Adam was in the park, walking across the sidewalk when he suddenly saw someone writing poetry. Interested, he walked up to her and smiled. ''Hello,'' he says. ''I see you're writing poetry.'' |

The young white-furred cheetah only glanced her eyes upward for a moment, but made a double take afterwards. It was hard not to know this person. He was pretty popular at their school. It wasn't always the good sort of popular, in which people liked him, though. She stuck this reason on why she recognized him and put no further thought into it. She lowered her blue-eyed gaze back to her messy folder with a half-written poem on it. She was wearing a black dress, her legs bent at the elbow functioning as a desk to write on. Her back was almost perfectly aligned with the tree behind her, presenting a strange sense of formality. She didn't look at him as she responded. "Hi." She wiggled her pen a bit between her index finger and thumb. "Yeah, it's uh... just some thing I do when I'm bored, I guess..." She wasn't used to talking to people. She didn't really like talking to people. The only time she would talk to others is when she had to ask them something, or had to work with them, or simply had to respond to a question, like now. Something popped into her mind, a way to complete this stanza in the poem, and she went back to writing while awaiting the inevitable response from Adammy. That was his name, right? Adammy? She wasn't sure. That's what she had always heard people call him. She thought it was a weird name. Edited by Wallace, Dec 18 2011, 02:36 PM.

He chuckles and sits next to her. ''Well, that's cool. Mind if I read it?" He asks. ''By the way, name's Adam. You seem familar...do you go to our school?'' |

The cheetah tried not to look at Adam as he sat next to her."My name's Adelaide. And, uh, yeah. We go to the same school." She would have made a well-intended remark about this person's name that conflicted with their apparent gender, but she knew better. She knew that Adam was a female-to-male transgender, a boy trapped in a girl's body. She took her poem and folder and held it to her chest to hide it when Adam asked to see it. She didn't really like to show people her poetry. But for some reason, she felt as though it would be okay to share it with Adam. Maybe he would like it? She never showed them to people because she was afraid they might not like it and would tease her about it. But maybe it was the way he had been pretty polite with her so far, or the fact that at school he seemed pretty smart and intellectual. "Uh... sure..." She pried the folder and poem from her chest and reluctantly handed it to Adam. |

Adam smiled. ''Thank you, Adelaide.'' he took the poem gently from her and read it. He smiles. ''It's a good poem.'' He looks over at her, ''I mean it.'' He gently hands it back to Adelaide. |

Adelaide blushed slightly as she took her poem back. "Um... thanks. But, uh... it's not really all that... great, um..." She figured that he just said that to be nice. She nervously began to wiggle the pen between her thumb and index finger. |

Adele blushed some more. "Uh... thank you..." She never really thought of her poems as something she could be good or not good at. She just sort of used it as a release for every thought, idea and metaphor that she came up with so that her mind wouldn't be so overfilled. She risked turning her head to face Adam despite the pink blush still warming her cheeks and smiled. "Do, uh... do you write, too?" |

"Oh, um... just curious." She turned back to her poem, pretending to look like she's continuing to brainstorm but in reality is just looking at it while she talked to Adam. "I, um... don't know many other people around here who like to, uh, write." |

Adelaide began to realize that talking to him while looking at her poem probably seemed kind of awkward since she wasn't really doing anything with it at the moment. She looked back up to Adam and smiled. "What do you like to write about?" |

"Huh. That's usually what I do. I guess, I, uh, just write down things I've been thinking about a lot, or just things that pop into my head. It, uh, helps to write things down, if you don't have anyone to talk to." She kept up her smile, not finding this confession of loneliness to be all that bad of a thing. |
