Least favourite stage

HARD WORK AND GUTS.
Okay, so we have most favourite but let's hear what stages drove people positively loopy. Or the ones to just downright didn't like aesthetically. Because we need a fair balance to ascertain what was good and bad, right?

For me, this award had to go to Seaside Hill. This level had so many crappy traps it was untrue. For Modern Sonic we had a booster pads sending you to places where if you didn't land dead center, you'd fall off and die, and a weird change of camera angles kept throwing me off and making me homing attack off the side...

Classic Sonic had spike traps in the worst possible places and there've been moments in the underwater segments where I've either fallen through a 'floor' into the pit beneath, or those mines have insta-killed me.

So yeah, what stages did you guys like least?
Hey, all the cool hip RP-ers out there. RP with me. I'm cool too.

Mushroom Hill Act 2
Probably Crisis City or Planet Wisp.

I haven't played Sonic 06, so I don't know if this is intentional or not, but the enemies feel cheap and usually serve to just slow you down. There are other instances of this in the game, but the problem is highlighted the most during this level. I did like them when they were used to reach alternate paths is platforming though.

Unfortunately, Planet Wisp had some issues too, but I did like it more than Crisis City. I loved the first part of this level for both acts, especially act 2. It's easily one of the best looking parts of the game and the part where you jump from platform to platform on giant alien trees featuring multiple pathways stands out as one of the game's best moments. The problem comes when you begin encountering wisps, as they affect the flow of the game a lot more than they did in Sonic Colors. I don't mind the game's flow being interrupted for platforming sections of anything like that, I just dislike it when it's stopped because an enemy popped out of nowhere or, like in this stage, to make you do something less fun. The spike wisp is used too much, and felt too slow and clunky. Sonic Colors did it a lot better.

Act 1 of Seaside Hill takes 3rd, because you spend too much time underwater. It kind of made up for things though by having a platforming section outside, above the surface of the water, which was very aesthetically appealing.

Overall though, the game is not bad by any stretch, and, although these may be my least favorite levels, I still enjoyed them.

I agree with the general consensus of Planet Wisp. First for being so damn long, and second for not being a very climactic final stage. But as far as the most frustrating stage goes, I'd have to go with Crisis City Act 1.

That freaking tornado section at the end.

Argh.

Sonic Fans are used to something dark or epic for a final stage. The joyful, cheery, bright, upbeat nature of Planet Wisp just didn't fit the bill. A broken, distorted time level featuring segments from the previous levels would of been more appropriate. Either it be with Act I and II or Eggmanland style, withed forced switching between both Sonics. -Should be hired by SEGA-

I completely agree with Crisis City Act I. Roughest platforming ever. And if you don't time it perfectly, you plunge down to the lava below...

I can see why you would hate Planet Wisp(personally one of my favorites but it could have been so much better), but the whole "Sonic fans are used to" part really irks me. It just says, "fans opinions are fact and any other opinions don't matter" and that's just B.S. So it's not a dark final level, big deal. Besides I doubt most fans cared that it wasn't dark in the first place.

Well, simply with any game, you're used to an epic final level. But I was greeted with happy fun-time Planet Wisp instead.

It's simply a preference of mine.

I like your idea for the final level being a fusion of all the other stages, preferably taking place after Sonic Colors instead of replacing it. It wouldn't take a lot of effort either considering they could reuse some models, textures, ect. from the other levels. I guess I would swap Planet Wisp for either the first or final level of Sonic Colors (I don't remember their names.).

As for having a dark final level, I agree that it comes down to personal preferance. I don't care either way, but I can see where you're coming from.

At least Planet Wisp is slightly more fitting for a final zone than Tropical Resort... for Gawd's sake, Dimps... *shudders*

Why they didn't just use a stage like Final Fortress, Eggmanland or Asteroid Coaster, for either version, I'll never know. Hell, I'd have settled with Green Hill at night!

But yes, it was ill-fitting, making the two calm, light levels from Colours the final zones in general. It's like if the final zone of Sonic Heroes was Leaf Forest... which would have been absymal. >_<

Planet Wisp could of stayed, but the final level just be tacked on afterwards. But the last level in Colors was Terminal Velocity, the ultimate Boost to Win stage. A level like that would be perfect, with more speedy platform elements. But with Super Sonic enabled, you transformed 3 seconds into the stage and could tape the Boost button down, go use the Bathroom, and come back unscathed.

It would of been nice to include missions that included elements of other games in Generations, such as maybe a short team run with Team Sonic, just like being able to use Wisps at Planet Wisp.

Green Hill Zone, both acts. They're just so empty and not fun to run through.

I just have to ask this quickly, but I can't understand the Crisis City act 1 complaints to be honest.. I forgot if I died the first try or not on that tornado, but I know it wasn't really any huge ordeal getting through, personally every jump in the game for me felt easy to time and execute with first try.

Christmas is back again

Another proud owner of this game.
Well after a few hours of gameplay I've made it through 6 of the so called worlds.
Seaside hill, modern.... I felt it was almost back to Heroes level, perhaps I was just clumsy ending up at the lowest path, the obvious slow and not so appealing way that is.
I shouldn't make it a final conclusion, but so far this and the boss was kinda lame to me.
First boss that is. I have only seen Rush, but I'd love to see a boss fight similar to what this game offered instead.

Nevertheless I'm still enjoying the game, no doubt, but that's my least favourite so far.....

Not an easy choice but I'd have to say Speed Highway for Classic. It's funny because all my favorite levels made it into Generations (including 3DS), but in Speed Highway the lower path is always throwing me off. But my opinion is always changing to what stage I like/dislike. For Modern I'd have to say either Sky Sanctuary or Planet Wisp. Maybe platforming levels aren't my thing. What I dislike about Planet Wisp is that over one half of the level is 2D.

I still can't use this.

Classic Planet Wisp. The near-unwieldiness of Pink Wisp annoys me. Add in short-range missiles to the equation and it drives me bonkers.

i'd say planet wisp for both sonics time wise, but really? i didnt like classic seaside hill (i didnt like heros, and it was kinda boring) and modern green hill zone (i played the 2nd demo to death and green hill zone is bland in my eyes.)
