I don't know how I got suckered into this. I don't even like tunnels... Arikato thought. Nootua floated next to him and cocked his head in a way that meant that Arikato could have avoided it. Arikato and several others had been asked to help dig tunnels. The pay was good. But it wasn't till they were several thousand feet below the surface that they found what they were looking for. Or at least what they thought they were looking for. They had been told the digging was to uncover artifacts of great importance. But the artifacts weren't real. They had found creatures that should have never been disturbed. Most had been eradicated when the tunnels collapsed others survived. There wasn't many people left. Arikato had found a set of twins. Ren and Sera were their names. They probably had been in it for the money as well. They too were trapped and Arikato had taken it upon himself to protect them. No one had said a word since they'd met. They were all in shock from finding that they've been trapped with a very slim chance of escape and only a few days worth of food. Nootua changed into a young phoenix and flew up on Arikato's shoulder. Arikato scratched Nootua's head in an affectionate way. "So what's with the bird?" Sera asked breaking the silence. "He's an old friend. I've known him since he was hatched and I can't be parted from him," he said not turning to talk. His voice was gruff and his demeanor annoyed. "I hope there's others. The more people the better right?" Ren said as they entered a large cavern with a pool of water on the right and a stream on the left. No one spoke. They just looked around taking in the scenery and the thought that they may be alone down here. Ren drooped her head wishing she hadn't said that. |

"The next time you say ,Its going to be fun, I'm not going to be a part of it." a male voice said from the end of the cavern. "Its not my fault, your the one who said using fire would help breaking the walls." another voice, this time feminine, said from the cavern. "And whet you did break the wall didn't you? Great work." "NEXT TIME--" The voices stop when they eared other people in the cave. "Is there anyone there?" The female voice shouted waiting for an answer? Ren and Sera stopped and listened. They had heard a voice in the darkness ahead. Arikato pointed in the direction of the sound and nodded at Nootua. The phoenix switched into its ethereal form and flew in the direction of it casting a bright light as it went. It landed in front of the two people gracefully and cocked its head to the side as if waiting for a response. In its ethereal form it was 5' tall and its wing span was 10'. Sera had lit a small ball of fire for light and held it in her hand. The group made their way over to Nootua carefully stepping over rocks and crevices on the floor. Arikato stood next to Nootua and was silent. "You guys trapped down here too?" Ren asked as she stood next to Arikato and Sera walked up next to her crossing her arms and looking at the area around her. |

Jake and Frice where using a small ball of fire to see where they where going but it was really weak. When they saw another light not too far away. "Hey we're here!" Frice said. Not long after that the small light turn with a much bigger one, human shape like with something they look like big claws. Carl put himself in front of Frice and grab his guns ready to fight what looked like a huge monster. "Wait" Frice said as she puts herself in front of him and starts waling to the light. After a little she sees other people. She was a female hedgehog with blue cloth and two gloves that looked heavy, one on her hand and the other on her pocket. and a light orange skin while Carl was a golden equidna with a cowboy hat and brown cloths. "Hi I'm Frice and this is Carl, we where digging around here when the floor collapse and we fall to a river back there. We where looking for a exit when we found you." She said when she meet Ren, Arikato and Sera. Carl just stood next to her without saying anything. Edited by Pedruben, May 11 2011, 12:36 PM.

"Arikato," Arikato huffed. He wasn't too friendly and seemed to be focusing on the cavern. "I'm Ren and this is Sera. We were doing the same but these tunnels are so extensive. Luckily Arikato found us and has been helping us along our way," Ren smiled. Sera just looked around seeming distant. Something was on her mind but she wouldn't share for the time being. She wasn't quite sure what it was anyways. If it was what she thought though they'd need to be ready. Nootua flapped its wings impatiently and lifted up and turned its head towards a small access tunnel to their right. Sounds of stomping could be heard. They were distant but that meant they weren't alone. "Re-enter," Arikato said and Nootua disappeared from sight. "We need to move. Now if possible. Staying in one place can be detrimental to all of our healths," he said and turned heading down towards a tunnel away from the one where the sound was coming from. Ren and Sera followed but seemed to be a bit worried about the sounds. "What do you think it is?" Ren asked. "Probably another of those damned creatures. We've had almost too many of them to deal with," Sera grumbled and dimmed her light. She couldn't afford to allow too much light. Especially not if the creatures were nearby again. She had already dealt with a few small ones. But the big ones were an entirely different story. |

"Nice to meet you." She said to all of them. She look at Carl and asked "Aren't you going to say anything?" "Hi" he said in a small voice, yet loud enough so that everyone could ear him. "It seems you have a bug problem." Carl replied as he grabs his weapons. As for Frice she decided to take some water with her. At the end of the cavern there was some water that was falling from the ceiling. She toke the glove from her hand and she turn some of the water into a block of ice. "Ready" She said with a ball of fire in one hand and a ball of ice in the other as she starts walking in the direction of Nootua. "Frice wait." Carl said as he rush to near her. (Brain block, short ideas. Sorry.) |

"I don't think you'll want to face those yet. They sound like they're the larger versions of what we've been fighting. Stupid Scrags... I can't wait to rip apart the officials who commandeered this little excavation," Sera said cracking her knuckles as she turned back towards the large cavern. "Now let's get a move on. We need to keep moving. We can rest and chat once we get back to the Hollow Grounds," she said turning around. "If you want to stay that's fine but I can't be held responsible if you die cause you were unprepared," Arikato boomed from the tunnel and silence filled the cavern as if waiting for the two to move. The movement and light from the tunnel with the creatures became brighter and snarlings, clicks, and growls could be heard. This meant the Scrags were close at hand and would soon arrive and kill anything they saw. If they saw anything that is. |

