Hey everybody who cares to listen. I've got an idea for an Rp, but there are some kinks to work out. First, I'll introduce the Rp. The main plot of the Rp is based on the capture of two escaped, supposedly insane, criminal twins by the names of Valerie and Valkerie. They believed themselves to possess magical abilities, and were listed as a danger to society. Nobody is sure of the conditions for their arrest, but that seemed to be no problem. On their first day of incarceration, they escaped, and were seen headed east over the ocean. The next day, two impossibly tall towers appeared in the middle of the pacific. Authorities tried to reach the towers, but all officers were lost in the attempt. All sailing vessels were ordered to steer clear of the site, but that doesn't mean that they chose the right men to guard the area. This is where the players come in. A bounty of $1,000,000 was placed upon the twin criminals' heads. The players may arrive for this reason, or any others that they may think of. I'll even except coming upon it by accident. The beginning plot of the Rp is to reach the top of one of the two towers, and attempt to capture one of the twins. Now for the kinks. For starters, how high am I going to make the towers? 50? 100? I want to make this seem impossibly high, but I don't want to make too many in case the Rp goes stale. Second, there comes the inside of the towers. I want to make it difficult so that the players don't have an easy time getting to the top. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to put in them. Should I use monsters? Traps? Riddles? If there's anything else you notice, let me know. |

Ok...it sounds good. I think I'll recommend that you use a combo of monsters and traps. Whatever floats your boat on that. Now for the height, i suggest that you do this: 1.) Make it 50. It's a good round number, and if other people want a challenge, then make it 100. 2.) offer a decision on what path to take. Make alternate routes between going 1 floor at a time, or bypassing 5 floors at once. No more than 5. Hope this helps. If you like, go ahead and play off of these, unless you have better ideas (no offense) |

Not offended at all, Kunai. It's probably a good idea to make different choices for the floors. Even so, I can't allow characters to bypass the floors. That would make it too easy. Also, 50 sounds good. I'll change the floor level if it's necessary. To everybody: anything else? |

Sounds interesting. If the twins new magic how about a morph changing tower. You could say that the tower adds levels has you finish them, that way if things start to get stale you can say that they hit the top. Where's the character sheet? |

How about if each floor is like a maze? You could have the players start out at different points in the first floor's maze. Each maze would have a trap to make it challenging, like say, one maze floods if you don't make it out on time, another one has spiked walls that will try to close up on you in dead ends, one could have monsters lost in it, there could be a maze where some turns and dead ends are illusions or mirages, etc, etc. As for how high, I'd have to ask how hard and long do you intend each floor to be. I mean, if each floor is huge and takes a LOT of effort to get through, you might want to go with 10 floors, just to keep the RP moving without drawing it out forever. If you can get out of the floors quite quickly, then you might as well make it like 25-50 levels or so. As to the reason the players would have for making it there, I think that may as well be up to each player. Maybe their character's a bounty hunter hired by the government, or maybe they want to give it a go in order to get some money. *shrugs* |

@Gilliam: That's not a bad idea. I could use that to either help some characters or tick them off! Also, I'm holding off making the character sheet until all of the details are worked out. Otherwise, I might leave out something important. @Miracle: That could work too. The floors are going to be one challenge each; it's up to the character whether it's quick or long-lasting. That time limit thing sounds good too, I'll consider it in later floors, as they'll get more challenging the higher you go. |

I like this idea quite a bit. I think the towers' levels being mazes is a good idea, with them riddled with monsters and traps. Here's just a 5-minute lay out I figured would be a nice example and maybe get the creative juices flowing some more. Level 0 - Lobby Everyone meets up here in the beginning. *shrug* Level 1 Small maze. Has a few different exit routes, all with a door locked that must be unlocked by finding a key or solving a riddle. No dangers. Level 2 Slightly larger maze. Players must collect multiple keys to unlock one of two exits. Hazards include bottomless pits with openings of only around 5-10 feet wide and slippery ground so as to make players slide into bottomless pits or spikes. Level 3 'T' shaped level. Players start at the "top" ends of the 'T' and make their way to the "bottom" of the 'T' to the only exit, which is guarded by some sort of monster. Something big but slow, a bit hard to defeat but easily enough dodged by medium speed characters. Maybe a giant bear. Level 4 Large square shaped room cluttered with old junk. Players must find 5 switches and then press them all in a certain order within two hours to open one of three exits. No initial hazards; hazards would instead become more numerous as the switches are pressed in the wrong order. Hazards could include the floor falling out and creating a bottomless pit (or extending one), spiked balls falling out of the ceiling, and dive bombing bats or birds (like those ghosts in Sandopolis if you let it get completely dark). That's all I figured out. Buuuut it makes me like this plot idea even more. If this goes all the way I'll definitely be joining. |

These are all pretty good ideas. With all of this, I'll be able to put up the rp pretty soon. @Shenzi: those floor ideas sound pretty good. Of course, I won't be using them all in that order, except for maybe level 0. I might make some changes to level 5. To everyone else, I also think there might be a few restrictions on certain abilities, so look out. It's just a heads up. |

Perhaps the floors between the two towers could interchange, so one person is on one floor and all of a sudden that floor slides out and a floor from the other tower takes it's place. |
