As if I wasn't ticked off that they haven't set a release date for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Capcom have gone and revealed that Monster Hunter will be coming to the 3DS later this year.

Like Monster Hunter games of yesteryear, This game will be an enhanced verison of Tri called Monster Hunter 3 G.

Not much is know about it at the moment except all 12 weapon types will be avalible (For Nintendo only fans that means you will be able to use the Gunlance, Hunting Horn, Duel Swords and Bow for the first time.)
Underwater sections will return. (they were missing in portable 3rd.)
The main monster will be called Brakidios (Japanese name obviously.)

While not confirmed, the G in the title would suggest the return of the G rank quest last seen in Freedom Unite.

Now I just gotta hope Nintendo will pull its weight again and get Capcom to release it over here.

As excited as I am for this (assuming Capcom doesn't crush my hopes by not releasing it here), it also means I'll have to get another system.

With the price drop, though, it's pretty tempting.

That looks.... interesting. Is the horn acidic or something? Not sure I like this monster yet.

I pretty sure nothing is know about this monster at the moment, but the game will be shown off a Tokyo Game Show and as it will be out in Japan before the end of the year I bet more info will be revealed (Or 'leaked') soon.

Alright, just checked the wiki and it had some information up.

Monster Hunter Wiki

Burakidiosu is a new monster set to make an appearance on Monster Hunter 3 G for the 3DS. It is blue in coloring, apart from bright green arms and a bright green horn. It looks like a Brute Wyvern, and it seems to live in the Volcano. From the image released, it seemingly attacks by scraping the plasma/slime on its arms along the ground to create sparks while charging in a Brute-like manner.

Kaname Fujioka, the project manager, has talked about Burakidiosu:

-The Brute Wyverns has been seen as hunting routine monsters . Many of them could not use enough weapons to cope. As a result, we have a lot of such things in this monster, so his arms are much larger and capable of boxing moves. Also head against his enemies, so it has a very simple fighting style, but when it hits, it also releases a sticky material on the ground that gradually builds up and explodes over time. Blakydios movements are simple enough, but throwing this sticky substance all over the place, players have to look closely at your position at all times.

Other news from the Wiki

Confirmed returning monsters from Monster Hunter 3 are Sharq, Great Baggi, Great Jaggi, Qurupeco, Barroth, Gobul, Agnaktor, Lagiacrus, Uragaan, Barioth, Royal Ludroth, Jhen Mohran, Gigginox, and Ceadeus.

Confirmed returning 2nd Generation Monsters are Azure Rathalos, Pink Rathian, and Plesioth. These monsters have been revamped for the game.

Multiple Chachas or other Shakalakas seem be be able to join hunts, Just like you could take multiple Felynes in Portable 3rd.

Mountain Stream from MHP3rd is a playable map.

Related, apparently Capcom is working on Monster Hunter 4, and it's to be 3DS exclusive.

Two very persuasive reasons to get a 3DS.

I just found out about MH4, I'll make a new topic on it when I get more info.

Also, While I was randomly searching YouTube I found the trailer video for Tri G.

Don't mind if I update this do you?

Anyway, Furogi and Urukususu from Portable 3rd have been confirmed to be in this game, While a Bow made from Hapurubokka parts has been seen, Hapurubokka itself has not been confirmed.

Capcom has hinted at a westernised release of MHP3G and MH4. While it's not confirmation, it's still decidedly reassuring.

Found these videos while randomly searching Youtube.
Its from the demo that was at TGS and shows a fight against the returning Plesioth and the new monster, Burakidiosu.

Nice to see the Plesioth still relies on his water cannon. |D At least as a few new tricks.

And the new monster, Burakidiosu, is intriguing. Like the x-factor of the explosive acid and the burn ailment you get when it touches you, and I dunno if it was just that specific attack or if it's when you're covered in acid, but it looks like hitting you when you are causes it to explode?

Looking forward to this more and more.

Well, seeing as I'm buying the 3DS for KH3D, I wouldn't mind picking this up if it came out around here.

More News!
Gigginox Subspecies, Uragaan Subspecies and Barroth Subspecies confirmed, as well as Black Diablos.
Also Bullfango have been confirmed but no news on the Bulldrome yet.
And bizarrely this will be the first game in the franchise to feature dynamic shadows (i.e., realistic shadows which react to a light source).
