Which Did You Prefer?; Classic stages or modern stages?

So, did you find yourself playing the Act 1 or Act 2 stages more and why?

I don't think I need to tell you guys this, but just in case, please no flamewars and no retro/modernfaggotry. Saying "Classic/Modern is bettur cuz Modren/Classic sucks shit" is not an acceptable response.

Personally, I preferred playing as Modern Sonic more, mainly because I like roaming around in 3D, but I also found it cool that, unlike in unleashed and Colors, you could get through the entire game without boosting and still have fun with it. (it is mandatory at parts, but at least it's only to avoid cheap deaths due to moving too slowly) Plus, I found the Classic stages to be a bit clunky in terms of controls. I still enjoyed playing Act 1 stages, but if I just feel like playing through a stage, I find myself going through second acts more.

And yourselves?

Don't tell me what I can or can't do!

I grew up with the 3D Sonic, so naturally I lean towards the modern Sonic stages more. It was definitely the best of the Unleashed engine I have had the pleasure to play, and if they make more Sonic games with stages like that, I would be completely fine with it. I liked the classic gameplay as well though. It should be how Sonic 4 plays.

I have been enjoying Modern/Act 2 better. I just enjoy the bigger move set I have on my hands -- wall jumping, homing attack, boost, light speed (although barely used).

I also like taking the scenery in the level better as modern. I can appreciate more when I'm not limited to the "2D" that is classic. I mean planet wisp is breathtaking when you're leaping off a booster.

Being a guy who liked progression and more features, I have to say Modern. I've got nothing against classic, but Modern had the speed, drifting, homing attack, stomp, side step, ring dash, more movement then just left or right, and boosting. Case in point, modern offers more gameplay to me in game, which I say again, you can't take anything away from the classics, since it progressed from that.

My! That's a pretty snazzy performance there!
Modern, it just offers more to gameplay. Just Classic brings nostalgia, but there is much more deeper gameplay to Modern styles. Point said son!

So yea, what he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^

a little equal to compare

classic stages are longer because he doesn't have boost
modern stages are shorter because he can go mach 1 speed

to me they have equal lengths but i voted for modern sonic anyways

Modern Sonic all the way. Nothing against Classic Sonic at all; it's just that over the years I've become far more accustomed to the modern gameplay, and I really, really love the extreme speed :D

This tends to depend on the stage I'm playing and what sort of mood I'm in, but I'll admit that a lot of the time I do find myself playing the Modern Stages more than the Classic. Nothing against Classic Sonic at all here (As well as the classics in general. Classic Kid here), I absolutely adore his gameplay, but usually Modern wins just because his levels seem a little more fun. The power of progress, eh?

I was ridiculously tempted to be that one guy who votes Act 1 though. |P

On that note, I actually really like the Classic Version of City Escape. Especially for the way they sneakily worked Endless Mine into it. <3

I'm just gonna drop this right here: It Doesn't Matter riff > Endless Mine riff. Prolly cuz Endless Mine's music means nothing to me, but eh.

Anyway, despite the music, City Escape Act 1 was pretty alright. Both acts seemed kinda average to me tho', especially when it was placed right next to dat Seaside Hill.

Personally, I prefered both of them just about the same.
I have no real preference, so I'm not going to be voting in this poll.

i perfer modern, as much as i might get flamed i didnt like the classic gameplay since i played sonic 4...so classic is kinda stale for me, but modern might be the same too but i like the sense of speed for most of the stage.

Actually Seaside Hill is always kind of a meh stage for me. |D;

I like Act 2 enough but even then I never seem to play it that much. *shrug*

Also there's the riff for It Doesn't Matter in there somewhere? Time to listen to these tracks again, methinks~

In the Act 2 music there's a riff from It Doesn't Matter in the bridge, yeah.

Also Seaside Hill was my favorite stage in the entire game. :I

Act 2 anyway. <3

@Jeff: Y'know, the whole "as much as i might get flamed" thing reminds me of how bad this fanbase can be, and to be honest that kinda bothers me a bit.

But we don't flame people over stupid shit like that here, so don't worry. :3

Well i really can't decide because of these reasons

Classic Cannot use boost so his stages are a bit longer
Modern Sonic Can use boost allowing you to traverse through levels faster

But,Modern sonic For me,i like the revamped classic version, but modern just feels more Right
Instead of Magically bringing classic in out of nowhere
Gahh didn't answer the question right, In General Act 2 :)

Act 2. It just was much more fun and had a lot more thrills than Act 1. I enjoyed both acts a lot though.
