Lady Gaga is in talks with Queen guitarist Brian May to take over as the band's new lead singer.

Original frontman Freddie Mercury died in 1991 and Paul Rodgers took on vocal duties for the group for five years from 2004.

The collaboration ended in 2009 and now the rockers are looking for another singer to complete their line-up so they can go back on the road.

May is hoping Gaga, whose stage name is inspired by their hit song Radio Ga Ga, will accept an offer to sing for them.

He tells Britain's Daily Express, "We talk about going out on the road all the time but there’s a bit of a singer problem to put it mildly. We get a lot of offers to work with other people. I worked with Lady Gaga and she’s very creative and is someone we’ve talked about singing, fronting the band with. She’s not just a singer, she writes her own material."

The musician is also considering bringing in several guest vocalists to give renditions of Queen's hit tracks as part of a TV show: "We have talked about doing duets with other people and in a strange way I almost pressed the yes button. We were debating the idea of a TV show where we have all these guest stars. We didn’t press it today but we are still looking at it. Lady Gaga has said she would like to do something with us."

As you may or may not be able to tell, I'm a HUGE Queen fan. And to hear this news, it frankly sickens me! I have little respect for Gaga as it is, due to her always focusing on quite explicit song topics, not trying to sing and perform to her potential (she hardly uses her singing voice), and just swimming along with the overall mainstream. But now to hear that she could possibly be the new frontwoman for Queen, a spot that as of present only Freddie has held?? Freddie was a legend, a revolutionary performer, it saddens me deeply to think soon Gaga will be used to fill that spot! I wouldn't mind if they started a new band with her, but they are thinking about essentially letting her be their new Freddie!!

What are your thoughts on this? Maybe you see what they see as to why they are thinking about going through with this?

You only get one chance to live. Most people live those lives without ever realizing it.
I really don't like this. Not one bit. She's mixed in with all the other pop stars that are just garbage, and to hear that she might be singing for a legendary band like Queen, it's just wrong. The way I see it, it's a horrible idea mixing pop with rock and roll. Soon she's going to be changing the band to suit her and shit, and that's just freaking disgusting. I disapprove 210 percent.

Exactly! It's horrifying! Especially considering she's one of those at the forefront who are helping to destroy that which is music. Well that's what I see anyway. Her 'music' just isn't anything good, she hardly puts effort into it, you can tell if you listen. Compare that to Freddie, who worked very much hard on every song Queen made. He worked to record layers of complex vocals, and have them all tie together smoothly and perfectly! After their first album was released and laughed at by the British press, he vowed that from then on every album they made would be perfect, they would never take shortcuts, and would make sure every recording made, every ling sung, guitar string plucked, was perfect. And you can clearly hear that in their music, but Gaga...... to have her carry over the legacy... whey.. she'd massacre it and that's putting it nicely :(

I don't know what the hell your talking 'bout, but i'm sure that Lady Gaga taking place for something to sing will be terrible. I'll go ahead and turn on my radio then...!

You know, I thought about this a bit, and this might lead to more good than we're speculating.

I mean, Gaga's lewd songs often get a strange face from me as a response, but if there's something about her that I actually like, it would have to be her voice. Truth be told, she has a pretty awesome voice, nothing like the yet-to-mature Bieber or the absurd 'little promiscuous girl' voice Spears tries to do.

Maybe with some direction from Queen, Gaga could finally put her voice to some good use. *takes shelter*[/tryingtolendanoptimisticview]

Azn to the max.
Lady Gaga is my motivation. Queen is also my motivation.

But I can see why you don't like a pop sensation joining in the rock business.

Then again... Gaga loved music as much as the next guy (I've seen all of her documentaries, as a matter of fact) so I don't really mind her joining in the band itself. What's wrong with a little change? She's a VERY TALENTED musician. :/

I'm completely unable to see the bright side :/ See here's what I think. I think that Brian and Roger (remaining Queen members so far) should just start a NEW band with Lady Gaga. The trio could be a new band, and just kinda promote themselves as affiliated to Queen. Because I'm sure Gaga CAN sing well (Though none of what I've heard yet proves it..), but it's painful to think her to go down as part of Queen... to share in the legacy that Freddie helped to create. I wish they would have quit trying to keep the band alive after Freddie passed away. Thing is, they used to have a bassist too, John Deacon. But he parted from Queen not long after Freddie died, because he felt that they should not continue to play together as Queen with Freddie gone.

So I think for me, the biggest issue I have isn't that I'm against Gaga (I am, but it's not the biggest issue). The biggest issue is that they'd let her join Queen, a band that should never be anything other than the four original members.
