Quest of the Warrior: Scarlet Kingdom; Well let's just see how this goes...

Adrick looked away from Jesse, his stomach sank and he realized that his own hometown must have also been destroyed. He wanted to say something, like sorry, but was too ashamed to say anything at all, so he just followed the rest through to the basement, not noticing the mark that appeared on his hand.

Adrick followed Jesse through the door that the old man had gone through and was a bit startled to be so welcomed by the large group of people, shaking Sequoia's hand weakly; when he shook Sequoia's hand, he saw the mark on his own.
He held his hand up after Jesse spoke and had his own words.

"Do any of you have this mark, also? Does this have anything to do with it and, if so, can you explain to us what's exactly going on? Jesse's right, it is highly unlikely that it was just coincidence, that we were all in the same place at the right time."

(Theodore, you did not post a bio sheet of your character, nor did you state that Seb(Royal Conquest) approved of you joining. Do not post in an rp topic without first signing up or posting a bio sheet of your character. This is a verbal warning. I've also deleted your post but have saved it in case Seb actually invited you. If he did you should have stated so before posting. I'll wait to see what Seb has to say.)

More people... This was just getting better and better... Ki doesn't do too well with a mass number of people. This is why he normally works alone and travels alone. Not to mention his profession deals with spirits and mushi, not people. The otter on his shoulder looked around, sniffing the air everyone so often as Ki crossed his arms and listened to the one that greeted them. One of the young lads named Jesse spoke, to which Adrick followed afterward. He rambled about some insignia on their hands.

The mushi master took a quick glance at his hand, noticing the marking and staring at it for a moment. He didn't like that this marking appeared out of nowhere. All his life he never once had seen this marking appear on his hand. However, he has seen this marking before, on walls deep within old temples and caves. But he did know the temple he entered that cursed him with this spirit in his eye did not have this strange marking on it. Which could only mean he contradicted this marking before he ventured into the Kekkashi Temple.

Either way, Ki had nothing to say at the moment. He just eyed those that greeted them and listened, waiting to see where this hold ordeal will take them. Even if he did ask the questions swimming around his head, they wouldn't even know what he was talking about to begin with. His questions were about the spirits and mushis around these parts, and why did they start taking different forms and mutating. Nonetheless, Ki would just wait and pay attention.
*adding Theodore's post back in* Theodore, letting us know that Seb invited you in would of been wise. Please remember to do so when joining in an rp via pm.

Cerno Miana stood atop a nearby hill overlooking the city. Looks like I got here after the soldiers. There's no way he'd still be here with all this going on. He tells me to kill someone, then sends an army in to scare him away. I hope he didn't have time to find what he was looking for. Cerno sighed then began to run into the city. His knife floated out of its sheath and into his hand. I doubt it, but I may be able to find him. He jumped onto the roof of a building and began running while looking for the telltale robe. He saw some soldier ransacking an open shop and stopped to watch. A soldier turned around and saw Cerno. He drew a crossbow. "Stop, you are under arrest." Cerno chuckled, "You think that can stop me, besides I'm on your side." "Prove it", came the response. Cerno jumped off the roof and drew a piece of parchment. He read, "Cerno Miana. Assassin, first class. Full jurisdiction." He showed the soldier the seal of the Grave Keeper. "Now then, you can stop tearing apart this house, there's nobody in there. They left the shop window open."

Cerno picked up a hair from the ground outside. He was here. He looked at the ground for any footprints. He saw the target's as well as four others. No! He found them! I must find him. Cerno began to follw the footprints. One of the soldiers asked, "Should one of us come?" Cerno just ignored the remark and continued tracking. He may be light on his feet, but the other four aren't. After a rather confusing path, he reached a dead end. Magic walls, I've encountered more resistance from my own soldiers. He stood in front of the wall and it began to leak darkness like ink in water. It suddenly blasted inwards and many bricks shattered. Cerno entered the tunnel and began to walk. "I'm coming for you old man, and your four "heroes" as well."

Sequoia thought for a moment about Jesse's questions, scratching his beard thoughtfully and gazing at the four people in front of him. He sat down and turned to the rest of the people in the room.

