Murphy's team is set to revive a concept that originated under Turner's watch. Captain Planet and the Planeteers premiered in 1990 as the first environmental animated series on the small screen. The six-season series centered on a band of young people who combine their special powers to summon eco-hero Captain Planet to battle the world's eco-villains. "With the earthquakes, tornadoes, melting icebergs and all the other problems threatening the world right now, Earth really needs her greatest defender," said Montford. Added Murphy, "We are extremely excited about bringing the good Captain back to life. His adventures are known worldwide and he is recognized across generations. We expect to make a spectacular series of films with the amazing team at Cartoon Network." In live-action? Ohhhh dear... On one hand, I'm kinda looking forward to seeing how they pull it off, but on the other hand... well, Captain Planet was pretty hammy, and I just don't see it as being something you can take seriously... So will it turn out like the GI Joe movie (being fairly good) or the Masters of the Universe movie (being utter tripe)? Hmm...

Laughing at this movie but crying about it ruining my childhood. Sure this show wasn't the best but it still taught me a little of what I know about the environment! GO CAPTAIN PLANET!

I still can't use this. Posts: 6,546 Group: Former Monarchs Member #6,722 Joined: March 16, 2008	First, this sounds like a made-for-TV movie and not a theatrical release considering the companies involved, thus blaming Hollywood at this point is unnecessary. Second, the original source material wasn't all that great either, so low expectations seem very fitting anyways. I see no reason for outrage.
