【The Knight of Tigers 】

“Well then,” Realta said, “As soon as you two are removed from the equation, we’ll be taking the Lantern and leaving, so let’s get this over with.”

With a single fluid motion, he drew his weapon. The slim, katana-like sword was about as long as one would expect from a short sword rather than a knife, but he nevertheless wielded it in a reverse grip, the blade extending a few inches past his elbow. Rather than stabbing, like a dagger, or cleaving, like the sword Crusader carried, this ‘kodachi’ was designed to slice at arteries and tendons, to quickly sweep through the softest parts of human flesh before the laws of physics could catch up, slaying the target without them even feeling it.

“Show me that determination of yours, Crusader.”

His forward rush carried him low to the ground, like a shadow flowing across the floor. Acting on instinct alone, Crusader detached the scabbard from his belt and blocked the first strike with the still-sheathed sword, narrowly avoiding the knife’s deadly swing towards his neck. He pushed back against it and swung at Realta’s waist, missing as his opponent hopped back out of his range.

“You made a big mistake, cornering us,” he said, resetting his stance, “My specialty is eleventh hour breakthrough tactics. Some third-class knife nut like you couldn’t stop me in a hundred years. I’ll shatter that flimsy blade of yours!” With that, he charged forward, raising his sword over one shoulder and bringing it down towards Realta in a swift, diagonal arc. With that much momentum behind such a heavy blade, his opponent’s slim weapon would be broken in an instant-

CLANG!

“... Huh?”

The kodachi held. Against all odds, this fragile-looking weapon managed to flawlessly halt a sword capable of splitting a man in two.

“Don’t presume too little of a fellow magesmith, Claru,” Realta grinned, “The difference between us is skill, not forging technique.”

Liz laughed, a laugh that practically oozed with maliciousness. "You say you're on a schedule? Well what a coincedience, so am I?" She lifted her falchion so the point was aligned with her should. "Shall we have at it?" Without waiting for an answer, the blonde swung her sword at Blaire, aiming to lop off her head with the first blow.

The cryokinetic ducked underneath the blade and came back with her own saber. She flashed a smirk at a bewildered Liz and a trail of ice crept up her blade, before moving to Liz's. The electrokinetic snapped out of her trance long enough to release her falcion from above Blaire's saber, only for the ice to continue crawing up.

"Oh shoot!" she cried, dropping her sword in hopes that the ice would not start slithering across the floor. When it didn't, Liz breathed a sigh of relief.

Momentarily distracted, the blonde didn't have time to see a curved blade coming at her...
