You only get one chance to live. Most people live those lives without ever realizing it.
|
1903, Corpus Christi, Texas. A young boy, 16 years of age, Native American decent, named Agido Kwandaioha, has been working on a farm for the rich family that hired him. Everyone knew back in these days, Native Americans weren't exactly the most respected men of their kind. They had names such as beasts, fools, and savages. Anyone who knew Agido never treated him with the respect he deserved. But living with it, he came to expect disrespect. So it was any natural day when he was passing on the dirt filled roads of the wild west that someone called him one of the foul names he had. It had just turned dusk, which meant Agido had a long day ahead of him. First he had to round up the horses, then rope in the cattle. After that, he had to go out into the wilderness and find a few more horses for the land owners to sell. Of course, Agido had no problem with this. Not only was he more than used to manual labor, he loved it. He loved the strain it brought to his body, he loved the sweat it brought on. Every part of it made his day. |

Robstown, Texas, 1903. As a woman, Aevelon was supposed to wear dresses, be polite and avoid the bar at all costs, But as a dignified outlaw, she had every right to go into the saloon a get a shot of whiskey. She hadn't always been this way, She was once part of a rich and prosperous family, but that life was not suited to her liking, she needed adventure. And guns. Lots and lots of guns. After her sixth shot of booze she left the saloon and began heading home. It had been a while since she had been to that place, but she had received message that her mother had fallen ill, and despite how busy she was, Aevelon had dropped everything to go home to visit her sick mother, everything except her revolver that is, She never left home without it. |

Agido had already round up the last of the horses into their stables, then examined where all the cattle where. Spread out among the plane, lovely. He may have been one who loved manual labor, but pointless labor? No. But he had to do it. So as he prepared the horse to round up the cattle, the rich family's oldest son walked out to Agido. 17 years of age and as spoiled as one could get. He thought that not only was Agido his slave, that Agido had no soul. Before Agido could jump on his horse to get the cattle, the boy walked over and pushed him away. "No, you stupid savage. This horse is too majestic for your filthy hide. Take the horse we keep by the barn." The boy spoke, his snottiness was easy to make out just by his tone of voice. "But young master, you realize that horse is ill, do you not?" Despite the boy's attitude, Agido spoke in his calm and soothing voice. But the boy would not hear it. He cared not that the horse had caught a mere illness. Only an ill horse would suit Agido. "I'm afraid I don't care. That horse is the one you will ride." The boy spoke, moving to push Agido again. But this time, Agido sprung into action. As the boy's hands were about to make contact with Agido, he grabbed the left one and moved it into the right one, making the boy spin around and land on his backside. Agido drew his knife and put it the young boy's throat. "You've made plenty of contact with me, young master. I must ask you to go back inside before one of us gets hurt." Of course, by someone, Agido meant the boy. |

It was only a few hours to Corpus Christi, where her family lived, which was much more than the time it took her to get there by horse. Once she got to their not-so-humble home, she saw her older brother being pinned down with a knife at his throat. She never liked her brother, but he didn't deserve to die. She reached the fight quickly, hopped off her horse, pulled out her 29.44 Magnum Revolver and aimed. "Drop it." She said with serious authority. She examined the boy, He looked like he could take down her brother in less than a second, But he couldn't hurt her as easily. "Get off of him and lower the knife, he isn't worth ruining your knife." Aevelon said to the boy, ignoring the fact her brother was right there, why would she care? She was telling the truth, her brother was scum and the boy's knife seemed to be a quality product. |

"..." Agido knew it was self-defense, but at this point, he wasn't planning on getting shot at, whether he was hit or not. "Yes, madam." With that, he dropped the knife and let go of the young man. But the young man wasn't done yet. He stood up and swung his fist into Agido's face. Agido could have easily blocked it, and he knew it. But where would that get him? He was sure he was already in deep trouble with the family. No need to make the pile worse. So he took the punch, and fell to the ground. "Filthy pig." The boy said as he spat at Agido. |

She turned her gun to her brother and screamed, "You idiot! You could have hurt him! Then what would you have done? You can't just treat everyone around you like that! I can't believe it, I've been away three years and you've already become even more spoiled! You are so annoying!" Not lowering the barrel, she walked over to the boy who fell to the ground and asked, "Are you alright? I sincerely apologize for my brother's behavior, it won't happen again." She slowly let one hand slip off the gun to offer the boy help to get up and to shake his hand. "My name is Aevelon Khamelot, pleased to make your acquaintance sir. " |

