Background

((Just to be clear: the magic to be used must be from Final Fantasy or anything related to it. Equipment, items and summons (the gods' servants) can either be made up or taken from the games as well. The characters, however, have to be yours, and they can be from either faction.))

Flying Battery Act 1
When I was summoned to the briefing room and learned that I (with my newly-bound familiar) had been positioned on the front row, I was overjoyed. It was finally a chance to see action, to teach those leg-men a lesson or three, and finally start commanding some real respect.
The battle itself was a straight assault on one of their domed cities, like we'd been taught in training for years. It actually turned out to be pretty much exactly what I expected, which was a credit to the simulators. We were met with an average level of resistance which we practically steamrolled, and then it was a simple task of shattering the dome sustaining it and bringing down the rest of the city. My first battle was an absolute success, and that was one more area reclaimed in the name of the Acera.

Of course, nothing goes perfectly, for the very next thing I did was wake up. I just laid in bed for a while before realising what day it was, upon which I promptly jumped out. It was the day that I was to complete my training and finally obtain the familiar I'd needed to officially join the army this whole time~ That was about the part where I was yelled at by everyone else... for having woken the aforementioned everyone else up. But in any case, as I went through my daily routine I began to become more and more nervous. I mean, what if I failed? What if I couldn't summon a familiar? By the end of the morning I was incredibly worried, but I (of course) still lined up with the rest of the recruits. Due in part to them still being annoyed at me, I was first in line. So I stood there, saluted my superiors, and then when they called for Odani Lorn, I stepped forward and entered the Chamber.

((Just for the record, I have two characters: someone from the Acera and a human. |3 I'll start with the former while we wait and see what Chaos-san does for the moment.))

"Today's the day!" announced an individual. He moved from one side to another with an erect back. Scars adorned his hardened physique as he looked anxious and burdened; years of this sort of life can make one feel like that, constantly with the premonition that they're about to fight for their life, and worse still, having to see their premonition become a reality almost every waking moment.

"Right about now, the new cadets must be lined up to enter the chamber one by one to face our lordships' servants and see if they have what it takes to command them," he speaks. "So I believe it is needless to say that we'll be having a few new faces very, very soon."

The half-fish people gathered before him began murmuring amongst themselves before keeping quiet once again.

"As usual, we have no time to sort out any sort of training here, seeing as we are the first line of defense against the humans," the leader of the warriors adds, "as such, I'll be assigning some of you to take up these cadets as their apprentices; teach them the ropes and make sure that they train well enough to catch up to yourselves."

"Who will be chosen this time around?" one asks.

"I will announce who will be in charge of our new recruits once said recruits arrive, until then, prepare yourselves for any kind of encounter we may be faced with soon."

As soon as he swam away and left them be, all of the warriors scattered, taking up different arms to train with. One of them, a female warrior, swam up by herself.

Closing her eyes, she placed her hands together, and prayed, "May Lord Potenti lend the hands of the Vitus to my cause. I summon thee, Vitus Odo."

A stream of magic surged all around her. A seal of sorts made of energy formed beneath her and vanished, only for a beast to reveal itself. A lavender, serpentine creature appeared. Its long, slender body had six large fore-flippers; on top of its head, two antennae that stretched almost as long as its body. Its irises were a fiery golden and its mouth split into four sections.

"Trouble, Kardica?" the beast asked calmly.

"You could say so..." she answered.

((Potenti is the god of strength or might... something like that. And yes it was made up.))

((Five school assignments + mid-year exams coming up. I'll get to this when I get some actual time to spare, but until then no promises. Rest assured that I haven't forgotten about this, though))

Flying Battery Act 1
((Well, mid-year exams are finally over, and I did promise, so...))
As I stepped into the Chamber, a wave of peace washed over me and my anxiety dissipated. I slowly moved to the centre of the room, and I could feel the presence of the gods with me. Would this mean I would be able to succeed? I kneeled down slightly and started to pray, hoping that someone, anyone would be receptive to my plea for a servant to call my own.
It was at that moment I felt a nudge against my back. It wasn't exactly painful, but it was enough to grab my attention. I stood up quickly and turned around to see some sort of giant bird. I was suddenly overtaken by both exhilaration at my success and fear at the chance that it was hostile. But it showed impassive towards my presence. It only stared at me, and I stared back at it. We held our gaze for what felt like an endless period of time, but it eventually broke its glare and stepped forward. It seemed to be friendly enough, so I stepped up to it and touched it gently. A powerful glow spontaneously began to emnate from the point of contact, and the servant began to fade away slowly. I tried to pull my hand away, but my entire body seemed paralysed. Finally it vanished entirely and I became free to move again. One word pervaded my mind: "Valefor."
That was how I knew I had succeeded. I exited the Chamber in triumph and gradually observed the others file in, one by one. It was easy to tell who else had achieved their goals, as their faces showed elation to the dejectedness of those that had failed. Only about 30% of our group had actually managed to do so, which surprised me greatly. However, I was far too curious and excited for the mystery of what was to come next to really care about the others.

((Welcome back. ^.^))

"Then speak to me about it," said the monster to the Acera. "What troubles you, my lady?"

"The new recruits," Kardica answered, "will they be ready to take on the Humans, or will they full to their devilish cunning?"

"Mistress, if I may," the creature spoke. "We do not side with weak spirits; never. That is why each of us judge you to the best of our abilities.

"If you recall correctly," he continued, "I fought you in a duel to the death as my way to test you; it was the best and only way I could ever be assured of your worth. My brethren and those of the other holy lords may not share my idea of judgment, but they still have those of their own. They will only choose those who are right."

"As long as they keep up and do their duty, I will not complain," answered the Acera.
