Sonic 06?; Why did SEGA never release patches.

Can't have pancakes without pancake mix.
Anyone else wonder why SEGA never released patches to fix the game?
I mean really the game was released unfinished, why not fix it?
If SEGA would have done this, it would have made the game so much better.
What are your your thoughts on this?

Likely cause the game was a failure to a point where they didn't feel they needed to.

Yeah, I think the main reason that game even went platinum in the first place was because they way over-hyped it to the point where everyone thought it was going to be awesome. Now, almost no one cares about it anymore, so Sega must not care about it either. Fortunately, rather than dwelling on past mistakes, they seem to be working harder than ever to keep the franchise going, Sonic Generations is evidence of this if nothing else.

I really don't think there was enough care. They were pushing for the game to be released by a certain date and instead of caring about the quality, they just cranked it out. It was foolish on their part, but it's not uncommon for game companies to push for holiday releases for the sake of sales even if the game is half done or full of bugs. Along with over-hyping a bad game.

If it were to be patched/hot fixed it should've probably been done within the few weeks afterwards, but they obviously care enough to bother.

The post above me pretty much sums it all up.

However, they did release some Very Hard mode DLC things. Those should have been free, though, not 3 bucks each, as they didn't offer hardly anything new.

Hydrocity Act 2
A while ago, it was announced that, for the 20th anniversary, a new version of Sonic the Hedgehog with no glitch would be released. Everyone of course thought it'd be 06, but it was later revealed to be the 1991 game. When Aaron Webber got asked about 06, he basically answered that they didn't care. What truly happened to have the game rushed, I don't know anymore, people said many versions of the thing. All I know is that Yuji Naka left during the production and that didn't help at all.

As much as I'd like to see that happen, I think it would be better that Sega just makes a new adventure formula game, and don't repeat the same mistakes as 06:
Sonic couldn't move while jumping in high-speed stages.
=
Tails and rouge should have more moves and a cross-hair for their snipes
=
Knuckles bad hit detection
=
Amy should be more mobile, her only attack leave her a sitting duck, and so does her invisible move when she re-appears.
=
Silver should have better aiming, and some of the stuff he's holding will collide with each other, that should be fixed to.

Besides all that, I enjoyed 06, but Sega should take elements of all the 3D games into consideration for another adventure style game. There's lots of potential and possibilities there, and I'm really hoping their not completely thrown out for spin-offs and sonic only, Unleashed day stage based hedgehog engine.

HARD WORK AND GUTS.
It would've taken too much effort to patch the game. They didn't get much out of it anyway, so really, what was the point in trying to make a rotting corpse live again?
Hey, all the cool hip RP-ers out there. RP with me. I'm cool too.
