Is there a videogame character...

... after which you'd name one of your kids?

I was talking with Eil about names when I recalled having read in the October issue of Game Informer something about a guy trying to name his baby Ganondorf. Eil then brought to my attention that actor Robin Williams named his daughter Zelda after Princess Zelda from LoZ.

So my question to your SBers would be just that: Is there a videogame character after which you'd name one of your kids?

Personally, I wouldn't mind calling a daughter Kairi or a son Roxas after the KH characters.

You only get one chance to live. Most people live those lives without ever realizing it.
Jak from the Jak and Daxter series, or Marcus or Dom from Gears of War. Either one of those are the ONLY ones I would name my kid after, but then again I doubt I'll name him those, mostly because they don't go that well with my last name :P

If it was a girl, I'd have to name her... Naomi from Metal Gear Solid. Again, doubt it because it doesn't go with my last name.

Hmm... If it's a boy...

- Sain (from Fire Emblem)
- Kent (from Fire Emblem)
- Kyle (after Kyle Katarn from various Star Wars games, at least sounds normal)

If it's a girl...

- Lyn (after Lyndis, again from Fire Emblem)
- Excellen (after Excellen Browning from Super Robot Wars OG... but ah... maybe that's inauspicious considering her personality in the games. No daughter of mine is gonna wind up like that, mark my words...)
- Ciel (after either Ciel from Megaman Zero or Ciel from Tsukihime... means 'Sky' in French, I love this one the most, so I have dibs on it you fiends! |< )

We all make choices. But in the end, our choices make us
Awesome question.

For a girl:

Aerith-Final Fantasy VII

Yuna- Final Fantasy X

Kairi- Kingdom Hearts series (Dont wanna be a copycat but it is a great name. :P )

Rinoa- Final Fantasy VIII

For a boy:

Dante-Devil May Cry series

Axel-Kingdom Hearts series

Im not sure how much of a chance some of these have of actually being one of my kid's names but it could happen.
Where the hell is Final Fantasy X HD?!

For a girl:

Sonia - Megaman Star Force

Kairi - Kingdom Hearts

Namine - Kingdom Hearts

For a boy:

Sora - Kingdom Hearts

Link - Zelda series

Yeah I'm in the same boat Breezy. I doubt I'd have a kid with these names but it would be kinda cool. ^_^

Rejoice, for bad things are about to happen!
Hmm... that is a good question....
There aren't to many video game characters I would name a child after, Tons of book characters! but not many video game characters....

I might name a son after Zelos or Regal from Tales from Symphonia. As for a girl.... there aren't really any names from video games....

If it's a boy, I will probably most likely name him John, Laharl, or Sindri. If it's a girl however... lordy... I have bunch of names of video game characters for girls.

- Samus
- Etna
- Flonne
- Meryl
- Alma
- Katherine
- Jane (Female Shepard)
- Rozalin
...And so on, I have a dozen video game character names for girls I have planned in the very case I have daughters.

Hm... I dunno. Haven't really thought about it. Then again I don't ever think about having kids so... *shrug*

But here's a quick list off the top of my head.

-For a Boy-

- Reyn (Cause as far as Xenoblade names go, this one's pretty normal)
- Nolan (From Fire Emblem. I use this in a few places so it's pretty good)
- Sion (From The Bouncer. I dunno, maybe. Big maybe)
- Rei (From Breath of Fire III. Well don't that just beat all?)

-For a Girl-

- Sharla (Xenoblade again. Sounds normal and has a nice ring to it)
- Deis (From several Breath of Fire titles. Not too weird, not too normal)

... I can't seem to think of any more past that. I'm sure there's plenty but they're not there right now. I might post some later if they come to mind.

For a boy:

Sora - Kingdom Hearts
I wouldn't call one of my kids Sora. There's nothing wrong with the name, it's just that all of my immediate family members speak Spanish and Sora sounds like zorra (Spanish for "vixen").

Don't want my little boy teased by his cousins for having a "girly name" nor would I want my parents, aunts and grandma looking at me like, "Why did you give the poor girl a name that sounds like 'fox'? That is just so wrong."

I actually had plans since I was 10 to name my first born son or only son Giovanni after the Gym Leader.
That's all from me.

The Female Ultimate Life Form!
Hm, I've contemplated this before, but never given too much thought about it.

I would be fine with a girl named Zelda.
And, I could see maybe using the names of toons I've made on MMOs for a girl's name. I put a lot of thought into some of those characters names and even though they aren't official, I would consider using them for a daughter's name. Aleena and Sessily off the top of my head.

I can't think of any other names, although there are some female characters that I really like, their names are a little old fashion for the times now, but maybe they'll be cool again some day.

I haven't really given any male names a thought. :x

What is the difference between a duck?

Only normal names.. I'm not giving my children (assuming I chose to have any) crazy batcrap names or Japanese names if they're not of oriental decent in any way, that's just selfish and stupid. The only one's I'd maybe consider are normal names that can sort of be related to the character but aren't like "lol you're named after THAT character"

John - Halo/Mass Effect
Marcus - Gears of War
Clay/Clayton (honestly a bad ass name) - Clayton Carmine /Gears of War
Dante - Devil May Cry
Johnny/Kurtis - Mortal Kombat

***

Anya - Anya Stroud
Laura - Tomb Raider
Sonya/Mileena - Mortal Kombat

Seriously... not to be rude.. who names their kid Zelda or Sora.. I'd feel sorry for the kid. Might as well name mine Optimus.. That would be shocking if I didn't already know there is someone named "Optimus Prime" in the US National Guard...