The young boy said nothing after that. All he did was slip away back into the house. That wasn't to his liking, not at all. But Agido appreciated the help he had received. He reached up and took Aevelon's hand. "It's nice to meet you too, Ms. Khamelot." Agido responded, "Thanks for the help. I owe you, ma'am." Agido had no idea whether or not he was going to keep this job. Even if the family treated him like dirt, the pay was enough to keep him alive. Without pay, he couldn't get anywhere. |

She smiled and nodded to the boy, "You owe me nothing dear sir, the look on my brother's face when you had that knife out was priceless. Do You work for my family sir? If so I could get you a much better job than working for that pig." She glared knives at the house, dreading the second she would have to walk in there and face the rest of her family. Aevelon shoved the gun into it's holster and sighed. "I hope he's not too much of a burden for you, I know he was for me when I still lived here." The wind blew and her reddish braids nearly came undone from the strength. "Forgive my manners, I still don't know your name sir." |

"My name? Oh, it's none to important, Ms. Khamelot. But if you want to know, It's Agido. Agido Kwandaioha." He introduced himself, "May I say, ma'am, that you're one of the first people I've met who has called me sir." It was a... Surprise, truthfully. He could have continued the conversation about this young girl's family, but he got a gut instinct that she didn't want to continue in that field of conversation. So he let it go. |

"Agido is a nice name." She smiled at him and turned to face the house. "Will you please come in with me, I have a feeling my brother twisted the truth so it will sound like you attacked him for absolutely no reason, Also I would probably become lost if I went in there alone." She began walking, hoping he would follow behind her, since without a guide, becoming lost was inevitable, even if she was raised there, she had no sense of direction when she went into that place. |

"Hmm? Um... Sure thing, Ms. Khamelot." Agido was slightly confused as to why Aevelon wanted him to follow, but he wasn't in much of a position to argue. He still remembered his place. As Aevelon started off, Agido took pace behind her. But he needed to warn her... "Ms. Khamelot, I have to warn you, I don't know much about that house. I've only ever been in it a handful of times. Your family don't much take a liking to me, if I'm completely honest." He didn't like to think that, but it was pretty clear. But what else could he do? But this young lady seemed different, that's for sure. For starters, she hadn't spat at him yet. That's a good beginning. |

She smiled at his last comment, "They never really liked me either, I guess that's one of the reasons why I left. That and they never cared about me..." The thought would make any girl cry, but not Aevelon, she lost the ability to cry a long time ago. "So... Agido, when I saw you first, I saw my brother attempt to push you down, so that's the story we will stick to, alright? And please, Call Me Aevelon, I really find formalities annoying." |

Agido just looked at Aevelon in confusion at her first comment. He knew they didn't like him, but not liking someone from their own family? Agido didn't know much about family, but he knew for a fact that something like that wasn't right. And then her second statement came in. Agido hated lying a lot. It was one of the things that really dug under his skin. Luckily, in this instant, it wasn't a lie. "Yes, ma'am- Er, Aevelon." It would be a tough habit to break, her request. But she was part of the family he served, what choice did he have? Although he had never met her, she was still bound by blood. Besides, Agido just liked to show respect to anyone. |

A plate flew across the room and smashed into the wall next to Aevelon, she had just told her father what had happened between Agido and her brother, But her father could not believe that his son would lie to him. "I'm OUTRAGED at your behavior, absolutely OUTRAGED! You show up, out of nowhere and expect me to believe you and a savage over my son? Your OUTRAGEOUS!" Her father always did have anger issues, but to call Agido a savage... that was uncalled for, Aevelon stood up and pulled her gun out of the holster. "I'm came here to see my mother! Not to be insulted by some fat, old aristocrat, who doesn't even know what outrageous even means! And how dare you call Agido a savage! You're the one who's savage! You brute!" Her finger coiled around the trigger, Though she knew she wouldn't fire. "NEVER, EVER, CALL ANYONE A SAVAGE AGAIN!" She screamed. Aevelon turned around and grabbed Agido's wrist,She pulled him out the door and to the horses. "Were leaving Agido, they don't deserve either of us , we're too civilized for them." |

Agido sunk down a little as the scrap was going on. He was planning on trying to find a peaceful way to solve this, but Aevelon didn't give him much of a chance. With a hold on his wrist, he walked out of the house. Truthfully, he was happy to be out of there. "Aevelon, you shouldn't have drawn your gun. There could have been a more peaceful way to resolve that. Guns aren't the answer, you know." Perhaps now wasn't the best time to say that, since Aevelon still seemed to have some pent up rage, and Agido might end up with a gun in his face, but he needed to speak his mind. "It wasn't worth leaving your family for. It's happened before, nothing to get angry about." |
