Hey all, I just got the 3DS port for Tales of the Abyss yesterday! It's so awesome, I love it!

Admittedly, this is my first time playing a game in the tales series, but I think it's amazing!

Has anyone else here played any of the games in the Tales series (Kind of a stupid question XD)? What game in the series do you think is the best?

I love the Tales series, it's a shame how underrated the series is compared to other famous ones. Abyss and Symphonia are among my favorite RPGs ever, and I recommend to anyone. I haven't played many others though, but I really would like to play Vesperia one day, but am kinda against getting a 360 just for it(If only the PS3 port can come stateside). It saddens me how the series is currently struggling sales-wise, as they might just stop porting over Tales game and stick to Japan(Where it's very successful).

Graces f is soon coming though, I recommend people getting that. And the 3DS port of Abyss is available now as well, so go get them people!

Dawn of the New World.

*eherm* Rage-baiting aside, I've never actually played the Tales series myself. When it comes to JRPGs, I'm more of a Nippon Ichi Software kinda guy. Although I do have a few friends who love the series.

It's also kinda bad that the only game I've seen extended gameplay of was the aforementioned Dawn of the New world, which my friend was playing in a stream.

Haven't really played it myself. Wanted to on a few occasions but never got the chance. Was considering buying the 3DS remake of Abyss a little while back but it's been overlooked for other titles. :I

I'll let you know if I get it though.

Tales of Vesparia on the 360 I have, other then that, no, but wouldn't mind picking up another one.
As it's a bloody fine game that is. Shame I never get around to it to the extent of completing it. Though the complexity of immerse character development to some degree and rather intriguing fast-phased battles what more do you ask for.

Insane level caps.

One hundred trillion damage.

Mountains of delicious ham in every character's lines.

That's what more I ask for.

Nah but for real, I wouldn't mind picking up a Tales game myself, so long as it's not that godawful Wii game I brought up earlier.

I heard Vesperia may come state side but I think the Japanese version has English so you can import it. If I were you I'd look into that.

I don't care about Graces F, if Xillia comes out I'll give it a try.

Dawn of the New World.

Its the only I play so far and I really liked it. Most people don't seem to like it and I don't know why. Maybe I would find out if I had a chance to play the original.

Still I really like the fighting system and the monster capture idea.

Well, like I said, I didn't play it myself, but from what I've seen I'm not gonna go anywhere near it.

But I'm just going to say this: If I had a dollar for every time I heard "Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality" I'd be living in a mansion with every NIS game there is lined up on a diamond shelf.

I loved Tales of Symphonia, it was (And still is since I can't get Abyss/Dawn of a new world nor do I have the systems to play the others) first real RPG I got my fingers on. I truly enjoyed the game and still do. Trying to go back through and see every slip of dialogue or different quests I missed is still very very fun. The only thing I don't enjoy is the friggin Mini Shadows things that follow you around in one of the dungeons seriously! Shoot me for saying they are not glitchy! *SHOT* Dear goodness I hope if they ever port the game that they fix those little B words. Also how many Gamecube games got two discs to play through the whole story game? Lastly the artwork cutscenes in the very beginning, before pushing any buttons, kinda the middle, and end are just beautiful!

Tales of series! Oh geez, good series but so very underrated. I've only played Tales of Destiny, Tales of Destiny 2, Tales of Abyss and Tales of Symphonia. I haven't completed any of them but the most one i've gotten to completing was Tales of Symphonia.

My favorite one is TOS (Tales of Symphonia), it had an amazing storyline and gameplay and very good characters. My favorite was Colette. I had a hard time getting past
Spoiler: click to toggle

I played Tales of Destiny 1 and 2, I never got very far in them though. They were still good games nonetheless, and I'd die to play them again, I don't have the systems for them hooked up though.

But yeah. Tales Of is a very good series and sadly underrated. I wish it was more seen and loved and all that, but I'm fine with it. I love the series and it's a good series nonetheless. I'd suggest playing TOS, and TOD 1 and 2 for sure.
