Anyone get this game? It seems the platformer genre is making a come back. Well not like it was in the 90s but it seems to be gaining traction. We had LittleBigPlanet 2, Sonic Generations, Super Mario, Ratchet & Clank, Skylander: Spyro's Adventure, and Rayman Origins. Next year we have Sly 4 and Jak HD(possibly Jak 4 as well).

Anyway back onto Rayman Origins. Thank god they went away from the rabbids and did a proper Rayman game. I have seen videos and it looks quite good! I have considered buying this and probably will sometime in the future.

Can't wait for it. Was a big fan of the Great Escape, and that's what really got me in the series, as I later played the first and third. I have been looking forward for this game since day one. Think it will probably be a Christmas game that I'll get for the Wii.

Also, unrelated, but was the Jak confirmed as a trilogy? Haven't heard anything of a possible Jak 4(If there is, would so get it).

I was going to say it was out already but then you said it was probably going to be a Christmas game. lol I have never played the originals but they do look good and I might buy them for PS1 or on PSN.

Jak 1,2,3 are going to be redone in HD. I am expecting Jak 4 because every HD collection has had a follow up. Sly collection had Sly 4, God of War had GOW3, ICO collection has The Last Guardian, etc...

Yep.
Honestly, i wanted not a prequel but a sequel to the third RayMan game. But i'm still happy they seperated the Rabbids into their own series.

I played the original game before, and this game certainly looks like it's returning to that style! I thought the Rabbids were the stupidest thing ever, the first time I saw the commercial for the first game, I was like "What the hell are these things, and what are they doing in a Rayman game?!". At least now they stopped associating those things with Rayman.

I'm glad Rayman's finally getting a proper game again. After the frustrating annoying cretins that were the Rabbids, it looks like Rayman is finally reaping back his place as Ubisoft's mascot.

SO NO MORE RAYMAN 2 PORTS FOR EVERY NEW CONSOLE UNDER THE SUN PLZ.
Many thanks to LunchPolice for creating the avatar picture. :D

Rayman 1 is one of the best 2D platform games ever. You'll love it. I wish origins was done in the same art style as the first game though.

Rayman 3 is being put on PSN and I believe Rayman 2....? I don't know about the second one but the third is definitely being ported.

What do you mean?
Rayman 2 has only been on PC, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, iOS, PlayStation Network and Nintendo 3DS . . .
Thats not a lot. . . . [/sarcasm]

In my opinion its about time the Rabbids were dropped. I at first thought it would be kind of cool when I saw the one trailer before it became a full out party like game. Now don't get me wrong I am a big fan of the Rayman franchise, and I am happy that a new game had come out, but this one's a little too wacky to me. I can handle wacky things, but this game goes over my limit to it.

I just got this game for Christmas..FANTASTIC!! It honestly is one of the better multiplayer games I have ever played. It's competitive, fun, easy, and is not in anyway frustrating. It's great for old time fans and newcomers as well. Me and my ten yr old brother, my 23 yr old brother, and my 50 yr old dad were all able to play together with no problems from anyone. The artwork is also fantastic. I definitely recommend this to anyone who was considering it.

I still can't use this.

I got this game for Christmas as well and I just completed the story mode last night, which was pretty damn epic I might add. So much frustrating, thought-provoking, precise platforming; so good. Excellent game, the best platformer I've played this year hands down.

With just the few maneuvers and the fact that every piece of the environment can be interacted with properly, the developers have given you an obscene amount of control over Rayman both in how he can navigate his environment as well as save himself from potential gaffes. They even managed to get a swimming mechanic in there that isn't confusing, a pace-bogger, or freaking annoying. Combine this with level design that begins to get more demanding of the player's handling of Rayman overtime in a reasonable manner, culminating in an amazing final level, and you have something marvelous. T'is a shame Ubisoft essentially sent this game to die; it needs more sales. 8(

I also dabbled in multiplayer two days ago with a friend for about five hours, and the entire time I was wondering why this was much better to play than NSMBWii, why I didn't feel the need at any time to punch her in her damned mouth and vice versa. Aside from the fact that you can punch players in-game(!), the complete lack of player collision detection beyond that was a god-send. If RO had been another ping-pong ball affair with its level of floatiness, I wouldn't have been happy playing this with anyone.

Also, little competition. There's no power-ups thus nothing to gouge each others' eyes over; the collection of Lums only amounts to who's placed where on the stage over screen, but the more important thing is how many you've both collected together, and this vastly increases cooperation between your partners much sooner; you'll be actively deciding which of the players should go for which Lums and coins, and telling each other to wait for a second as you go for something they may have missed. It's great.

Everyone who gives even the tiniest bit of a damn about good platformers- nay, good games in general- is obligated to buy this one.

I'm very glad to hear that! I think I will buy it when I can find it on sell. I really want to believe that platformers are coming back but even if not, it's good to know there's still a good selection out there. I just rebought Ratchet & Clank and going to get All 4 One and LittleBigPlanet 2 eventually. Plus I already got Sonic Generations. It almost seemed like the genre was on its last legs.
