Wow, this may give me more inspiration to come close to touching this game again.
After a month of playing, last year, my goal was to beat Nemesis and never play it again.
Now I might.

As for FFX, I'm sorry but there is no way the graphics are gonna be THAT insane. FFX doesn't use Crystal Engine unlike XIII, so it's impossible. If anything, it will only have a clearer view in your HDTV than the standard PS2 version.
But but-can't they make it work? I'm not an expert on game engines and stuff like that, so I could be wrong, but I kinda hope it's just more then a clearer view. At least have the standard PS3 graphics, seeing it's an HD port which improved graphics will likely be all this will have.
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection had an HD port, but the only thing it did is make the graphics look clearer in an HDTV (Arcana Heart as well. There are more examples, but I came up with these right off the bat). Anyway, If SQNX are gonna improve FFX's graphics, they might as well make it from scratch with the use of Crystal Tools. Cuz FFX is made from a different game engine. xD

The most they can do is upscale it, really, maybe change it from 4:3 to 16:9, but it definitely won't be as graphically advanced as most PS3 games.

They can do more than upscale it. The God of War collection made the framerate 60fps and added anti-aliasing. The God of War Origins collection, being PSP games, needed to have much more extensive retooling like more polygons and even higher res textures. Regardless, it'll look good, but it won't be up to the standards of most PS3 games. It'll look like PS2.5.

Although they could remake FFX on the Crystal Engine, but that would take much more work than they'd be willing to put into it.

This is pretty interesting. I have FFX-2 myself, but I haven't been able to play X-1. Maybe I'll get a ps3 along with the HD version of X-1.

Did you just restated what I said a few posts back regarding Crystal Tools? -.-

God of War Collection... yeah true, but those are just minor stuff. At least they added a Trophy system though, and that's definitely something worth doing for FFX.

Uh not really... Anyway the Origins collection was not minor, they had to go and retool the game. The first one they just upscaled it and added 2x AA while locking the framerate at 60fps. I'm just saying they CAN do more than just changing the resolution but it's doubtful.

And so, looking upon this announcement, Chaos gave a decidedly average shrug.

If this is just a HD port I don't know if I'll be rushing out to grab the game. Although I guess my PS2 is busted so having something I can play it on again would be nice. But I'm probably not as overly hyped about this as some of you are.

I think I'm going to want to see some more information before I'm sold on this. It's a great game but do I really need another copy? *shrug*

In terms of game design, yes it is minor. No significant changes within the gameplay/story are made. The only thing that were added were again, improved "Graphics". Be it 2x AA, 60fps, and 720p support. If anything, the 60fps would be the only one that slightly changed gameplay because it makes the gameplay a bit smoother.

As the review from IGN states:

"The core games remain identical to their original releases. The textures, models, animations and everything else are exactly the same that you'll see on their PlayStation 2 counterparts...

Now, one element of gameplay that has changed very slightly is that both titles feel smoother to play thanks to the increased framerate. While God of War I and II both ran pretty well on the PS2, their framerates weren't perfect and there was screen tearing aplenty. There's none of that here, and because of it, Kratos feels a tiny bit more responsive. It's a subtle difference, one that you might only be able to notice if you've played the original versions recently, but it is indeed a nice improvement."

Subtle difference. And it's true, seeing that I've played both PS2 and PS3 versions.

And graphics do not matter in a game. If anything, the "Style" of the game overlaps "Graphics". Such as that of Space Invaders: Infinity. Low graphics, but great style and gameplay.

If FFX were to be "Remastered", I wouldn't mind seeing some extra stuff here and there within the gameplay. So as long as it is inconsequential, I'm fine with it. But yeah, I'll go with you there cuz I also doubt they will add any further to it considering it will only have a graphics overhaul (Hopefully FPS).

I'm still expecting a trophy system though (Not to be redundant, but thorough).

Well when you are talking about a graphical update of a game I just assumed we were talking solely about graphics. As far as graphics go it's not simply updating the resolution that it's displayed and I was also talking about the Origins collection which had more than the other collection.

With my PS2 busted, I think getting this is almost a definite 'Yes.'

I never got around to getting FFX for the PS2. A couple of weeks ago, I was even considering getting the game used for $20 at my local Gamestop. But seeing as how SE are gonna remaster the game on the PS3 and Vita, I'm definitely getting it this time around.

The real question, however, is if I'll get this game for the Vita or on the PS3?

I have no Vita nor plan on getting one, so PS3 for me it is.
