First it was an almost attack on Denmark, then in Sweden. It was obvious Norway was next. Of course nothing has been certainly confirmed whether it's Al-Kaida behind this, but from the look of things, I'd say it's pretty obvious. Like serious, I've seen stuff like this out off country, but never as close like this. I even heard the explosion, only a few miles away people felt the shock-wave. So you can imagine it's been quiet in the store today. All of our customers have probably been at home looking on the news all day. or at least from the time the incident occurred. Also heard there was a gun episode on that neighbouring island just across from where I live. Ten people got killed by a fake clothed officer. Seriously I can almost understand those who actually have to live with this each day now. Scary though as Norway has been quite peaceful, no wonder I've never made much of a hype mentioning it before. Edited by DragonFlame, Jul 22 2011, 01:07 PM.

Fwiss, Al-Qaeda is bringing all nations into the fold.. they are a FANATIC faction, everyone who doesn't go along with their ideals is a target, that is their only motive, and I figure they are going after these nations ONLY because they are "soft targets" more lightly defended and regulated than bigger nations around them, and they are decently close in proximity as opposed to,say, the USA. They only had enough money for one BIG SPLASH terrorist attack and that came on September 11th.. but now they are getting more bold in guerrilla attacking European nations. The sad truth though is that a War against a faction that can operate anywhere at anytime is nearly impossible to wage, I mean, the USA had to break SO MANY international laws just to ensure that Osama Bin Laden would be killed, and while it made us feel good, it only led to a change of leadership (even if the new leader lacks charisma and is Egyptian, which is a bad thing in these factions) and it pissed off Pakistan for a little while before they realized that they better go with the flow or be put on United Nations Trial under suspicion of harboring an international criminal.. but they paid for it by getting struck by terrorist bombs themselves. This is honestly not an enemy I can see us beating with guns and aggression, at least not soon.. You defeat a fanatic faction by cutting off its source of newcomers and do what we NEEDED to do in that region after the Cold War, and that is help build a proper education system, schools and universities.. because right now the only education most of the youth in the Middle East have is their religion, and religion with no education means you are going to get fanatics... These ME nations fear the Western and European powers because they don't know what's different out there, and when we just come into their land to do what we please.. it will scare lots of them.. You need a subtle touch, it in and of itself will take time, but if you show respect to them, and help build them up the same way the USA helped build Germany and Japan back up after WW2 you can at least curb the stream of people jumping at the gun to sign into these factions. Cut the supply and they will slowly die. Besides, it's a lot cheaper to help build some roads, schools, and hospitals than it is to wage war for another decade or more.. since war every year costs us hundreds of millions if not billions. The only catch is that it has to be a joint effort.. we may not like it (I really don't) but we have to turn a blind eye to the terrorists and as a joint effort by western and European nations.. build for them and give them an ACTUAL structure worth speaking of. The factions will always exist, but they will only become so small that they will be nothing worth noting in the future. As a world, we can make the whole region happier and kill what tries so hard to kill us in the name of fear.. the fear they wish to cause and the fear they have of us. They want to be properly recognized. Edited by Bowie, Jul 22 2011, 03:48 PM.

Again, you can relate them to the KKK in terms of hierarchy and leadership. But naw, I was really just asking who did this. Did Al-Qaeda say they did it? I was thinking for a second there was some kind of instability in Europe that I somehow didn't know about. Oh well. |

TIME TO REALLY EXPLODE!
|
As of now, the suspect is caught: a white, Norweigan male. His motive and religion are unknown, but it's looking like he orchestrated the whole thing by himself, at the moment. It's easy for Al-Qaeda to be the go-to group for blame though. Edit:Looks like a 32 year old farmer who is a member of right-wing extremist groups. Glad you're okay though, DF. Yeah it's not Al Qaeda.. apparently the guy shot a bunch of kids earlier and was linked to the bomb. Some people were linking the bomb initially to a suspected Al Qaeda member who was scheduled to be deported, but this guy has know known links to any terrorist organization originating out of the Middle East. |

Well last news is that there are 91 deaths, mostly at the shooting incident just on that island south of Oslo. Horrible, I even heard a young girl had managed to hide beneath a rock, exactly below where this madman stood, firing all people in the vicinity. I doubt I'd like to share her vision. Was mentioned there were only 10 last night, but numbers increased greatly during tonight. Now the thing is. Why don't we have a death sentence over here in Norway, as clearly this guy deserves it. Yet it won't do, to those who've lost someone they cared for. Thing is, why the hell would he do such? Sure maybe he hate the politics, but serious there's a lot of innocents involved here. Taken from Norwegian news source.

Get this. Apparently the shooter, Anders Behring Breivik, was sold six tons of fertilizer from a farm supply company. Brevik supposedly ran a farming company, but come on! It doesn't take a genius to figure out that he might've had a hand in the bombing. Fertilizer was used to make the bomb that took out the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in 1995. In fact, I'd just about wager that the bomb was meant to tie the police up. It took an hour and a half for an armed response to be mounted because resources were stretched. |

I think it's horrible, of course. I just couldn't stand to look at some of the horrible pictures... Ugh. I'm glad you're alright, DF. I hate how blowing people up is now a common way to make a point. |

Terrorists.. both from afar and home grown are doing what they're doing to send a message.. it doesn't matter if they're factions like Al Qaeda or the Irish Republican Army, or a single man.. like in this incident or with Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma.. they're all wanting to make a statement at the cost of many lives for which they don't care for.. to them it's all merely collateral damage. |

FOX likes to spin things no matter what, they are a "shock" news entity that sometimes don't even use actual facts in their broadcasting.. they're just a political outfit, that's all.. I don't treat them as legitimate news. |
