Motion controls were around Metallix, but they sucked far more nor were they marketed with mass appeal.

But this is different than merely motion controls, however. This is greater interactivity between your controller and the television screen. If I were to turn off the tv while you were playing Battlefield or whatever, you would lose your shits because you are reliant completely on the television screen to see what you're doing. With the WiiU, not a problem-- you can continue playing seamlessly with probably the same graphical output because the video reverts to the display screen on the controller. This type of interactivity extends itself to other possibilities: You can have multiple viewpoints of the same game, opening up the possibilities of different games and genres, or you can use the actual screen to perform in-game functions on the television more easily simply by holding it up.

Dismissing this as "just motion controls" is a complete misunderstanding of what we know so far about the WiiU, and I can only imagine how Nintendo is going to take advantage of this tech with their first-party titles.
Motion controls did not suck far more than the Wii and I already stated they weren't popular which has an implied statement of not being marketed well.

I wasn't calling this merely motion controls, that was referring to the original Wii. As far as the television analogy, when has that ever happened to anyone here? That's such a moot point. Nothing else to say as my opinion on it has already been stated.

In other Nintendo E3 related news, Luigi's Mansion 2 for the 3DS.
Kinda ironic considering the first game was designed to run in 3D.

Oh I loved Luigi's Mansion! I still feel the GameCube was one of their best.

It could happen. Say you want to play WiiU games with your little cousins and the rest of your family is watching football. No problem.

And since this happens so much at my house, then I can relate.

Also, NO SCREEN PEEKING.
i'm actually really sorry bout this

And as for the graphics.. whoopdedoo, in 2-3 years the 360 and PS3 will have successors in line that will blow this console away because they like to be behind the technological curve.
You don't need to come and be a complete ******* about it. I knew somebody was going to come into this thread and exactly say that. Sigh. As for the controller, I am just gonna say the usual and oversaid 'Wait till you try it' thing.

But thank you, Bliz, as here I was starting to think no SB staff member is ever going to be impressed by Ninty's devices. xD

And heh, I never thought of no screen peaking. That would be epic as I'm an offline gamer as well and in games like Pokemon, where nobody would find out that you're switching Pokemon till it actually happens. xD Clever.

And just saw the Sly 4 trailer. All I can is YES. I thought the bit with Dimitri at the end was actually quite funny and I want to see more now. xD I did remember how at the end of Sly 3
Spoiler: click to toggle
So it looks interesting and I'm looking forward to trying this and see how time will come into gameplay.

One thing I hope Sly 4 adds is REPLAY VALUE. I loved the Sly games(I think 2 is still the best) and has everything I ask for in a platformer. Gameplay, story, etc., except one thing. The only thing that holds it in my mind from true greatness is replay value. Otherwise, I might even like it more then Mario. After beating the game, there's almost nothing to do in these big cities and levels, especially in Sly 3. So I really hope Sly 4 can add some replay value, as you can easily get through the short replay value they had in the other games.

EDIT: Actually, wait, I am both skeptical and looking forward to this even more at the same time. The skeptical part is that Sucker Punch is not handling this! D: It seems they really are done with Sly as they didn't even do the HD re-packaging as well. And the story seems a bit ehh despite it continues off of 3 but Sly 3's story was better then what I expected, especially the ending parts, so I just gotta wait and it's probably more deeper then what I think. But the new developers, Sanzaru Games is actually addressing the problem about replayability according to IGN's preview(Who seemed very pleased about the game and loved its artstyle, saying they love how detailed the boss's HP bar was lol) so I just gotta wait and see.

You will find that I'm one of the few staff members here without console-specific allegiances, thus I'm more likely to give credit or facepalms where they're properly due. =P

Speaking of which, I was really excited for Sly 4 as well... and I haven't even played Sly. Same with Rayman: Origins. Rayman just looked like good ol' fashioned platforming shmex. The Tetris cameo sealed it.

