I'm not sure if its to be trusted or not, but something similar has been put onto wiki so...comments? EDIT I just now realized I put in the wrong thing in the title. FFFFFFFF- Great first A new Xbox, then a new Wii, and NOW a new Playstation?! -sighs- Why don't take all the non-existent money I have gaming companies? Seriously I still need to get a new 360 and I like my wii, and I don't own a Ps3 D: /whine rant Anyway- I at least hope the new PS isn't like 400 dollars >_> And I wonder how good it will sell whenever it comes out? Hmm? New Xbox? Microsoft spent half a million dollars on Kinect, and needs to desperately work on their lineup, so there's no way they're gonna reveal a new Xbox anytime soon. =| Definitely not this year or maybe next year till they officially reveal it. |

ok. my brain is going nuts right now. so correct me if im wrong, and im prity sure that i am. sony is revamping the PS3? or are they makeing a PS4? ether way, im pissed. i just got my ps3 half a year ago! i know it had some quarks, and its been out for some time, but holy crap!! |

The PS4 is in development but it won't be out this year. I think Nintendo might be the only one with a new system this year. I fully expect a price drop of the PS3 to $199 sometime this year but not announced during E3. Maybe GamesCom. Every two years the PS3 has dropped by $100 so it would make sense that it would this year. $199 will be the sweet spot and probably skyrocket sells even if a new Nintendo system comes out. As for Microsoft, I don't see them bringing out a new Xbox anytime soon or they would have just waited to integrate the Kinect into the new Xbox. |

Hm.. well I've been out of the loop recently I guess I thought "New Xbox" when I read about Kinect. /facepalms. Ignore that please sorry  But I'm still upset that Sony and Nintendo are making new consoles when they haven't even been out that long. They've been out for what? Less then six years? /bad with time. It seems pretty dumb to bring out a new console, why not just update the current one? I have a belief a console should be ATLEAST a decade old before a new one takes it place, but that's just me. |

Huh, seems like the PS3 still has a lot of life left in it for right now, though, so we probably won't get whatever they're working on for a very long time. Good thing the world's not ending in 2012 lol. |

Wii launched in November 19, 2006. PS3 was launched two days earlier on the seventeenth.* *In North America. Slightly earlier for Japan. I'm not sure when Sony will release this but yeah, it's been less then FIVE years actually right now for the Wii. The Wii at least be five and a half or six years maybe when the next console comes out. =/ Edited by Fenroar, May 29 2011, 06:55 AM.

@Everyone complaining about it being too early: Its actually been a longer wait than we've ever had. There was a 5 year gap between every console generation so far, and if this one had followed suite we would have had a new Xbox in 2010. |

Didn't the N64 have a good four-year run? Anyhoo, My desk is now completely filled up with consoles and computers and my cabinets are beginning to get hard to organize. Not to mention my lack of money (about 100 USD and soon to be 40 once I renew my XBL). Man, looks like I'll get the 3DS or NGP if anything. |

As technology moves forward, the gap between release seems to get larger and larger. Yet, the gap to most of us consumers seems shorter and shorter? Why is that? I have a theory that perhaps it's because as we all grow, time seems to more or less speed up. A year feels much shorter to me now than it did 5 years ago, and every day time feels as though it's getting faster and faster. I've heard this to be true with a majorty of people as they grow old. So this may in fact be part of why we feel this release announcement is far too soon. Though there is also something else to consider. This generation of consoles is so much different than anything released previously. Prior to the Nintendo Wii, XBox 360, and PS3, no console focused their functions on internet capabilities. Sure, the PS2 and XBox had such features, but there wasn't a prodominant focus on them, and the technology for connecting and operationg using the internet was weaker. But with this generation, all three platforms almost depend on internt conneciton, and as such, it is almost a lifeline, expanding the lives of the consoles by quite a bit. Old consoles used to have bonus attachments and such released for them to keep them fresh. Or even alterations (that still happens today with hand helds). You may recall that SNES cartridge that allowed you to play gameboy games on your television, or perhaps the 32X and Sega CD being attached to the Sega Genesis. Let's not forget that Game Boy Advance port that could be attached to the Nintendo Gamecube. Years ago, that was all that could be done to attempt to keep a console fresh, alive, and well. Though now, with the help of the internet, keeping things alive and well is far too easy, with new updates and features, all the DLC, a vast array of old game libraries avalable for instant download. And even with this, the consoles still release little extras, such as the XBox 360 Kinect, or that Wii controller add on, there are so many ways to keep a platform fresh and new, that it almost seems as though all three of the major gaming consoles came out but a year or so ago. I apologize for the long post, but overall my point is, sure, this is sort of shocking to hear that Playstation is ALREADY in development for a PS3 follow up, and Nintendo is already gearing to release a new console of it's own and such, but it's no where near as strange as we're making it seem. Just as Fwiss said, The Nintendo 64 only had a good 4 years before the Nintendo Game Cube entered the market. The Wii has already lasted nearly 5 years, and no Nintendo console release has happened since. So this news is to be expected, it's just, with how things have turned out, we weren't ready I guess. haha. Truth be told I feel as though we could stand to wait a good three or four mor years before another release, but than again, I'm not the one in charge of it all. lol |

Well, this means I can get a cheap PS3! I'm assuming this "PS4" won't have backwards capability, or you'll have to crack the console again to get at it. Shame, but again, it means you can get the older stuff a lot cheaper. Not to mention Sonic Unleashed is on sale at Best Buy! |
