No need to fear, Snow Toilet is here.
I made a recent purchase involving an HDTV, which is my first.
I love my Sega Genesis, as well as my Saturn and Dreamcast, but unfortunately the games don't look good on an HDTV of any sorts.
Everyone should know that.

After reading up I came up with a solution to do HDMI or Component.
There are converters designed to plug into an HDTV with the help of SCART cables.
Some people say it's best to do a SCART to Component and I've seen many pictures of a good looking SCART to HDMI.
I'm not too concerned about the costs of an HDMI/Component converter but which is a better option and also I'm looking to get not just picture but sound as well.
Keep in mind, I plan to do a Genesis and 32X setup.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I don't own a Mega Drive so no European/Japanese options.

My solution: an old 14" portable. I'm deadly serious, modern TV's are just too advanced - almost as if they've had the old inputs purposefully removed in order to encourage people to buy newer equipment. It's not possible that the industry has done this on purpose, it just happens to be a mistake... right?

I've still got my old TV from when I was 16(so going back a few years now...) and it still works perfectly with all my old-school consoles. So maybe if you get fed up with lots of cables not working, you could consider that as an option.

We are still watching
I deliberately bought an older CRT style 20 inch TV for my older consoles. You kids and your flat-screens can get off my 16-bit lawn.

Well, a smaller TV does sound like a good idea but the only problem is I have really bad eyes.
I upgraded from a 20 some inch because of that reason.
Not a joke, my eye doctor recommended I buy a bigger TV.

Sit closer to the screen(I always sit so the volume controls are just out of arm's reach, as a guide) or glasses. Or both.

I wear glasses every day of my life.
And I'm not going to have my eyes burned out of their sockets just so I can entertain myself with our special Ninja from the Nth Dimension.

C'mon peeps, I'm looking for serious suggestions not ones involving little things.
Big things poppin' in Snow Toilet's world.

Because haters gotta hate, I'm going to repeat my problem.

Looking to do a SCART to HDMI or Component.
Which is a better option for a Sega Genesis with a 32X setup?

I wear glasses too. I take my glasses off when I sit that close. It's damaging if you sit closer than the distance I suggested.

My suggestions were deadly serious. As an avid fan of the 16-bit era I've been heavily limited by the technology of today and what you've just done sir, is ask a question not knowing the answer and told me and Cy we're wrong. So if you already know the answer then why are you asking..?

Ain't no haters in this topic...

I've had a little trouble with this before, mainly with my PS1. The solution turned out to be using the PS2's input cable when I want to play on it XD

That's nice but it doesn't help my problem.

I still can't use this.

This is a pretty old topic to be bumping- five months- especially without actually offering a solution to this theoretically-unsolved problem. Try not to do this with topics older than a couple of months in the future; if you have to post in an old thread, make sure you're actually kick-starting the conversation with a contributing post.