"Clear out of here, this is a private matter." Sequoia commanded, his voice was full of authority and the rebels didn't have to be told twice. They filed out; muttering among themselves about what it was that Sequoia might have to talk to them about. As the door closed shut and locked Sequoia turned back to the group.

"So will you answer my questions now?" Jesse asked him, his face was full of curiosity and he wanted all of his questions answered. He shifted his weight onto his other foot and played with the hilt of his longsword.

"Yes. I'll start with Adrick's question." Sequoia began. He pulled one of his gauntlets off and revealed the mark on his own hand. "I am the only one of them that has this mark." He explained before putting his glove back on. "It is the mark of the Scarlet Bloodline. It can be awakened when the destiny of someone who is of Scarlet descent has become intertwined with your own. Seeing as the five of us share it, one of you is likely a descendant of King Scarlet." Sequoia turned to look at Jesse now, examining him closely.

"But that still doesn't explain why the four of us were chosen nor does it explain how we all ended up in the same place." Jesse was growing impatient now and Sequoia couldn't help but chuckle.

"All in due time my friend." He stood again and moved toward the group. He tossed a key to Brendan who had been silent. "This is a key to the armory. You may go there and take what you like. An attendant will lead you there. Adrick go with him. Jesse and Ki, come with me for a moment." Sequoia opened the door and disappeared behind it. Jesse followed quickly after him; he wanted answers!

The old man who had lead the four heroes out of the city and into the forest stood in the catacomb. He gripped his staff tightly, magic pulsing through his body. His magic wall had been compromised and he felt it the second that Cerno got through it. He would be the only thing stopping whoever had breached their defenses from killing the chosen four.

Soon he could see a white coloured fox walking blindly through the tunnel. The old man laughed as he charged magical energy and prepared for battle. He stepped out in front of him; coughing and clutching his staff tightly.

"Hello there young fox." He spoke clear this time, his voice was not gravelly or deep but sharp and powerful. He could see the evil in him and didn't waste any time. "This will be your resting place!" The old man fired a blast of magic at the fox quickly.

"Oh... thank you, sir," Brendan said as he caught the key. "Come on, Adrick." The boy then awaited for the attendant. The entire explanation offered by Sequoia had offered some insight into the situation, but it brought up more questions than answers, sadly. The young merchant couldn't help but continue to wonder what else was in store. Of course, it almost didn't matter as long as he had the chance to become the sort of warrior his people needed right now. He wasn't sure if he was very close-minded or what, but he knew this was his only concern at the moment.

(As I stated before. It would be been wise to let us know that Seb allowed you in. How are we suppose to know that Seb added you to the list unless you have stated it in the first place? I admit deleting your post was a bit rash. Either way, it is my job to ensure that all rps are not being interrupted by new members(or any member) randomly joining in when they aren't suppose to. I was simply telling you that letting those involved in the rp know your in this would of been better. I had to deal with situations like this where people just joined and didn't ask. Apologize for jumping the gun, to which I'm guessing you didn't get my apologizing pm I take. Anyways, we're cluttering Seb's rp. I've already reinstalled your post so continue with the rp, and if you have any other concerns about this ordeal then pm me directly.)

(Yes, I'm sorry about that, I should have mentioned it in the post.)

Cerno saw his target. There he is. My target. The old man began talking but Cerno didn't listen. He began to take control of the stones in the walls. It seemed the old man stopped talking, but now he was casting a spell. He pulled several stones out of the walls and used them to block the bolt. The stones immediately exploded into a shower of dust. Cerno pulled several more stones out of the walls and had them float in front of him, leaking darkness. He pointed at the old man, "The Grave Keeper has requested your death, so your life ends now. If you surrender now your death will be relatively painless." He launched five of the stones at the old man in quick succession.

The old man deflected each of the stones with his staff, sending them smashing into walls and the floor. The stones around them began to crumble as the old man summoned more magical energy. It flowed around him, his whole body lighting up while he prepared.

'Got to hold him here... any way I can..' The old man spun his staff clockwise; spinning it faster and faster until it was just a blur in his hands. The old man gathered magic in the spinning staff and dug his heels into the ground beneath him.

