BOB PAGE He didn't really have a choice. WALTON SIMONS Has he been infected? BOB PAGE Oh yes, most certainly. When I mentioned that we could put him on the priority list for the Ambrosia vaccine, he was so willing it was almost pathetic. WALTON SIMONS This plague -- the rioting is intensifying to the point where we may not be able to contain it. BOB PAGE Why contain it? Let it spill over into the schools and churches, let the bodies pile up in the streets. In the end, they'll beg us to save them. WALTON SIMONS I've received reports of armed attacks on shipments. There's not enough vaccine to go around, and the underclasses are starting to get desperate. BOB PAGE Of course they're desperate. I've been in the character judging scene before on Concept Mobius, so I'd like to think I've got pretty good experience. So yes, let all comparisons to Simon Cowell come my way. Nevertheless, here's my critique on Sombra. == Basic Information:* Pretty basic stuff. It gives all of the necessary information needed plainly and directly. However, one thing to note is his odd height-to-weight ratio. If I'm assuming correctly that he is supposed to fit in with the normal standard of Sonic anthros, then he is quite skinny. Remember: Sonic is 3'3 and weighs 77 lbs, so Sombra being only a few inches taller yet over 30 lbs. lighter is quite inconsistent. Appearance: The best thing about Sombra's appearance is that he possesses full, multiple outfits for different scenarios. It's good to know that he has an actual wardrobe and it expresses your creativity well. Otherwise, there is nothing particularly unique about him; mostly due to the fact that he's a hedgehog. His spine style has obvious Sonic and Shadow influence, and there are no extra markings or differentiations to his body to make him look a little more than just the standard hedgehog type. Personality: What became immediately apparent is that Sombra is your typical dark character: silent, lonesome, excessively sensible and intelligent, a little shifty in his allegiances; pretty Shadow-esque right down to the name. While his neutral allegiance gives him some potential versatility, overall Sombra remains quite archetypal and cliche'. Very little is given to elaborate on possible other areas of his personality, which is a shame as he's suffered quite a bit through his life, and it would be much better to see more of the effects that his history could have on his psyche. To be blunt, right now, he's quite flat and could stand for some light to be shed on other areas to round out his character. Abilities: Sombra has been granted a very large repertoire of abilities, weapons, and different fighting styles, giving him an 'all-around' edge in battle. Some of them are even a little creative, particularly the presences of Lenta and Denta. However, I will say that his entire move set is simply too overpowered. Many of his maneuvers deal multiple hits, have pretty large ranges, and/or simply appear to have a devastating effect. He also has a Super Form. This, coupled with his high intelligence and amazing battle strategies, makes a battle with Sombra quite one-sided in his favor, especially since his weaknesses do not effectively counterbalance his strengths nor explain his physical and mental limitations. History: I will give you points by saying that his past is quite detailed (as is the rest of the bio). There are quite a few characters in his life as well, a nice counterbalance to his generally dark and lonesome nature. But as before, I have to admit that his past is very cliche'. He's an artificially made hedgehog gifted with great strength and abilities whom was captured by GUN and lost a friend by them in the process; much too similar to Shadow to go without mentioning. He has also been designated as a prodigious being at the end of the narrative, and the entire story has an fervent air of metaphorically racial and scientific bias. Basically, it was all too general and mundane for me to really get into. Overall: Overall, Sombra has proven to be nothing special. The little bits of creativity displayed in his appearance and abilities are entirely overridden by the fluffy, cliche' material and excessive inspiration from Shadow to give any real benefit of the doubt. The character's potential has been undermined severely and will probably need a significant overhaul to further display the creative potential he has shown and continues to possess. 5/10
