The truest of Lycalos

It was a midsummer afternoon. Not a cloud was in the sky and the temprature rested at a comforting 72 degrees farenheight. Up in the sky was Luxsolis the wolfbat. He was taking his usual afternoon flight around the outskirts of Central City. He enjoyed prolonged flights to excercise his wings and keep them strong. This heat however, was keeping him from such a hobby. Only 15 minutes into his flight and he was feeling overheated. He was above a beautiful grassland, the seemingly infinite grass swayed side to side like a wave as a slight breeze kicked in. A crisp and clean scent was produced and looked extremely comfy to lay in. The wolfbat cuaght sight of a lone tree which had a patch of shade much to his satisfaction. He swooped down and plopped himself into the shade, sighing deeply in releif escaping from the relentless sunlight heating down on him. An ear-to-ear grin formed on his face as he lay on his back with his hands folded behind his head. The soft grass was cool and comforting and he felt relaxed. |

Down on the ground outside of the city, Dusty sat in the shade of the tree Luxsolis had found, reading a book. Though it was a warm day, she still wore her black hoodie, even though it added to the heat. It didn't bother her too much in the shade, however, and it was better here than in the city park with so many people already trying to find shade underneath the trees. She looked up suddenly as she heard a light whooshing noise as Luxsolis suddenly swooped down, lying down in the shade just in front of her. She shrank back slightly, realizing that he must not have noticed her just yet. She looked at him curiously, not having seen a Mobian with such an odd mix of features. She didn't quite trust his intentions, however, and started to think of a way to slip away unnoticed. She slowly started to get to her feet, not moving too quickly so as not to attract the newcomer's attention. As she stood up fully, she started to walk slowly around the tree, careful not to step on a twig or cause too much rustling in the grass so as to alert him to her presence. As she looked back to see if he was still lying down, however, she suddenly stepped on an uneven part of the ground as she suddenly lost her footing, falling down in the grass. |

Although the wolfbat had acute hearing thanks to his large bat ears, he was too preocupied in the relaxation to notice the footsteps at first. However, as she fell, it was more than enough noise for his ears perked up. He sat up and twisted his body to face her. "Oh, hi there. I'm sorry I didn't notice you there." He said with a slightly emberassed chuckle. She would he greeted by his warm, comforting and highly expressive gold colored eyes. |

Dusty was taken aback by the wolfbat's eyes, not expecting them to be so warm. She sat up as he spoke to her, simply nodding in response to what he said. She didn't have to read his mind to tell he most likely wouldn't harm her, but she was still a little wary of him. Past experience had shown her how negatively others would often react to her abilities, so she often didn't use her telepathy until she was certain that someone could be trusted with the knowledge of her ability to use it. |

The crossbreed gave her a smile a he got to his feet. "My name is Luxsolis, or just Lux for short." He stated as he took a couple steps towards her. He leant out a hand to help her up onto her feet. She seemed to be on the defensive, so his movements were slow and careful and he spoke softly. |

Dusty nodded, taking his hand as he helped her up. She tried making some movement with her hands, though they seemed erratic, and she didn't even know if he could understand. She somewhat knew sign language, though not enough to really have a conversation for too long, and she easily got flustered when she was trying to say something. After a moment, she gave up and simply signed her name, one of the few things she could do well through the language. |

Luxsolis looked at her with curiosity and tilted his head to the side a bit. At first he had no idea had what she was doing. Upon the relazation his face lit up and his neck straightened. "Ah, sign language." He said outloud. "My apologies, but I don't understand." He went on, giving her a nod. |

Dusty shrugged as he said this, not knowing what else to do. After a moment, she had an idea and made a motion of scribbling something on a paper. She hadn't though about carrying something to write on around with her before as she usually tended to stay away from people, but she realized that it was probably the best way she could communicate without having to resort to her telepathy. |

Many questions formed into his mind regarding why she couldn't speak. Was she born with that ability? Was she deaf? Was it her own personal choice? Endless possibilities flowed through his brain. Nonetheless, he loved making new friends and she seemed like a kin and caring indivdual. As she made her geatures, Luxsolis was more aware and quickly understood what she was attempting to say. "Paper and something to write with? I don't have that stuff on me, but I'm pretty sure I can make a quick stop into town." He suggested, pointing over to the nearby city with his thumb. |

Dusty nodded as he said this, agreeing with the idea. She couldn't express too much with her current limitations, but she was at least glad that he could understand her enough to help her get what she needed to express what she wanted to say better. |

Luxsolis began walking towards town, glancing back over his shoulder to see if she was following. "You coming?" He said with a teasing smile. He wanted to know just what was going through her mind and he intended to find out. Once she followed and the pair made their way into town, Lux was pondering deeply about his newest friend. Although she wasn't exactly talkative, that made her all the more interesting. He occasionaly glanced over at her which made his curiosity grow. She seemed to have so much going on in her mind. Dusty smiled slightly, nodding as she went to catch up with Lux as they headed into town. He seemed a little preoccupied with something as they walked, and she wondered what it was. Fortunately, she didn't catch him staring too often as she was involved with plenty of her own thoughts about him as well. Once they got into town, she saw an office supply store that would have what she needed and she started walking off towards it. |

Luxsolis saw her head off towards a set direction. After scouting the area ahead, he noticed she was heading for an office store and he trailed close behind. "I'm pretty sure they'll have what we're looking for." He said a snicker walking side by side with her. As the two approached the stoor, he being the kind wolfbat he was, stepped inside and held the fully opened door for her by pressing his back against it. He would wait for her to enter before he did so. |

Dusty smiled slightly as he opened the door for her, stepping inside and looking around. After looking around for a moment, she found what she was looking for, an aisle for notebooks and writing utensils and pointed it out to Lux to let him know where to look. |

Lux stepped in after her, the door closing shut automaticlly. As expected, a wide assortmant of office supplies were neatly organized on the shelves with various employees stocking them up. Through his peripherial vision, he saw Dusty attempting to get his attention and he looked over at her. He approached the aisle she stood by and saw she had found it. "Alright, now I don't think we need anything too complex." he stated as he began shuffling around. Soon, he had a sheet of white construction paper and a black pen which he took up to the front. A cashier greeted him, an acne ridden, human male teen. After making the purchase he looked around to see where she was. As soon as he saw her, he would give her a gesture towards the door. |
