She's used to getting yelled at when she screws up. Dash was the only one that didnt until now.

Claire drifted off into sleep. by that time, it had started to get dark out. Claire guessed it was probably about six thirty.

Dash tried to stay awake but he couldnt anymore. He fell asleep in the chair about thirty minutes later.

the next morning, Claire woke up at about 12:30. she was able to open her eyes, even though everything seemed bright. a whole half-day of not seeing anything could do that to you. she looked over at Dash. Dash looked lighter. everything seemed bright. "Dash? morning..." she greeted, still feeble.

 Dash had been awake since 6 in the morning. He was fully awake and joyed to see Claire was too.

"Claire! Do you feel any better?" Dash asked, jumping up and rushing to her bedside.

"as you can tell... I can see..." she said, smiling. "but... everything seems, so... bright..." she closed her eyes. the brightness was getting to her. "I'm not hurting... all over... anymore... just... shoulder and... wing..." the only reason she was weak while speaking was because of her wing. her wing was attached to her back, which was attached to her stomach, so she didn't feel right. her wing felt very heavy, and so did her stomach. "but yeah... other than that... I'm fine." she stopped smiling when she opened her eyes. this was the first time she had noticed his wound. "what happened...? did he... shoot you...?" she asked, worried.

(sorry, I gotta get off the computer, dad says. I'll see you tomorrow!)

(alright, I'm back!)

"yeah." she sighed. the chipmunk that had been sleeping under the covers woke up, sniffed his nose, and jumped up onto Claire's chest. Claire blinked. "I haven't... named you... yet have... I?" she smiled as the tiny chipmunk sniffed his nose and glanced at her curiously. "Pepper... I'll name... you, Pepper..." she grinned. he definitely looked like a Pepper. he had lots of little black speckles all over his back and head, and even a few light brown speckles on his white tummy. the chipmunk snuggled under her neck, and went to sleep that way. she went back to sleep, too, with his warmth on her neck.
