Say what you want about Sony copying Nintendo but many people, including me, just do not care and have been wanting this to happen since the PS2 days... It seems it is about to happen but still a gleam of light in the distance. I won't post images but quote the article. So far, according to the rumors, Kratos, Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Fat Princess, Parappa the Rapper, Sweet Tooth, and Rico (Killzone) are in the game.

I really hope that Sir Daniel Fortesque, Gabriel Logan, Ratchet, Jak, Patapon, Sackboy, Cole McGrath, and Jester are in it!

Rumors have been swirling as of late that Sony will soon be unveiling a new fighting title that will see some similarities to Nintendo’s Smash Bros. franchise. In particular, it seems that characters from Sony’s various game franchises will be gathering for this upcoming project.

New content has been discovered that all but confirms this speculated title. Chris Molina, a senior level designer at SuperBot Entertainment, has posted the images above to his Twitter account and has left messages that essentially confirm its existence. One image even indicates that Kratos and Sweet Tooth will be making an appearance.

SuperBot has been the studio rumored to be working on the project.

Some of Molinas more interesting tweets:

1.Our capture station and waiting area – Parappa is a permanent resident http://twitpic.com/6a60jz
2.The character artist sitting a row ahead of mine is modeling polygonal female boobies. Carry on…
3.Our studio fighters getting their brawl on http://twitpic.com/6au76k
4.Racing to finish a level design doc for today’s review – map layout is looking spiffy if I do say so myself.
5.Slam! Second level design pitch approved by our studio leads! Now onto Sony Santa Monica for a final green light.
6.In the middle of a skype video interview with a level design candidate from Osaka, Japan.
7.New Sony Playstation commercial vaguely foreshadowing our soon to be announced title – http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature…&v=HBuK3EcY6vk
8.Checking out the original art assets from a Sony IP title we’re appropriating for my level – very cool seeing this environment in raw form.

Announcement soon, then?

W-w-what?

A lot of the characters listed I just can't see working that well in a Smash Brothers-like game. Some aren't that memorable as well. Fat Princess?

I'm not against the idea. I mean, Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake, as well as some of the others sounds cool(Ratchet and Jak & Dexter just has to make it), but I'm kinda against the idea of Smash Bros gameplay. I don't care that it's obviously kinda copying off Ninty, but I think they should find a more suitable gameplay for Sony exclusives cross-overs. It's just so weird.

But what do I know. Haven't even seen the game. *shrugs*

Also, the article is updated. Seems Molina removed his Twitter account shortly after revealing the stuff. Does it change anything? :V

Perhaps he got in trouble for posting that stuff before Sony allowed them. However, Fat Princess is a memorable character. I don't see any problems with the characters(although parappa the rapper would look weird in 3D). I don't think they would clash, they did have Snake in Brawl afterall and he's not near as nonviolent as Nintendo's characters. It would probably have to be rated T and treated like DC Vs. Mortal Kombat as I don't see Sly disemboweling someone with his cane.

We all laughed at the people who were requesting Cloud in SSBB.
Now they actually have a decent request.
Hell, I'll say it.
Throw in Cloud Strife and I will buy the game.

But Cloud is Square Enix, not Sony. |P

Besides I stand by my statement that Dissidia fills the need for a Final Fantasy crossover fighting game. *nod*

As for this... nyeeeeeeh. I'll wait and see if this is a thing that's happening before giving any solid opinions on it.

Well, SSBB had Sonic and Solid Snake in it, so I think there's still a possibility for characters from other companies in this game.

True, but now you're assuming because it's a Smash Bros like game that they'll be doing everything just like Nintendo did. I'd imagine for their first outing they would want to focus on their own characters.

Like Fen I don't see how his is going to work for some characters. But I guess we'll find out.

Ratchet & Clank getting in would have to be the minimum for me to be considering playing this.

I'll get lol'd for this, but the PS3 used the same font as the Spider-Man movie title, so, on a wild guess, maybe he'd be in?

And don't just diss me for this, but think of Sonic and Snake in SSBB.

Just a wild guess, anyway.

Seems to me like they are just using the 'similarities to Nintendo’s Smash Bros' as a tag just to hype the game up, at the moment the only similarities to Smash Bros is that fact that they have an all-star cast, I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be a standard fighting game in any other regards.

[Note: I'm not hating on this game I'm just stating my opinion based on the given facts. I actually think this has potential to be a very good game.]

That's all Smash Bros is anyway. A standard fighting game(albeit highly polished) with a big all-star cast to give it hype. Although I'd prefer if this game took a Tekken/Mortal Kombat style approach.

Correction.
Spider-Man 3 used the same font.
Technically, PS3 came first.

And a Final Fantasy character, especially one that had his first debut on a Sony system, doesn't seem too farfetched.
Actually, it makes a lot of sense to throw a FF character in.
Well what about old school Sony characters like Crash and Spyro?
I'd like to see them in.

And Snake and Sonic appearing in SSBB is only because they both had happened to be requested by the creators of the game.

What is the difference between a duck?

It seems interesting, but I'm sure if Sony does it Microsoft will eventually jump into the all-star brawl style genre sooner or later.. they did have an arcade game awhile back called Small Arms that was fun and pretty similar in execution.

Must beat faces in with Masta Chef.. I mean Master Chief.

I know Sony had a game for the Move that had something of an all-star cast but I'm not sure what it is.
It's on the PSN and the picture has a few characters which I don't know the name of but I'm sure they are Sony characters.
And can Microsoft even have an all-star game?
They have Master Chief and that fat guy from Gears.
That's it.

Eeehh not necessarily true. SSB is the first to fuse platforming with fighting if I recall.

My thoughts exactly. Does Microsoft even have enough exclusives?

Seeing FF characters like Cloud or Lightning would be nice, but I can't seem them adding guest characters like one said. It's the first of what could be a series. They should just focus on making this game good before being worthy enough to host other characters.
