Review of Lord of the Rings War in the North Version; Xbox 360 Story; Unlike the previous Lord of the Rings, the title takes room north of Middle-earth. It all began in the town of Bree whereas you'll meet with Aragorn before he's crowned, (obvious.) You'll receive the main objective, find and destroy Agandaûr for he's leading the Orcs in the north, also put it more in consideration, the second hand of Sauron him self. Traveling to Fornost is when the battle finally commence, other then the first cut-scene involving the Ring-wraths. Battle your way up through the town, until we found our self at the citadel, only to have the evil one flee upon his fell beast. From here on, there's no real clue where to move. But this ain't no open world game, so it simply guides you towards the next step. Nevertheless, you'll embark on quite the journey through some known locations from both the movies and books. And I ain't about to reveal no more, but saying there's a few choices that could change the outcome, but nothing considerate that'd leave you with enough room for more. Gameplay; There are three playable characters to choose from. A dwarf, an ranger and an elf. Each has their own advantage as they develop in new skills and abilities, gaining new armor enhancing your attributes, just like any ordinary RP would do. There are a small choice of changing your character's appearance, but if your looking for something that'd almost leave a self biography, then this won't do. There are but one lousy game I must admit. What had considerate hope on finding more, left me with the challenging hobbit that'll give you a chance to answer his riddles. And if your wit are cunning enough, you'll leave with a purse of gold, or in this case, empty handed. You'd think there's a chance to return there for later. Na ah! Not until you fulfilled the game, and from there starting all over again. There are a few side-quests to be found as well. They'll give you a boost if you actually tend to do em. Considering how average long this game was, it's not that much to find, though it'd leave you with around 15-20 hours of game-play, maybe more if you want to grab everything. Apart from that, there's some few challenging bosses to be found, as well with some challenging missions that include sending waves with enemies with increased strength towards you. Controls; The controls are rather stiff, but nothing that'd be uncontrollable. In fact their rather accurate, just everything feels a tad bit slow considering other titles, but nothing you'd get used to. Whereas there's one complaint and that's the control of the AI, (allies). Their way to dumb to acknowledge a defense when you've ordered em to. Sure they move back to your position. But for what gain, rather then pushing forwards, firing at will and without the consideration their actually moving into the heat of battle again. Serious, I didn't ask you to attack. Not sure if this is what they were meant to do, but the lack of control of the Al, sustained a pretty minor grip, but their at least useful patching you up if you ever get struck down. The best thing about this, is the chance to play with friends. As up to three can take control of their character and play through the whole campaign with another. Graphics; I usually don't put this as any huge amount of disarray, though I'm at least dwelling upon from what I've seen in different games. The graphics are certainly slightly above average. And when I say, amazing violence as in visuals as you cut down an enemies head, arm or foot for that matter. It almost leaves you more satisfied after dealing perhaps an heavy armed Orc who's been tangling with you almost to the extent to both parts death. Character details aren't the best I've seen, but their not bad. Landscape and surroundings are as you'd expect. Beautifully designed. Apart from the water that seemed off a bit. Overall; I was addicted from the very beginning till the end. Though the final outcome was a bit disappointing and most of the locations are merely there for showing off, and in case you wish to read about the various locations that you never are allowed to visit, because the fact... This belongs to the North. There are also further difficulty levels after you complete the game. You'll able to pursue the act getting stronger as well. So if I have to add a final score. I'd say. 7/10. I liked it a lot, but it ain't a masterpiece, but fans of the the series/genre should be able to enjoy what hours this game has to offer. And nothing is better then the chance of going through an average length RP with one on the same coach or two people online. That's about what I could wrap up without using anything that'd be considered spoiler alert. (Yeah I know, I'm not an expert on this, first review as well. And quite frankly I may have ended up to short on some things that could've been good to mention. Nevertheless I'm sure this game ain't considered vital for anyone's part ether.