"Magical Cannon!" The old man yelled as a huge blast of energy fired from his staff. It went right past Cerno and smashed into a wall. The catacombs around them began to rumble and rubble began to fall from the ceiling. The tunnel was caving in, just as the old man had planned. He sprinted forward, using all of his strength he swung his staff toward the fox. A large boulder fell and blocked the way forward to reach the resistance's base.

((Edited to mention armor))

The attendant for Brendan and Adrick beckoned to them, so Adrick followed the two to the armory, down a few hallways and finally arrived. When Brendan unlocked the door Adrick took a step inside; the armory was dark and dry and not too large. There were a few shelves with various weapons, some swords on the walls and a few large chests underneath the shelves.

Adrick gleamed over the walls and shelves, looking at the weapons. He was never a fighter himself, he had never had formal training in anything, but something had caught his eye. He pulled a small firearm off the shelf and looked over it, marveling over the craftsmanship. The thing was metallic and had intricate designs somehow pressed into the metal, lines glowing and pulsing with something arcane, but Adrick himself had no knowledge of magic, he just looked over the thing in some kind of awe.

He looked over towards leather armor on the wall and then at his own armor. His were different from the resistance's armor, made to be more flexible and to be more stealthy. He had to wonder why his parents had armor like that in the storeroom, but decided to put that out of his mind. The storeroom was probably burned to the ground by now.

"Uh.. I'm ready to leave when you are, Brendan..." He said, leaning against the wall by the door, enthralled and distracted by his new weapon.

Cerno raised his free arm to block the wooden staff and his arm broke from the blow. I've felt worse. He took his knife and thrust it into the man's stomach. Cerno leaned in close and hissed in the old man's ear, "I was told to kill you, and I care not where this tunnel leads. At least, I didn't, until you decided to bring this tunnel down, but now you've piqued my curiosity. I'll tell the Grave Keeper about this and see what he thinks. My mission is complete." He pulled the blade from the man's stomach, dropped him on the ground, and left the old man to die. He left the tunnel and it collapsed behind him. Now to contact my master.

Ki was chosen to follow this guy along with Jesse. Above all people why did he have to choose Ki? In any case, the mushi master didn't even nod his head and simply followed. What else could he say, no? His only thoughts were about the spirits and the mushi. In all honesty, he cared not for this kingdom. Yet, he cared about everyone's safety, or at least, cared enough to know that mushi and humans should co-exist without any trouble, which at the moment that wasn't happening. In any case, Ki remained silent as he waited to see what waited for him and Jesse. Another odd thing that crossed his mind. Why was he now 'pared-up' with this young lad? Ki is not a people person, this should of been known by unwelcoming and always serious expression. However, the otter on his shoulder would say other wise... Maybe, maybe not. The little furry creature was cute, but looks can be deceiving.

Jesse and Ki followed Sequoia into a private room where there was three chairs and nothing else. The room was grey and empty all the way through. Sequoia sat in a chair and looked at the two he had brought here who stood awkwardly, waiting for Sequoia to say something. Sequoia cleared his throat before gesturing to the two seats and beginning to speak.

"Well I wanted to talk to the two of you separately because I believe the two of you have a large role to play in all of this." He explained as he continued to sit in the chair. Jesse sat down and looked at Sequoia, listening intently and with much interest. "Jesse, I can see it in your eyes and face, you are a descendant of King Scarlet. There's no doubt in my mind about this.." Sequoia explained, bowing his head slightly in respect.

"What?! Me?! No way I'm just a farm boy! There's no way I have royal blood..." Jesse thought about it. His parents had never had very much money; he had lived on his farm for his entire life. He had never been treated like royalty but he supposed that it was possible as King Scarlet had been defeated seven hundred years ago.

"Well you do. Now we can deal with that later. Ki, I see that you already have abilities and you're probably already somewhat prepared for something like this, correct?" Sequoia didn't wait for him to reply. "But there is magic that I must teach you. The reason I am teaching the two of you separately from the other two is because of your magic types. Ki I am unsure of yours, your other abilities seem to be blocking it but Jesse your type appears to be Electric." Sequoia put out his hand and a ball of magical energy formed in it.

"Whoah how did you do that?!" Jesse exclaimed. He was aware of magic but besides the old man who had moved the walls, he had never seen any magic before.

