Eggman the genius with a QI of 300.

Most of the time...

Now that the Sonic franshise hit the 20 years mark I saw we lock back to see what where the doctor best/worse plan to conquer the world or to destroy his enemies.

I'm looking for 3 things. What you think was his best plan/worst plan. And what you think was the most illogical move he ever made.

I think his worst plan was probably the one concerning Dark Gaia.

After he tried to control a god of destruction before (chaos) and ending up losing control over it, he tries the same with gaia again, giving it the power it needed and all.

He did build a nice robot out of the power he harness.

His best plan I would say... Sonic adventure 2. Mostly because that was the first time he actually look dangerous to the public.

*Moon blows up* (it would also count has the most illogical move in his plan if it wasn't for the fact that nothing happen to the relation moon - Earth. I jut say he know how far he could go.)

The most illogical move comes from Sonic Adventure.

The idea of capturing small creatures and use them to fuel robots = A good idea, definitely evil.

Releasing a monster more powerful that you and expect him to follow you command = Evil but definitely a bad idea.

Its been a time that I've played any game besides the Adventure series and the Advance ones so I remember just a few of Eggman plan.

Now for your opinions.

The concept of capturing small animals and utilising them to power badniks has been around since roughly 5 seconds into Green Hill Zone Act 1, as discovered upon popping the motobug on the lower level.

That aside, interesting thread has grabbed my interest. I'm enjoying the development of the good doctor in many aspects of Sonic'verse stuff, especially the comics.
As far as the comics are concerned, his best one so far has been the most recent Death Egg plot; it's taken Archie about a year or two of real life to build up to and involves A BACKUP PLAN. Which for the round one, is virtually unheard of(I expect someone like Bliz will correct me on this one).

Game wise, I was quite fond of his epic plan from Sonic '06, even if the grand puppetmaster was Mephiles. That had elements of a genuine capacity for ruthlessness beyond what we'd been subject to, or rather it had been executed with a level of maturity we were unaccustomed to.

Best though probably has to go to the Eclipse Cannon. Enough said there really.

Dr. Eggman's best plan was when he stopped fudgeing around and got a helper.
And what better a partner in crime than Chaos.

All of his heavy machinery was nice and all but didn't have power.
Obviously, if a Motobug can take one hit and kaputt then so can a gigantic, red, shiny Metal Sonic.
They are made by the same kind of iron, right?

His worst?
He doesn't have one because he's that cool.

Although, with an IQ as big as his I'm surprised that hair isn't as important as blowing a chunk of the Moon off.
I see the Bosley commercials all the time.

But is he not just doing Adventure over again? Egg Carrier, fabled monster?
Because that sounds like an awful idea.
Frankly, I can barely remember because of how bad that game was...

But, anyway, thinking on other games...
Ya know, Unleashed wasn't exactly a bad idea.
It was risky, but yeah, he managed to turn Sonic into what was pretty much anti-Super Sonic. He's won now, eh? It may be a lot like the Chaos thing, but you know, with Sonic all messed u-
Oh, wow, he's as powerful as ever, if not not more so.
Dandy.

Poor Eggman.

But yeah, Eggman needs to pull something brutal at some point. Not that I particularly care to have an overly gritty, darkhearted Sonic game, but I'd like to see some intense character contrast, just for the sake of making the evil more threatening... And shocking.

^ I agree with that... I'd like to see Eggman displaying a bit more maliciousness in at least ONE game. In Sonic Adventures 1 & 2, he was moderately threatening but couldve been worse. Sonic '06 was a bit better in the evil department, though Mephiles had him beat in terms of cold ruthless villain. In Sonic Unleashed he seemed fairly ruthless, especially in the beginning. But in, like say, Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedehog, he just seemed like a comic character.

However, I will say I personally think his plan in Shadow the Hedgehog was by far the best, at least the most interesting and it seemed well-thought out, like he actually literally Did The Research.

We all make choices. But in the end, our choices make us
The Eclipse fucking Cannon.

That announcement he made before blowing up half the moon gave me chills when I first witnessed it. He was truly evil in SA2 and seemed more human like if you will, with his reactions.

Deem Bristow always did a wonderful job, expressing that diabolical nature in Eggman that I loved.

His worst "evil" plot? Hmm. Although now he is more comical and idiotic than he ever was, I have to agree with Ped and say his plan of commanding Chaos was truly foolish. And he payed for it in the end. Seeing him getting blasted out of the Egg Carrier always did crack me up though. xD

I don't think his plan in Sonic Adventure (to control Chaos) was neccessarily a BAD plan, and certainly nowhere near his WORST plan... In fact, I'd say it was a pretty GOOD plan. The only thing wrong with it was that it was particularly risky.

I actually find the time eater a good plan.

He actually learn from his mistake and decide to double his power by getting another Eggman. How did he got the Eggman so he could help him. No idea.

But if the final version could transporter entire city a prototype could easily do that to one guy.

Ayane @ I agree. Even through I find it an incredible stupid idea in general (Chaos was way out of Eggman league) he probably thought the monster would help him if Eggman gathered all 7 chaos emeralds.

Another case of jumping into a plan without doing his Research.

Angel Island Act 2
From games his alliance with Shadow was great, but he actually got in over his head when Gerald Robotnik took control of the Ark and tried to blow up the planet... After all, no point in ruling one if it's freaking gone.

From comics... His most evil act was an omnicidal attempt to end the world on the Fleetway comic... And Egg Grapes from the Archie series, it involved using mobians life force to power a weapon and actually killed a few in the process. He was told there was a more efficient way to power it, but this way was more fun.