It's not Sucker Punch but Sanzaru Games made the HD collection and I think they have studied and know how the games work and should play. I had the HD Collection and beat 1 and got pretty far into 2. I liked 2 better but 1 was great in that it was harder. I agree about the replay value though.

As for Sucker Punch, they may not be doing Sly at the moment but it's good to have companies switch it up and do different things. inFAMOUS is a great series.

True, although I still need to try inFamous unfortunately. xD

Also, I just noticed this in the Zelda HD game, I spot a fairy. Is NAVI making a return possible? o: Oh brother. And the scenery seems a lot similar to perhaps the Temple of Time? There's no way this is a remake though(Especially with Ocarina of Time coming to the 3DS which would make no sense) and I'm dying for new details but knowing Nintendo, they'll probably wait a couple months before revealing anything. ):

And is Luigi's Mansion 2 for the WiiU or the 3DS? IGN just changed what they said earlier so I'm kinda confused.

So you're going to get insulted because I'm just stating what everyone already knows? I may be a fan of my system but I could never be a complete homer for anything.. it's one thing to support your console and another to follow and support everything your preferred company does without exception and get overly riled up whenever someone disagrees.. it's silly.

Someone was going to say it because it's the truth, its how Nintendo chooses to do things and their plan as of late isn't on my wavelength.. it happens, and its the reason why there are other consoles.

As for the controller.. I know what looks uncomfortable and it looks bad to me.. not unfathomably awful bad.. just like a 5 or 6 out of 10 sort of bad on a functionality and usability level. The design gets a zero out of 10 as there isn't any real work needed to churn out a rectangle with a screen on it. I tried the 3DS and reported that I didn't like it and you said "wait till you try it" then too... just sayin. =P

If I really REALLY hated Nintendo, would I have a DSLite.. No. I wouldn't.

No. How am I disagreeing with what you said? Or get riled up for that matter? I have my opinion and you can have yours if that's what you're talking about. I just thought your comment was stupid and pretty immature. And I had no problem with what Neo said, who said he wasn't interested in it. You're free to dislike and not be interested in the console like what Neo stated but you don't need to try to rub it in and say 'LOL THE PS4/720 WOULD BLOW THIS CONSOLE OUT OF THE WATER.' Seriously. -.-

And Mario Kart 3DS having customizable karts (well, slightly) and hangliding?

And submarine karts . . . Why they made that into a feature is beyond me but I'm sure it will become clearer when we get more info.
It looks so awesome! Driving underwater and para-gliding. Haha, I wonder what they smoked when they made this up.

Fenris I'm saying you're acting wayyyyy to touchy on the subject.. it's a machine, filled with cold metal parts, chips, and springs e.t.c. there's no reason to start calling people names because they say something you don't like. I'm not rubbing it I'm calling it as I see it like I always do, there's no reason to act insecure and silly over what is essentially guaranteed.

I grew up on Nintendo so I would love if the concept worked for me, but I'm not seeing a lot at this point that is setting it apart, the way they use the screen is interesting yes, but I still find that controller horribly unpractical.

CHANGE OF SUBJECT =D

I don't know about any of you, but I have never liked the Elder Scrolls.. their playstyle or anything like that.. and that testament semi extends to Fallout which plays mostly the same since Bethesda took that franchise over. But I have to say that from what I've seen Skyrim looks beautiful and gigantic.. and I like that they included passive AI to go with all the aggressive monsters as well.. so now if you see something in the wild, it may not necessarily try to make you more dead than you already may be. It's crazy how much detail went into the game, it's so intricate and there's so much to it... It has some lukewarm support and lovin from my corner which is saying a lot for a franchise I've always been ice cold to.

I was being... too touchy.... I don't think you still understand. I don't care what you think of the machine. I already stated that several times. And no, you WERE 'rubbing it in,' saying new consoles are going to blow this out of the water and according to you, everybody knows it. And the only reason why I said that because your comment was really ******-ish. I just thought your comment was completely fanboy-ish and overall stupid. You don't need to remind us.

But okay! New subject! =D

Another game announced for the Wii U.
It's Pikmin.

That game should work well with the extra screens.
