Here is my idea... I hate having one LONG discussion topic for a specific game. It just gets too big and all discussion gets buried. It's death to any specific topics and when someone asks a question someone always points out that it was already discussed or answered. Sure the first post is always updated but it is only with news for the upcoming game and when it comes out it's done being updated. I think we should merge Sonic's Universe with Starpost and make that a general place to discuss Sonic and old games. Then have a few specific forums for newer and future Sonic games. Opinions? I think it's a good idea, it would definitely make it a little bit more active, and I always thought the existence of "Sonic's Universe" was a tad bit redundant inside a section of the site called "Sonic's Hangout"... I think the names we're in the wrong places...

Eh, I dunno. I kind of like having a seperate section for the games and other material. I guess you could give each a subforum, but really I see no problem with the way things are now personally. The section looks small enough as is on the main board. But maybe that's just me. |

I kind of like that too but there wouldn't be too much of a problem with moving the other stuff with the older games since no one really talks about the old games much anyway. The new sections for upcoming and recent games would not be subforums. Subforums are a way to kill all activity in an area(seriously, no one ever visits them). |

The reason would to be to spur discussion a little further than what we have. Will it work? I think so but it may not, it really wouldn't hurt anything regardless. |

Will it help? I'm willing to bet probably not. If discussion isn't happening in two areas, merging them together will just mean there's more discussion not happening in one area. Doesn't really encourage more posting. Something to talk about does. And frankly there's not always something to talk about that hasn't already been done to death. |

^ And then the forum became a single board made up entirely of utter chaos. -BAD END- As far as I'm concerned it's not really broken. So it shouldn't need to be fixed. Real question is if you merge them can you be bothered un-merging them if it's decided that things are better the way they currently are? Seems like a lot of effort if we're taking the no sub-forum route. |

It'll encourage discussion for the new games where there IS something to talk about. The stuff that has been done to death gets very little discussion which is why it should be merged in the first place. Look most other Sonic forums do this and even non-Sonic forums do similar things. I don't see how it would harm anything and it's better than just sitting on our duff doing nothing.