"You can do it too." Sequoia explained. He began to teach Jesse and Ki of how to harness these magic powers that they had been granted with. Jesse listened intently and after a half an hour had passed, he was even trying it himself. Soon he was able to form small balls of magical energy in his hand.

"Now head to the armory to meet with your friends and then report back to the room we met in for briefing. We're hoping to start the four of you on your journey right away." He explained before heading off. Jesse looked at Ki curiously, wondering what other abilities he might have that Sequoia was talking about.

He went to the armory, finding some medium weight armor made of leather armor and lizard scale. He picked up a broadsword and grinned. He wielded the broadsword in his right hand and his longsword in his left. All that farm work had made him a strong young man and he felt like wielding the two weapons would work out well for him. By the time he reached the entrance, the others were already there.

____________________________

The old man laughed loudly as the assassin turned to leave. He mustered the last of his strength and fired a bolt of magic at the back of the assassin. The bolt was designed to leave a nasty, scarring gash on whoever it hit. It collided with his back as he was leaving and the old man grinned. That would leave a nice scar. He laid down, blood pouring out of his stomach wound. He couldn't help but smile a little as his consciousness faded.

"At least... I was able... to set things... into motion..." He coughed blood and his life began to flash before his eyes. He was eight hundred and sixty three years old and had lived quite a fulfilling life. He had been the wizard of kings, seen an entire kingdom fall, the rise of an empire and even set things into motion to end a the reign of a tyrant. "Good luck... young heroes..." The old man spoke with his dying breath.

Ki simply listened. He knew he was brought in here for something, however, he didn't know it had to do with his ability, or rather, his cruse. Sequoia mentioned, more like hinted, towards Ki's spirit eye and his Kekkashi ability. Sequoia was right, however. The spirit in his eye would be the cause of Sequoia not being to tell what other abilities Ki had. The fact that the spirit in his eye and his Kekkashi ability is one in the same can throw off someone who reads abilities. Either way, Ki simply watched and said nothing as Jesse seemed to be so 'wowed' by Sequoia's little trick. The things Ki sees normally, which is mushi and some spirits, makes Ki a more calm and unimpressed fellow whenever magic is brought up. The thing is, not everyone can see mushi. Its rare for a person to see mushi. Which brings Ki back to his concern. The mushi are mutating and making themselves known, which is never a good thing.

After watching the boy test around with Sequoia Ki still didn't talk or motion towards any movement at all. He eyed the boy as he passed, waiting for Jesse to leave so Ki can show Sequoia the horrors of his spirit.

"I didn't want the boy seeing my eye, or what it does." Ki told Sequoia as he closed his good eye and started to take off his eye patch. Once it was removed he opened his now uncovered eye. A black substance covered his entire eye, yet it moved around and swirled like a liquid.

"Right now, I see nothing. My good eye is closed and my current eye that is open is possessed by a spirit. Before I show you what my eye does, I'll show you my first ability." Ki tells Sequoia as he pointed his index and middle finger at the ground below Sequoia. Ki's disks around his wrist, which have flatten and are hiding under the sleeves of his shirt, started to glow. Soon, his hand starts to glow as he opened his good eye and focused on the spot beneath Sequoia.

"Kes..." Ki spoke and he motioned his two fingers upward. Suddenly a blue see through box-shaped-barrier formed under Sequoia and lifted him off the ground. The barrier wobbled a bit before stabilizing, as if Ki had to get use to Sequoia's weight before making the barrier sturdy.

"Mes..." Ki spoke again, to which the barrier shatters and would leave Sequoia dropping to the ground, which he wasn't that high off the ground to begin with.

"Its called Kekkashi, the art of forming spirit barriers to encase spirits. Once encased with the spirit barrier, and I force it to close, whatever is in it will turn into spirit particles. The spirit particles then travel into my cursed eye and feed the spirit within my eye... The more I use my Kekkashi ability, the more I need to feed the spirit in my eye, before it takes my life. The spirit in my eye will feed off of me if I don't keep it satisfied. I've managed to control the spirit to the point where it is not hungry all the time, but graves spirits whenever I use my Kekkashi for a long period of time. Forming a simple barrier once wont make it hungry. Forming several simple barriers at the same time will however." Ki paused as he gave his speech, closing his good eye again as he was about to display what his spirit eye does and how its used.

