Well, I'd need to know their color phenotypes. But I do know that black labs are dominant but can breed brown labs due to recessive k. Yellow labs in themselves are recessive e and can also have two main varieties: one with black pigment and one with liver pigment (different nose colors.) Then there's different shades of these colors. Basically, it's extremely difficult to get two black and two yellow labs unless the black lab carries one e allele, and even then it's unlikely to get an even split. I imagine only one or none of the pups were yellow. And hey, if my dog can smell it, he'll eat it. |

I object to your claims

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe the other dog was brown instead of yellow.... I don't know, it's been a while since I was told that story. It probably was brown, actually. Then you should have kept it where he couldn't reach it.

If the other dog was brown, then it'd be recessive k. Since black labs are dominant k, then the outcome would've been the same: Most of the puppies would've been black. And hey, you thing dog-proofing the house actually stops this dog? Please; he's like Houdini. Anyhoo, I changed some things, most notably the Basics section. It's now a general overview of genetics, so newcomers or people still confused can go into this guide less blind. Also added a link to the site I used as inspiration, so one can be so inclined to do further reading if they're as much a dork as I am. |

Well, whatever the coat colors, what happened was half of them had thier mother's color, while the other had thier father's. That part I clearly remember. That's what was funny about it, since the guy had claimed that could never happen. Well, it was a one in whatever chance, but it happened. ![]() Well, you still have to buy me some butter. ![]() And now things make a little more sense. Thanks Bliz.
