It is official, Sonic CD is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade and will be playable on the show floor at PAX. I still have no idea on the game's official release as both Microsoft and SEGA seem to be hush hush, but considering the fact that it will be playable on day one, I believe it's release to be imminent, within the next one to two months.

The first time what has happened? A Sonic game appearing on XBLA? Nope, I'm pretty sure that's happened.

The first time Sonic CD has been re-relased? Nope, got it on Gems Collection.

That said, while this is neat, I've got it on Gems Collection. So I'm happy. Good for folks who haven't tried it yet I guess. :P

And good for the Achievables. *Bleep Bloop* ^_^

But yeah this is nice. I might have to get it when it comes out.

Not that games like these come with too many achievements anyway. There will probably be something for completing it and something for getting all timestones and maybe a time attack thing or two. I dunno.

... damn it. Now I feel like playing Sonic CD. xD

Yeah the awards are usually pretty good. I know with Sonic Adventure you could get Sonic's Shoes for your avatar if your playtime was over a certain amount of hours. And you also could get a shirt for you avatar that said Sonic Adventure across the front. ^_^

EDIT: So yeah, I was lazy and didn't realize there was a Playstation version.
Silly me.

This is definitely the perfect opportunity to sell my Sega CD and Sonic CD just to make some extra room.

Also, did I read correctly in that trailer "see how it all started"?

Why would you want to do that, seriously? D: Space?? Well, your choice... I'll keep my console and original game, and my Gems Collection too - and I'll still buy this. But other than achievements I'd need a really good reason to buy it again, say a DS release for example...

While normally a DS release would be a good thing, if Sonic Classic Collection is anything to go by it probably wouldn't be that great. Those games were fairly poorly emulated, really. :/

But it still worked for the most part, I guess.

Definitely getting it. CD's my favorite Sonic game. <3

That teaser had Japanese Wacky Workbench Zone music. It would be boss as hell if the XBLA had the Japanese soundtrack. <3

I disagree, those games are some of the best emulated Sonics outside of the originals I've ever played. The only difference I can find is jumping is a little weird, like it's hard to maintain momentum and then really hard to lose it, but it's barely noticeable and I thoroughly enjoy playing it in a number of places(many hours have been clocked up in the bathroom for example, or on the hourly commute to work) and seriously think CD could be made to work on DS or similar :)

As for soundtracks, I have no idea which one is which these days. I have the original versions(Mega CD and PC) and the Gems Collection, and I liked both soundtracks equally. Whichever one we get will be win.

The reason it is not coming to Wii is simply Wiiware's filesize limit is too small for this game to be accepted, unfortunately.

It will also have TRUE widescreen support. It will NOT be a simple emulated version either. An interesting tidbit is that it supports Sonic 2 style spindash and Sonic CD style.