"Excuse the mess..." Ki tells Sequoia as he closed both eyes. Ki started to concentrate, which seemed to bring him pain the more he did so. Within a few moments, Ki suddenly gasped in pain as a popping sound came from his eye. He quickly placed his hand over his cursed eye as what seemed to be blood oozed from his eye. Ki wiped the red substance away and opened his cursed eye. His eye now looked to be that of an evil dark red eye. It pulsated as Ki looked around, panting a bit as he focused his eye upon Sequoia.

"I can see your soul... I can see everyone's soul. I can see Jesse picking up his weapons. Adrick and Brendan, I also see their souls... Its said that if I master this spirit in my eye, I'll be able to see the lifespan of each soul." He tells Sequoia as he continued to look around, hoping to pick up a spirit's scent who he can consume it. After all, this display was costing him.

"I can see..." It was at that moment that Ki saw the old man's soul vanish from sight as another soul running away. The soul soon became out of reach for Ki's eye to see. He kept his focus on where the old man's soul was. It was a bit of a ways from his current location, but he knew what he saw. The old man's soul is gone, which means that he was killed to somehow stepped out of reach of Ki's spirit eye.

"A soul has vanished... Someone has died near the tunnels." Ki spoke to Sequoia as he continued to look in that direction, as if hoping the old man's soul would appear. However, nothing happened, which caused Ki worry. Suddenly he yelped and placed his hand over his spirit eye as the black substance started to form around his eye again. This was slightly painful, to which Ki forgot for a moment that his spirit eye can only be activated for a short period of time. He gasped and pants a bit more as he opened his good eye while putting back on his eye patch. The eye patch soothed the pain as the black substance rapidly formed around his covered eye once again. Ki remained hunched over a moment, still in a bit of pain as he started to stand up. He said nothing else as he looked upon Sequoia, waiting to hear what he had to say.

Cerno had felt the bolt of magic hit his back, but it didn't kill him, so he didn't care at the moment. He tracked down one of the Grave Keeper's heralds and gave him a message. "Tell this to the Grave Keeper, word for word. 'My mission is complete, and the target is confirmed as dead. I have suspicions, as, when the target could have killed of mortally wounded me, he decided to cause a cave-in, obviously protecting what exists at the end of the tunnel. If I have you're permission, I, as well as several soldiers, would wish to investigate said tunnel, as to see where it leads. Send a response to the city tower. I shall wait.' Tell him the message is from Cerno Miana and give him this." Cerno pulled a coin out of an inner pocket of his cloak and handed it to the herald. The herald ran off to deliver the message and Cerno walked to the city tower and went inside. he locked the doors shut and went over it to ensure that the was nobody inside. Once that was done he went to the top and removed his cloak. He looked over his shoulder, at his back. There was a horrid scar covering up another horrid scar. Cerno sighed. Another scar to the collection. That's what I get for getting missions to kill wizards. They all want to get the last blow in, and they all know that spell. I'll have to stretch this one out now too. He lied down and began to do various stretches.

[insert something cheerful here]

Brendan looked around the armory, hopelessly lost inside. He didn't have the slightest idea on how armors work or anything of the kind; he had never needed to deal with that sort of thing due to his pacific personality. At most, he sold some metals and ores to blacksmiths and other people working in similar trades, but that was about it.

He sighed and scratched his head, looking around until he finally came across a crimson-colored clothing with black and gold-colored adornments. It resembled a royal navy uniform in appearance, and it was even made from a fine cloth, though this confused him. He had never seen an armor made of anything other than leather, metal or ore.

Not wanting to keep Adrick or anyone else any longer than he already had, he quickly pulled out a magnifying glass from underneath his tunic and inspected the threads; they were lined with magical minerals and charms. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped ever so slightly. In his few years as a merchant, he had managed to see many materials with magic properties, mainly due to the fact that he had been raised by the shop's previous owner, a very wise woman with extensive knowledge in grade A trade materials. However, he didn't believe either the late woman nor himself had ever seen such rich, magnificent substances.

Without wasting a minute more, he changed into the magical garments. Soon enough, he felt empowered.
