Basically like Neo Metallixes topic, only this time in reverse. Cause often there are games that we hate, but seems to be utterly adored by Critics for reasons unknown.

So basically here you can tell of the games you hated but Critics didn't.

For example, I hate the Assassins Creed games.

I really liked the idea of being a assassin in a game. The only problem is the story is nonsense. Say what you will about some of the concepts, teh story really is just compiliation of all the things Ive heard from New Agers, from 2012 prophecies to alien gods, and the main bad is just Illuminati By Any Other Name.

I just fail to understand why you couldn't just be a assassin without the sci-fi bull thrown in.

Fable 3 by far.
Critics seem to score it highly in the 8/9 out of 10, but when I played it I found the gameplay to be dry and repetitive, the story to be boring and the characters to be uninteresting.

Most FPS games. Kirby's Epic Yarn. Darn, I should know a whole bunch of em!
I hate Monster Hunter Tri, but that's not by fault of the game. Nevertheless, I don't want to be in the same room with the game.

Plenty of FPS games, specifically Call of Duty games. Sonic Adventure. Dead or Alive 3.

Eh. Not sure how I feel about this topic. Just seems like a topic going to be filled with bashing and likely arguments.

But hey. There's Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. I thought the controls of that game were pretty much broken on any controller(At least the Wii mote, nunchuck, and gamecube. Dunno about others), severely unbalanced difficulty and characters, and everything else just seemed clunky to me. Nowhere near as polished as other fighters I must say.

Anyway, FPS games such as Call of Duty like you guys say. There's nothing wrong with Call of Duty but to me, at this rate, they're feeling like nothing more then sport games(Another choice!). Very little change, and yet they still get insanely high reviews and friends keep buying them and telling me they're amazing.

They are probably others out there that I'm nit-picky about, but don't come to mind at the moment.

Kirby's Epic Yarn.
Never played it, but I never bothered with it. The game just seemed to have no challenge whatsoever to it.

Break out the L-word. The other L-word.
All Call of Duty's after the first Modern Warfare.

And then all the games that modeled themselves after that.

And that's all there really is to say on the matter. :I

Pretty much this... I've honestly never played these but the games just seem so stupid and pointless.

I still can't use this.

My brother convinced me to try Modern Warfare 3, and it was in general my first CoD game experience that lasted more than a few minutes. It's fun as hell: easy to get into but difficult and satisfying to master in some spots, with absolutely insane set-pieces and scenarios to hop into. If they all play like that, then they're all pretty much well-made, addictive games, and that's why the series sells and gets high critical scores.

I find it ironic that Sonic fans of all people would dismiss the series while simultaneously admitting they haven't played a lick of it, when they'll just as quickly turn around and pick a bone with someone who has dismissed a Sonic game without playing enough of it to their liking. If you've no experience to talk from whatsoever, then yeah, it's easy to dismiss CoD and FPS games in general as it would be anything else you haven't tried much of, but seriously, that's a pretty ignorant thing to do. Granted, I'm not an FPS nut either so I don't have too much experience with the genre in general, and I'm not too keen on how their mechanics and terms have monopolized the industry a bit; However, I can just easily see the appeal now after taking the time to just sit and, yanno, play it for myself. =|

As for this topic, I can't think of any games I've outright hated that critics have liked. There may have been games whose high critical consensus I've disagreed with a bit (don't let the critics fool you: Galaxy 2 is not significantly better than the first), but I don't think there's a game I've personally tried that had good scores and I didn't understand why it got those scores. Sometimes killing shit is just fun.

I actually think are the CoD games are really fun, but I just don't buy them anymore because it's just a cash cow. They just keep bringing out a game every year that really doesn't change anything, and set record sales each time. I think MW3 will be the peak of the series though, since even the most obsessed players (pretty much most people I have on facebook) were disappointed in how little changed. Hopefully the next game will have a dip in sales and Activision will stop doing yearly releases.
