting for them inside could be anyone. "So lets stop standing around then." Kane states, grabbing Soly by the waste as he lead her down the stairs. Tiya just smirked as she followed, however, Ein remained where he was. "Before we go in there, I need to know something... Do you know anything about Kane?" Ein asked Akiro, speaking about this now that the two of them were alone. Ein only knew very little, but he wanted to know more. Kane was one of his best friends, so if something was wrong with him he'd want to know.

I've only got the background, and the basic gist, but apparently, Kane's the one for the next Great Bankai." Akiro said, making sure to keep his voice down. "I won that info from the cap, in a Gamble when we both got a little too drunk, and then in the morning, he assigned me to help watch over him. You should probly know the rest from there. Other than that, My guess is as good as any kids." he said, following the others. "Now that I answered your question, Mind Answering one of Mine? Whats the deal with Kane and Soly? Looks like a couple too me at first glance, and she's obviously fallen for him, but what about him? He feel the same?" Akiro asked, now not so serious a face, more just curious now.

Hensa was protecting Kane by NOT telling Ein. To which, Ein would have to struggle to act the same. Ein only has 'hushed' stories of the Great Bankai, as no one really talks about it at all. "Its worse than I thought..." Ein spoke softly, making sure his voice was low as well. He made sure he was a good distance from the other three as they continued down the stairs and into the lobby area, which was pretty big for a subway station. "You see that pendant on Soly's headband?... Thats the symbol of the Great Bankai. Each time the person carrying the Great Bankai unleashed it, something or someone caused the reaction that triggered it to awaken. The last person to carry the Great Bankai had an item that bared the same symbol. Something happened to that item, which caused the person to unleash the great bankai. I was told that it was shattered... So, to answer your question, Kane himself doesn't like, but the Great Bankai within him is drawing him to her." Ein states, realizing another reason why Hensa didn't mention this to him. Soly was Hensa's sister, so he'd want to protect her at all cost. "Hey! Hurry the hell up back-Gaaaah!" Suddenly Kane was hit with a golden sphere that launched him back into the wall, cracking it as he dropped to his feet and grunted a bit. Yet, Kane's grin slowly formed as he stood up and looked around. It was pretty dark, with little to no lighting. Soly and Tiya got into their fighting stance as they looked around for the attacker. "Hide and seek isn't my game..." Kane spoke out loud, yet received no reply. Ein was also ready to fight as he too looked around, yet the attacker couldn't be seen. "Several hollows are approaching from the tunnels." Ein warned. Sure enough, he was right. A good handful of hollows flooded into the lobby and started their assault.

Posts: 1,297 Group: A Rank Hero Member #12,031 Joined: April 25, 2011	As Kan was hit by the sphere, Akiro instantly drew his blade, and then pointed his index finger and middle finger from where the Sphere came from, and Called "Byakurai!" launching the blast of lightning toward where he hoped the one who launched the sphere would be, and then sensed the Hollows, just before Ein spoke up about them. Having sensed them, he could tell where they were coming from, and facing where the first one was gonna pop out from, began chanting under his breath "Oh ruler, mask of flesh and blood, all creations of the universe, fluttering of the wings, ye who bears the name of man! Truth and temperance, strike but slightly your claw upon this wall which feigns ignorance of sin!" and then, just as it appeared, and lunged at him, he yelled "Sokatsui!" right into its face, with his open hand, before slashing it across the face with his Zanpakutou through the explosions cloud, before backing up away from it, in case something had gone wrong.

It would take only a few moments to decrease the hollow numbers, and soon there were none. "What the hell..." Kane spoke, sheathing his zanpakuto as Ein did the same. The sisters didn't however, as they still felt a threat present. "They weren't attacking us on command. Their attacking formation was random." Ein informs the group, looking around to see if the person that attacked Kane was still present. "EEEEY!" Soly yelped as a rat decided to run around her in a panic, trying to flee but couldn't because Soly was trying to not step on it by stepping on it, which didn't make sense. She carried on like a little five year old for a few moments before the rat finally got away and disappeared into the darkness. "Ewww..." She comments, closing her eyes in disgust. Tiya just smiled at her little sister, as did Kane. "Very kind of you to help me in my situation..." A voice came from one of the tunnels as light footsteps could be heard. Two spheres were glowing in the dark, moving towards them as the footsteps got closer. Kane gripped the hilt of his katana as he grinned with excitement. "I'm not sure I would have hold them off for so long..." The person adds, revealing himself as he stepped into the light. "My name is Sydin, bounty hunter and ex-tomb raider..." He tells them, closing his hands which caused the spheres to vanish into dark gold dust. "Sorry for the trouble. I only hit you so the attention could be drawn off of me and onto you... Hope you don't mind." "Not at all, because you're going to pay for it right now-" "You found it, didn't you..." Tiya cut Kane off, displaying a serious expression as she waited for a reply. However, Sydin just stared. That was until he placed one of his hands into his pocket and spoke. "What an old question, seeing as you already have it in your position." Sydin tells them, yet his focus was only on Soly as he spoke, indicating that Soly had what they were looking for. This made Soly feel a bit nervous as he looked upon her, causing her to step back a bit in confusion.

Rather, when Tiya and him began their trade-off, and Soly's reaction, Akiro spoke then. "Stop speaking in damn riddles, Mother-F***er. You used us as a distraction, you owe us to at least speak in a straight line." Akiro said, none to nicely.

"Several years ago, there was a tragic accident in this station. An old man and a young fellow use to meet once a month here. They'd sit and talk for hours, then leave the same way they came. The old and noble looking man would get on the train and depart, while the young and ragged man use to walk on home. As time went on, the young lad started to grow a young man. However, he died... The old man would come here, expecting to see this young man, but he never did. A few months passed, and the old man mistook someone for the guy he use to come visit. This person was the young man's step brother. He informed the old man that the person he use to visit died. The man had been waiting to meet the old man, knowing that he was indeed his step father, which mans that the old man and the young boy were father and son. However, his wife wouldn't allow the young boy to see his father, so they met on their own terms. The old man asked if the young boy was carrying a coin, to which the step son said no." "What the hell does that have to-" "Several years later, the old man started talking to himself. Yet some believed he was talking to the ghost of his dead son." Sydin cut off Kane's interjection. "The old man started to come around the same time again and again, talking to this ghost as he use to. Until one day, the old man never showed up. Three weeks later they found what was left of the old man's body further down the train tracks, which was just blood, his cloths, and a coin. The police tried to take the coin back to the police station, but anyone who picked it up died within an hour, and the coin returned back to the station. Every train that use to pass over that spot would see something strange. That was until the train station came crumbling down due to a local gang bombing." "Wasn't a local gang that tore this place part. You'd want to trust me on that one." Kane spoke, as if proud that he basically brought half of this place down. Sydin narrowed his eyes a bit as Kane spoke those words, only to shift them back on Soly while pointing his finger at the pendant on her headband. "That gold item attached to your headband, that is the exact same coin that has haunted this station for years... And in your own words, you'd want to trust me on that one." Sydin tells them as he put his hand down, then shifted his eyes over to Akiro. "But I have a feeling you already knew that..." He states, to which he stopped speaking and looked at all of them. Soly was in pure shock and confused. She couldn't understand what was going. "Akiro... This guy isn't normal... We need to change the topic. If Kane finds about about himself... You understand where this will use." Ein softly spoke to Akiro, seeing as he was closer to Akiro. Hopefully he had a plan to conceal this whole thing, because even though this Sydin guy was talking about the myths the world of the living made up, he still knew too much.
