Lava Reef Act 1
|
So, did you find yourself playing the Act 1 or Act 2 stages more and why? I don't think I need to tell you guys this, but just in case, please no flamewars and no retro/modernfaggotry. Saying "Classic/Modern is bettur cuz Modren/Classic sucks shit" is not an acceptable response. Personally, I preferred playing as Modern Sonic more, mainly because I like roaming around in 3D, but I also found it cool that, unlike in unleashed and Colors, you could get through the entire game without boosting and still have fun with it. (it is mandatory at parts, but at least it's only to avoid cheap deaths due to moving too slowly) Plus, I found the Classic stages to be a bit clunky in terms of controls. I still enjoyed playing Act 1 stages, but if I just feel like playing through a stage, I find myself going through second acts more. And yourselves? |

I object to your claims

Beyond the shadow of a doubt, Modern Sonic. First off, he has a bigger repertoire of moves at his disposal - Boost, Quick Step, Drift (though this one is kinda hard to control), Homing Attack, Light Dash (even though it doesn't seem to work half the time) Slide, Stomp - in comparison to Classic's Spindash. The more moves just makes the game more fun to play with him. Also, Act 2 stages, I found were overall better designed (with the exception of Chemical Plant. :P) and they tended to have the better music (with the exceptions of Speed Highway and Planet Wisp) |

Break out the L-word. The other L-word.

For me, I gotta say I prefer the Modern Sonic Act 2s. It seems faster paced to me, and a bit more exciting. And I tend to suck a tad less at the Act 2s than I do the Act 1s. ^^; |

This might surprise some people considering I'm a bit of a punk for the classics, but I voted for the modern stages. Aside from classic Sonic's stages not really feeling all that smooth, the jumping - while a MASSIVE improvement on Sonic 4 - isn't all that brilliant. Now modern Sonic. BOOOOOOOOOOOOST homing jump stomp BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST sidestepsidestep BOOOOOOOOOOOST homing hominh homing slow walk fall stomp BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST. Thank you all. |

This isn't a contest. The main modern stages are far more fun to replay. Unlike for Classic Sonic, the level design and control have been significantly improved from the original without any real loss of speed or adrenaline as was inherent in Colors. This was modern Sonic's absolute best showing thus far. But I will say this though: The classic speed-running missions could get addictive in their own right because then you're forced to really utilize the landscape ala DKC:R. Classic Sonic's levels do have a bit of a flow to them that's probably underrated, but they require a lot more work to get into. |

I'd certainly say both. But seeing as we're comparing modern with classic, I have to say Modern. That exalted adrenaline pumping through the course as you want to make it through the fastest way possible, and still managed to coop, catching all the valuables, such as the red rings and most of all find the fastest route. Classic is a bit rugged, and most of the parts if you ain't considerable accurate, you'll drop down at the lower areas. This may lead to some frustration, if your looking for rushing through for that S rank. I'd say it's merely for the practice and have a decent enough memory to remember when you have to jump. This certainly ain't no different on the modern, but heh! There's just that I prefer modern if I need to compare em. |

Lava Reef Act 1

Jesus Christ, NO votes for Act 1 yet? xD I knew this entire forum was a huge devil's advocate to the Sonic fanbase stereotype, but come on! But I agree. Nothing gives me much more satisfaction than a good stomp n' boost. |3c |

It might be a more fair contest if the physics and level design were more accurate, but even then, we have so few people here who grew up with the classics that it doesn't matter. xP |

I prefer the modern stages for several reasons. I like how the modern stages captures the level designs much more well than the classic as there is only so much you can see at one time. Much more of a wide environment is also a great thing about them. I felt that there was much more to do in the levels rather than the classic ones. Not to mention there's much more of a speed experience presented in the modern zones. The classic zones were great but there wasn't much of that experience I had in certain levels like Planet Wisp and Rooftop Run especially in their own games. |

Lava Reef Act 1

I will admit tho', smashing and raiding that Blimp (with a clock) in Act 1 of Rooftop Run was pretty friggin' neat. |

Votin' for Modern. But Classic had its moments, for sure. Classic Chemical Plant did it's original counterpart justice, Classic Seaside Hill was probably more enjoyable than Modern Seaside Hill to me, The same goes for Classic Sky Sanctuary, And Crisis City offered quite the Classic Stage, in my opinion. Also, the ship in Classic Roof Top Run was very neat. |

Ah, but you comment this to a very strong Sonic Heroes apologist. Edited by Brick Mage, Dec 29 2011, 10:09 PM.

But you're the only person in Forever-and-ever-and-ever-and-ever that even remotely liked that game, and as cool and awesome as you are I'm afraid your opinion is as valid as mine
