We all make choices. But in the end, our choices make us
I think I love the place enough to sport a T-Shirt. I mean why not? It sounds so fun! :D

As for donations, Im sure I could dish out some cash if we went with the idea. I mean, it doesnt have to big a big deal. Whoever wants a shirt or mug or whatever can ask for one and someone who is willing can make it and supply. It will probably be only a handful of us who would want some merchandise anyway.

Sure they won't notice somebody trying to sell their stuff and make a profit out of it. But when they do, I guarantee it'll be lawsuit hell.

^ Any publicity is good publicity, right? hahaha j/k Yeah I know what you're saying MoD. It'd have to just be Lulz and Shack stuff since SB material can only be made and given away, not sold. Can't make a profit off of other people's work.

And on that note, might I suggest a competition for a Sonic Blast logo that doesn't involve Sega IP? I don't think Sega can do shit all about the font, but characters are probably a no-no unless they're fan created. Which would be a entirely different topic in itself... :P

Making merchandise costs money. You'd have to have it made and then have a system that supports accepting money. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to make it but who would be holding onto all of the merchandise and where would the money go?
Could use CafePress, and make it a non-profit gig. Or failing that, a small markup of say 1% to contribute towards the lovely domain name fees(y'know, that lil bitch that rears its ugly head every year ;) ) - there's plenty of options.

My main headache with this is the making and selling of... well, how do you sell Sonic Blast stuff without pissing off Sega? [goes to look at DevART to see how the 'tards over there sell their prints of Sonic fanart all the time]
I recently remembered this topic and would like to bring it up for anyone who has knowledge of this. I know we can't sell our merchandise because of copyright(unless it's made in such a way that includes no references to Sonic) but can't you purchase the license to allow it? I mean there are lots of vendors on ebay/amazon that sell Sonic shirts, they must have gotten the license to sell them some how.

I don't know where I'm going.
These are the times I'm really proud that I have the amazing opportunity to work for a music promotion company. I actually feel useful now!

The vendors of eBay and Amazon, or any vendor in general, aren't violating any law in selling the shirts because they bought it from the official vendors themselves. Risky business, really. You see this strategy used in big cities all the time. When it comes to merchandise, if you use logos, images, or sayings in a manner that suggests that your t-shirts are endorsed by or associated with the franchise, then you might violate trademark law. Sucks. I know.

There are ways around this though. One of them being free distribution. Make what you want, with whatever trademarked character that you want, but don't sell it. That's key. Another thing people typically do is completely distort characters into a new art style that are based off the original artwork. Basing things off of other ideas isn't illegal. Band merchandise does this all the time. For example, you can refer to Same As Sunday's Mario Tee. Notice he's wearing Converse-like shoes, hair isn't black, and the hat doesn't have the trademarked "M". It has "SAS" instead. This something referred to as a mock-up design.

Doing this isn't easy, but with a good artist it can be done. If any design were to go through as official merchandise, I can help whoever set up an account. Being part of a promotion company includes access to some pretty cool stuff, like clothing printing presses (;

I think =SB= merch would be a great idea. Selling, maybe not...but a loyalty award? Member of the Month award? Certain amount of donation present? Internet raffle prize? Just tossing ideas around.

It's a good idea but not very realistic. What about shipping costs? People like me who live in Europe or UK would be difficult to give gifts to because of the high shipping costs - at least I'm assuming it's high, guessing it'll be send from America, too.

this seems like a good idea, but who would handle all the merchandise, ship it around to the other members AND wouldn't it require people to register where they live?

Distribution of apparel, or any form of merchandise, would be managed by the =SB= staff members themselves, I imagine. An online merchant account on some sort of website will suffice (i.e Big Cartel, Amazon, eBay, etc.).

Customers would indeed have to expose various information, including names and addresses, but that goes without saying. If a member were to purchase something, exposure of their personal information won't be an issue. We all have usernames. Our real names will be hidden, just like our card information when one makes a purchase. The hosting merch site will take care of that itself. The security is at its prime, so there's not much to worry about.

The only issue is the distribution of the merchandise. The staff can get together in their staff forum and discuss it amongst themselves though. This is all up to Metallix and the rest of the crew though. I was just answering Metallix's question.
If they were to approve of the idea though, I can see big things going for =SB=.

I had nearly forgotten that I ever brought this up ^_^;

But I'm still willing to make this a (personal) project if it ends up going anywhere. (And by personal, I don't mean by myself XD)