As them keep walking Frice can't stop thinking of something. "Hollow Grounds? Where's that?" She asked as she follows the others. In a small cavern near the path they where a sound was eared. *BAMMM* Not to late Carl appeared with a small monster in his hand. "Is this your enemy?" Said Carl showing the annimal on his hand with a small hole. He shows the beast that was still moving. (My head as been slow lately. Sorry) |

"That's just a grunt. Just a small Scrag that ventured too far. Now be quiet before the bigger ones come to gut you and the rest of us," Arikato growled. He could here the larger Scrags enter the cavern behind them. He hoped the concave walls would have distorted the sound enough to send them off their trail. Ren and Sera kept quiet. They only looked up when they entered the Hollow Grounds. It was large at first glance. But it was merely an illusion. Once they stepped foot in the center the cavern became smaller and several holes in the wall revealed small hovels that were once homes. Arthur strode over to one and pulled out a small metal key and stuck it into the keyhole of the metal circular door. He then opened it revealing a somewhat dim room with a hallway leading to what was a room with several mats. There was a table and chairs and a generator powered fridge. There was also several plants that were under a sun lamp and an oxygen regen tank was on the wall. "Welcome to our humble abode I guess. Make yourselves at home," Arikato sighed going to the back and laying down on a mat. He turned his back to the door and drifted off to sleep. "Don't mind him. He's just ansty what with the Scrag's movement," Ren said as she and Sera began to prepare some bread for food. |

"Not bad" Carl said as he enters the improved home. He trows the Scrag and sets a trap with Frice helps. A small hole that will crash when something stays there and falls 10 feet into a hole. So... what our next plan of action? We can try to find a way to the surface or *Puts a map in a table* we can look for this. Its a project for a evil lair. If we get there, pass all the traps, we can get put of there and into the surface. The problem is that in the path is probably fill with Scrags. "But without knowing exactly where to dig and how far we could possibly endanger our lives. We've been trying to gain access to a relay station to see if we can get in touch with someone on the surface. That's what we were coming back from when we picked you guys up," Ren said as she finished making a sandwich. "And I don't think the Scrags would take to kindly to us digging upwards. They'd see the dust and immediately attack. Plus we don't have proper equipment to dig our way out by that method. We'd need a wench and pulley system which we just don't have," Sera added bringing a plate of pineapple slices to the table. Arikato had fallen asleep at this point. His eyes were wide open meaning he was aware of their conversation but he couldn't respond until he awoke later. Nootua appeared out of a small puff of smoke and walked over to the table and began to nibble on a pineapple slice by holding it delicately between the ends of its wings. |

"So we stay here or we try the lair. Although the plan its 90 years old. We would find no villain but they make those places to stay a death trap for centuries." After he said that a strange noise came from outside. Carl goes to the door to to find a too big for there trap Scrag that followed the smell of the dead one. "Great *Shoot*, we should had made the trap bigger." The shoot Carl trow did little scratch to the Scrag. There where like huge monster with four legs, two stings for hands and all there face, back and arms greatly armored with the high of a normal person. A shoot from bellow would kill them easily but doing so was easier said that done. "Is everything alright?" Frice asked as she goes see what was attacking. "HAAAAAA" She take off her gloves after her shout and created a ice spear to trow against it. But against the armor it didn't had a lot of effect. Carl look inside to the other and asked. "Any idea?" |

Ren walked over to the door and opened a panel just next to it. "Your gonna want to stand back," she said as she flipped a small red switch. A loud whirring sound could be heard as gears on the outside began to close a reinforced shutter just outside the door. "Be careful that can cut off your arm if your not careful," she sighed as she walked back over to a cabinet and pulled out a stack of cards. "Anyone game for poker?" she asked. She didn't seem too bothered by the Scrag outside. The shutter snapped its neck just as it closed. The body had been pushed out. Loud sounds of something hitting the shutter could be heard. There were no dents created meaning the shutter was strong enough for the impact. Ren took a seat at the table and then shuffled the deck to prepare for the game. "Might as well. Gonna be a long night," Sera sighed as she waited for her hand to be dealt. "And yeah that fortress sounds good but it might take a bit of time to get through. We might have to disable the traps slowly as not to gain attention," she said turning her attention to the other two. |

"Might as well." He said as he pulls a chair. "How did you build this underground?" Carl asked Ren, who had the cards. "I'm going to sleep." Frice said as she went inside. "You do that, that place is full of traps. The map says that there a treasure room somewhere on that floor so its heavily guarded." After that Carl grab hid cards and started playing poker and Frice fall down on a bed and start sleeping. |

"Arikato built the shutters. He's handy but also a bit gruff. But he means well and he has watched over me an my sister," Ren said as she layed down her hand, "Full house. Read 'em and weep," she grinned. "Well that's great. All I had was two fives, a queen, a six, and a nine," Sera sighed as she leaned back in her chair. "So what you want to do. We can either dig up or go through the fortress. In my opinion we don't have much of a choice and both options are bad no matter how you slice it. Or we have the relay station that Ren, Sera, and Arikato have been searching for," Nootua said in a very sophisticated tone. Ren and Sera just stared at him in shock. They hadn't known that Nootua could speak. "You know it might freeze that way if your not careful," he chuckled. The girls just kept on staring. |
