Be careful where you buy accessories. I bought a new blue dualshock 3 controller off of a 3rd party Amazon seller and got it early this week. Turns out it was counterfeit. I knew this was common on ebay but didn't know it was on Amazon. Luckily the seller gave me a full refund after returning it. What was crazy is it was in official packaging and all. It looked darned good, it was a very good counterfeit. Although when I used it the first time I knew something was wrong because the sticks were too stiff. After research on youtube I found other subtle details that made me sure it was a fake. Edited by Neo Metallix, Jan 21 2012, 03:06 PM.

Has anyone ever used a 3rd-party controller that wasn't horrible?

Although you can inspect the controllers there in the store before you buy them. They buy them new straight from the manufacturer so there's no need to worry about that.
